What do we think about Franz Ferdinand? in Music ·
wiredfalcon2 said:man, this whole forum is just crawling with these crusty little "know-it-all" indie snobs who think their obscure garage bands are actually good.

honestly, where even are you seeing indie snobs on this thread? i'm lost.

After a semester at college, he and Zappa moved to Cucamonga, California, where they planned to shoot a film, Captain Beefheart Meets the Grunt People. ..."

hollowseal33 said:You guys basically just listed everything—honestly, having a list longer than 10 albums for a single year feels a bit blurry and over-the-top to me. You make lists of GOOD albums, not just every semi-interesting thing you happened to hear this year, but whatever... anyway, I’d really highlight the one album that absolutely blew my mind this year, which was Liars and They Were Wrong So We Drowned. Absolutely flawless.

So does that mean there can only be 10 GOOD albums a year, or what?
By the way, if we're talking about being pretentious, then They Were Wrong... definitely fits that bill.

Look, I think Random Harvest is cool too, but that concert... 🙂

Hey, is the new Modest Mouse actually any good? Honestly.
I only really stumbled onto them a few years back (shoutout Frank Howard79) and fell in love instantly—Lonesome Crowded West is easily my favorite, and honestly, pretty much everything else they've done is solid. But this new stuff... man, it's just boring. It feels so flat, almost like some modern nu-metal derivative at points. Or maybe I'm just losing my edge? 😁

If you're from Cleveland, you're more than welcome.
If you aren't... ugh, seriously... just posting constantly... quit being such a drag... just hang tight for a bit... maybe sometime after New Year's, alright?

Song of the Week in Music ·
My go-to for the first real fall weekend (and I’m not counting that mindless background noise filled with the screams of dying Svab from Silent Storm 🙂 ) is Jesse Sykes & The sweet Hereafter - my Girl, which sounds pretty much like Margo Timmins meets Calexico. So, we've got the most beautiful vocals on the planet paired with these neo-Morricone soundscapes, all blending perfectly with 😁 and this Sunday rain—it honestly just leaves me with one question in my head: Trucidare, what the hell are you doing at KSET?? 😁

Michelle Hall9 said:I mean, sure—if it's just commercial pop-punk-metal, I'd honestly rather hear that than some band fumbling their way through a Sonic Youth cover. There are a million bands out there doing that shit anyway.

Which ones though? What "commercial pop-punk-metal" are we even talking about? 🙂

Jerry Fisher41 said:So, what was actually said—or rather, written—in that thread? 🙂

The story goes that before he went bald, Frank Black used to rock long hair just to try and snag a spot in Iron Maiden, taking over for Adrian Smith when he left the band. But since that totally tanked (those questionable sideburns were a disaster), he ended up starting Pixies and wrote Broken hair, which they later renamed Broken faca just so nobody would catch on to what the song was actually about...

Who knows, maybe The New York Times will start handing out 4,000 free tickets or something.
Heh, can you even imagine 4,000 old folks showing up to a concert?😁

redgull44 said:Should we organize some kind of tour bus to Minneapolis?🙂

Honestly, that’s actually not a bad call. Word is they’re only dropping about 4,000 tickets, so snagging one is gonna be a total nightmare. If we could somehow pull this off—I mean, if someone with actual clout on here, maybe someone with connections over at a major venue like Madison Square Garden?—could step up and handle the logistics...
