darkowl72, thanks for the reply and the advice. After this whole mess, I've got autobackup turned on.
They managed to fix the issue for me. The file was saved, though it's missing those last few entries—but honestly, I'll take what I can get.
I was right in the middle of working in Word when my computer just completely froze up on me. That dreaded hourglass icon popped up and just kept spinning endlessly. I have no clue how I even managed to force everything to close...
I was certain I’d lost every single thing I was typing at that moment. But it gets worse—when I tried to reopen the file, it was just gone. Vanished. I can't find it anywhere, let alone open it. The file was saved on a USB flash drive, but now there's nothing there but a useless shortcut. Clicking it does absolutely nothing. Then, I stumbled upon this weirdly auto-generated file in WordPad titled "save document," but when I opened it, it was just a mess of question marks and random fragments of sentences. It's clearly some mangled version of my lost work.
Is there any way to actually recover this? For context, I'm running Windows XP, and the version of Word on this machine is 2003. The document was originally created in Word 2007 on a different computer, if that matters for some reason...

That’s exactly what I need. But only if it doesn't cost me a dime...

P.S.: Vixy has been acting up lately and freezing on me. If it isn't working for you right now, just give it another shot later...
I’ve been grinding at this all morning and getting absolutely nowhere. It hits 99% and then just crashes with an error. Does anyone know of a similar program that actually works?
Yeah, obviously, I didn't even think of that..🙂 I'm already testing it out..
Is there anything else besides that?
And how the hell am I supposed to take a song I found on YouTube and use it as background music? I've been trying, but it just isn't working..
I’m looking to put together a photo slideshow and layer some background music over it.
What’s the best way to pull this off? Specifically, I need recommendations for software—preferably something free.
I’ve had enough. Honestly, I am just completely fed up with how everyone keeps dancing around the truth like it's some kind of taboo subject. It’s exhausting to watch. You see people jumping through hoops, trying to spin things to make them look palatable, when the reality is staring us right in the face. It doesn't matter how much you try to sugarcoat it. The facts aren't going anywhere. Every time I log on here, it's the same nonsense. People making excuses for incompetence or pretending that everything is fine when it clearly isn't. It’s lazy. It’s intellectually dishonest. And frankly, it’s insulting to anyone who actually pays attention. We don't need more polite nods and "maybe next time" attitudes. We need bluntness. We need the truth, even if it's ugly, and we need it now. Stop wasting my time with the fluff. kaže:
Yeah, I'll give you that. Even for me, Meryl Streep still takes the lead, but it all comes down to... Natalie Portman I’m refusing to vote in the poll. 😬
Look, if we’re talking purely about filmography, I could actually make a case for Meryl Streep having the edge based on certain roles she's pulled off. But honestly? Susan Sarandon just has more grit. She has a stronger character, a more powerful personality—she’s a fighter. She feels real. Plus, her voice just carries way more weight. 🙂
Both of them are absolute powerhouses. They’re incredible, just in completely different ways.🙏
Susan Sarandon vs. Meryl Streep. It’s a razor-thin margin for the first one.
...I’ve been reading about Zendaya... and honestly, I just have to admire her courage.
Rest in Peace, Zendaya.
Can someone please explain the actual difference between these two tests? I need to know exactly which stomach issues or changes one picks up versus the other. Lately, my stomach has been acting up—weird pains, heartburn, constant burping😠—so I’m looking to pay out of pocket to get some answers, since I really want to dodge a gastroscopy if I can. 🙂 I’m not even bothering with my primary care doctor right now because even if she actually gave me a referral, I’d be stuck waiting months for an appointment. If I have to wait six weeks just for basic blood work, I can only imagine how insane the waiting lists are for X-rays or ultrasounds...
I went through the exact same thing as Casey Rogers47!
I dealt with a low-grade fever hanging around for months—somewhere between 98.6 and 99.5 degrees. After running every single test under the sun, everything came back perfectly normal. Finally, they suggested I just get my tonsils out, claiming they could be the culprit behind the constant temperature spikes. But honestly? I skipped the surgery altogether since I wasn't dealing with any other issues like sinus infections or constant sore throats. Sure enough, after a while, the fever just vanished on its own.
Bradley Barnes90 said:Forget that. The real question is whether there are any other surgeons this good left, and if they can actually handle the workload.
They’re saying people from that area now have to travel all the way to Chicago just to get heart surgery...
Oh, so because he’s a talented surgeon, we’re just supposed to overlook everything and hand him his job back? Is that how it works? 😠
Sure, there are probably plenty of doctors and surgeons out there who could do an excellent job, but thanks to hacks like this Dr. Scammer, those people might not even get the chance to prove it. Just yesterday, Fox News was reporting that absolutely zero surgeries in RI are being postponed... as if there’s magically a surplus of great surgeons waiting in the wings. Give me a break.
Look, he was arrested, and honestly, he deserves it. But let’s be real—he’s just one guy in a massive sea of corruption, and I’m terrified that after all this noise, nothing actually changes. It’s the same old story we see here in America: some guy gets caught, maybe uses his 🙄 family connections to wiggle out of trouble, crawls right back to his desk, and people keep sliding envelopes under his door... that’s just the reality of how things work in this country.
I love summer, but honestly, it’s getting harder and harder to deal with—especially on the health front. My biggest issue is my low blood pressure, particularly during these last few hellish days. I’m averaging about 85 over 50 lately. Being in air-conditioned spaces makes a massive difference, and luckily, I have AC both at work and at home. At this point, air conditioning isn't some luxury anymore; for some people, it's a literal lifesaver.
🙂 I’m averaging about eight hours.
If I don't get enough sleep, my brain stays in this weird, foggy haze all day long...
I honestly wish I could just crash for a few hours and be fine. I actually envy people who can function perfectly on only four or five hours of shut-eye...
