Honestly, you aren't even gonna find much punk at a Barber show—and I don't mean that "Exploited" kind of punk, either, just like, actual grit or energy or whatever. Unless they completely flipped the script on their second album.
But that theremin stuff though... 🙏

I don't know if you guys caught this, but even Perković put together a few paragraphs on the topic:

At least it’s actually readable and makes sense—unlike whatever the hell our colleague over here is trying to pull.

Look, just like LineaCas, you’re basically contributing to the total chaos of this thread—just making everyone else look bad by comparison.

Which basically makes this whole thread pointless.

Yeah, because you clearly couldn't help yourself from chiming in.
By the way, where did you even come from? I don't think anyone here even brought up Cavea 🤔

Well, you definitely were bored, 😁
and honestly, same here (always at work)—so I actually put in some effort and read the whole thing. It wasn't exactly a walk in the park, either.
So now, what I'm stuck on is that typical high school question: "what was the author trying to say?" I’ve never been great at this kind of deep analysis, but for some reason, I can't let it go. Basically, once we strip away all the filler (which is like 90% of the text), cranky Angelo is just trying to explain two things:
1. People on internet forums hide behind anonymous handles to insult and criticize the world around them. Which isn't cool. How do you fight it? Join in! And not just with one handle, but with two different ones. But after getting called out (not that it matters since the guy uses very, uh, *specific* linguistic patterns), LineaCasa mocks the whole Copernican reversal and pivots to point number one:
2. It's totally fine to insult people and talk absolute nonsense on forums if I—get this, ME—am the one doing it. Because I'm supposedly way above all that bottom-of-the-barrel garbage that "weaklings" deal with, so I just provoke them and then, teehee, enjoy their reactions, blah blah blah.

What else is there to say that Wrong hasn't already covered? Talk about a massive ego disorder.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see a long-winded essay about this exact thread penned by him soon, probably along the lines of "See? Told you so..."

Anyway, help a clueless guy out: what exactly is a falafel? 😕
wiredfalcon2 said:So, what's everyone's deal with Radiohead lately? Why is everybody suddenly acting like they've got some kind of beef with them?

It’s not even about the bands themselves—it's the fans. You know the type. They pull that pretentious "true connoisseur" face the second they start talking about music, like they're doing you a massive favor just by having an opinion. 😁
It's basically like... some kind of fanboy nonsense. 😈

So, I was checking out that Damien Jurado track, "Simple Hello," and honestly? It’s just... wow. There's something about his songwriting that hits different—it’s like he’s digging right into those messy, quiet parts of your brain that you usually try to ignore. It isn't flashy or overproduced, which is exactly why it works. Just raw, honest stuff. It’s one of those songs where you can practically hear the room breathing around him. Definitely worth a listen if you're in a mood for something real.

Man, honestly, true 😁

oktopod said:So he can basically brainwash them with whatever music, movies, and books he's into.

Nah, it's way easier than that.

1. You explain why Radiohead actually sucks
2. You ask her to call you "Uncle"😂
3. You argue that Summerteeth is the best album in the entire universe—even if she still thinks Tom Waits is better

Then after a month, you check in to see if she’s actually learned the curriculum. Especially regarding point number two.

Daniel Bailey7 said:The new Arcade Fire is absolute trash.

Who even told you that?😁

Honestly, the best stuff I've heard in months has gotta be The Rolling Stones with Róisín Murphy, those New Pornographers, and the absolutely criminally underrated Pernice Brothers.

Honestly, those new Silver Jews tracks are absolute fire. Whatever Octopus thinks about them—man, he can think whatever he wants. 👋

Listen to them twice and you're done.🙂

New wave?
Copy/paste of what exactly?
God damn it 😲
John Zorn in Music ·
Tyler Grant86 said:I know there'll be people showing up to the gig just because Tom Waits' bassist is in the band...

🙂

I honestly didn't even realize that until John Zorn introduced him. Take someone like Steve Vai, for example—I haven't gone to a single one of his shows because I just don't care about his solo stuff, even though he's basically the go-to guitarist for Waits.
John Zorn in Music ·
So, I was down in San Diego yesterday...
My relationship with jazz is, let's be honest, pretty ignorant—but since I love hitting up live shows and it's right in my backyard, I swung by this little Roman amphitheater.
Basically, the lineup featured an acoustic mass, which meant we had him on sax, Greg Cohen on bass, and two guys I didn't recognize on trumpet and drums.
I'll admit, I was bracing myself for some heavy experimental stuff, but what we got was—at least for my taste—pretty conventional. It was Jewish folk melodies jazzed up with all those classic tropes: drum solos, bass solos, the duo thing where it's just drums and bass before the horns kick in, and all that playing with dynamics. Honestly, it wasn't anything I haven't seen at the dozen or so jazz gigs I've sat through in my life.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it. They played perfectly, and anyone deaf would tell you it was a great show, but after hearing all these legends about Zorn, I was expecting something a bit more out there. Plus, they were short. 50 minutes plus two encores of maybe 20 minutes.
Anyway, worth seeing, but personally, I'd rather listen to Dirtbombs :2up: .
Nike "borrows" album art in Music ·
I honestly have no clue how this thread ended up in the music section 😁

If you've been paying attention, Pitchfork has been aggressively pushing clothing and footwear brands lately—including the widely hated Nike. It feels pretty hypocritical to me, you know? Like, advertising them one minute and then tearing them apart in their articles the next.
Best and worst concerts of the year? in Music ·
Best of the bunch: Dirtbombs @ Kansas City
Worst of the lot: Only Two and Macho @ BRM Cleveland 🙂

Honestly, though—fingers crossed I actually get to catch the good stuff this year (Sonic Youth, Calexico)

I honestly just want to apologize to punkpenn, mrkvi, and my unidentified female friend for the drunken mess I caused. Look, it wasn't some massive rager. Or rather—thanks to the sheer intensity of Elvis's rhythm section 😁—it was a thing, but it lasted maybe fifteen minutes tops.
Jason Diaz34 said:It’s coming. 😁

Man, things are already starting to shift. I’m gonna head up there and drop an Eric Clapton vinyl right at her feet—honestly, because of you, I’m about two seconds away from throwing hands with a literal rock. Just so she knows exactly who she's messing with. 😬
Steven Hernandez9 said:Some lady who’s celebrating her birthday today—though she thinks she'll celebrate it tomorrow—is heading out. So, tomorrow we're basically marking three things at once: the last day of undergrad, the last day of work, and a birthday. You staying in?🙄

Look, if this lady plans on bringing her whole little clique along—preferably girls who are slightly younger, maybe a year or two behind her in college, or even better, just finished high school—who all have this weird fantasy about getting wasted with some old guy... then maybe I'd consider it. Actually, scratch that, I wouldn't even think about it. As it stands? Yeah, it's a hard pass.
Steven Hernandez9 said:Man, if only your OP was actually true for once.

Please. I’d rather die than listen to that country garbage. Though, I guess I’ve been forced to endure it every now and then—usually when some guy like Steven Hernandez9 gets a few drinks in him and starts grabbing the acoustic guitar. Honestly, it’s almost a blessing because, if my memory isn't totally failing me, back at that dive bar in Cleveland, they were playing "God Bless America" or something equally cheesy. Yeah, yeah, I know, basically the musical equivalent of a bad patriotic anthem or whatever 😁.
Steven Hernandez9 said:(I'm pretty sure the whole convoy is rolling out of Cleveland tomorrow—honestly, if you aren't in that lineup, you're seriously missing out🙂 )

Look, I've officially decided I'm done being some obsessed little groupie😁
So, who else is actually heading out? Besides the band and the Amazon crew?
