I mean, by that logic, anyone could just post whatever advice they wanted without any issues.
I guess this site follows Rhode Island law. And since unlicensed medical practice is illegal there, encouraging that kind of stuff shouldn't even be tolerated on the forum.
If you can't give advice on making a bomb because it's illegal, then you shouldn't be allowed to tell people to skip chemo and go see Andy instead.

Oh, and honestly, I don't think you really get it.

Look, just find here your router and the manual on how to open ports on it.

You shouldn't have touched anything in the Windows firewall, since those programs usually just add themselves to the exceptions list anyway...

cvates? hehe
mellowraven22 🙏

I guess if the sys admins actually knew what they were doing, this whole place wouldn't be such a mess. That stupid upside-down banner for Atlas is still up, too. Maybe their ad contract expires soon... that might be the only way things get better.

It’s the tumor that kills you, not someone else's suggestion.

Whatever, screw all that....
Can I get advice on building a bomb here on the forum?
Or tips on how to break into a Golf GTI?
Or maybe political advice on how to kill a Mexican?
Or the best way to kill cats on KLJ?

I guess the mods just don't get the basic rules of how they should be moderating...

I’d probably even bet that our uncle used to carry a red book back in the day. The most hardcore anti-communists are usually just former communists, I guess. Hmm, I don't know, maybe...

Go ahead, try to get me banned, because for me, being called a communist is just straight-up insulting.

Better if you don't... I kind of like staying under the radar. 🙂

Mistakes rarely get fixed on this forum, but usually, that's on the sysadmin, not these little pets we have here.

Since it's an error that mellowraven22 and ZgSash could actually fix, I guess they just didn't get what you were saying.

Maybe they'll come ask later. 🤷

And when exactly did George W. Bush say that??
Sure, the national finances are "under control"—right up until the moment we go bankrupt.
As for Eric Adams, he works for the little guy just as much as he works for the big shots.

If everything you listed were actually true, we'd be seeing early elections right now, and those people would have been held accountable... by being kicked out of their positions (Prime Minister, Cabinet members, etc.).

Jessica Cox2 said:I honestly have nothing to say... the only thing that bugs me is why they don't just come out and say: WE ARE A FORUM SPONSORED BY THE MOST JUST AND BEST PARTY, THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY, WHOSE OPPONENTS TO COMMUNISM AND THE DEMOCRATS ARE ACTUALLY AGAINST THE RULES. FEEL FREE TO MOCK THE REPUBLICANS AS MUCH AS YOU WANT AND AS LONG AS YOU CAN... WELCOME, YOUR DEMOCRATIC PARTY.

I mean, you should probably ask the boss who's actually footing his bills. And honestly, you really think anyone would pay for some random forum? I guess.
That guy's either a terrible foreign investor or he's got enough cash to have all the major corporations paying him protection money... I guess.

I've been around this place forever, and man, the moderators on the politics board have been all over the map. Honestly, they were all pretty soft. I guess most people wouldn't even last long in my neck of the woods. If they're leaning left, at least they're decent about it, I suppose.

I’m on the right, but I don't have a problem giving a Democrat credit if they're actually decent and honest. I guess I just judge people by their character first. Politics is kind of secondary to the important stuff, maybe.

So, the boss is asking if the Republican Party has any plans to shake things up and maybe drop like a hundred grand on this forum just to appoint two right-wing moderators. And seriously, when are they actually gonna start paying Powerlock? He's one of the most right-leaning guys I know, and he's been grinding for months without seeing a single cent.

Jessica Cox2 said:Well, once she’s actually been convicted for it, you can say whatever you want... but until then, 🙂

Until they prove they aren't corrupt, calling them out is basically insulting every honest person out there.

They picked careers where being a crook is pretty much the default, so they actually have to work to prove they're decent. And honestly, they don't even care when people call them thieves. Looking at how this country is running, they’re either totally incompetent or just straight-up criminals.
I'm leaning toward the second one.
Because, I mean, it takes real talent to take a country with all its potential and turn it into such a poverty-stricken mess. Only real crooks could pull that off.

And insults are the least of it; in a normal country, these people would be considered traitors. A hundred years ago, they'd be facing a firing squad.

Also, it's all the same thing—Democratic Party, Republican Party, whatever...

It's been the same group of people running the show for the last 35 years. Honestly, nothing a proper de-communization wouldn't fix. Except, even the new recruits get filtered through those old systems of privilege and corruption—stepping on everyone else just to get ahead. If you don't have those "talents," you can't move up.

We shouldn't even bother insulting them; we should just kick them out, ban them from public life, and keep them away from the younger generation.

We've got people in power who barely know English, let alone a second language. People who can't even send an email or find a news site online (though they're great at hiding under desks in Congress), people who are illiterate, useless, and whose only skill in life is living off someone else. They don't know anything else.

Nowadays, you need English and computer skills for any job. The people running the country should probably know way more than some warehouse worker or retail clerk, right?

Instead, we have incompetents leading the competent, and crooks destroying businesses just so they can buy them for cheap—people willing to slaughter anything just to get their piece of the pie.

We're stuck with people for whom insults are the mildest form of criticism. The fact that they don't even flinch when they're insulted says everything. Their motto is basically: say what you want, I know what I'm doing.

And hey, lady, stop crying for their honor. Let the people vent their rage here at least. Though, I think we'll reach that point from a century ago pretty soon, where traitors were shot, because even stronger nations couldn't handle this many thieves. Just wait until people start losing their homes and apartments; then an insult on a forum will be the least of what happens to those parasites.

Signing off...

So, what’s the deal with the Mayan calendar? I guess.
So many world-ending scenarios have been predicted over the last century. And honestly? Not a single one actually happened.

The Earth is like 4.5 billion years old, and honestly, the fact that we even exist is just a massive stroke of luck where everything happened to line up perfectly. It’s not like the universe was specifically rigged for us to show up—you know, that whole idea about some divine design or whatever—but more like the conditions just worked out. We ended up at the right distance from the sun, we have the moon, and Jupiter's huge gravity basically acted like a cosmic vacuum, sweeping up most of the big meteors heading our way. I guess one meteor still managed to slip through and wipe out the dinosaurs, which probably just paved the way for mammals anyway.
So, evolution basically messed up by giving us an extra finger and a slightly bigger brain, and now we've gone off the deep end. We started building all these neural connections and suddenly we're convinced we actually matter in this universe, like the whole damn cosmos was just designed for us or something. I guess.
The Mayan calendar might seem like a big deal if you're just some worm crawling around for 70 years or whatever, but for the planet and the universe? It’s basically a blink. I guess Earth has already cycled through tons of phases—temps spiking and dropping, magnetic poles flipping, all that stuff. We've drifted through sketchy parts of the galaxy, and honestly, there's still a hell of a lot more crazy stuff coming our way.
Whether we're part of the equation or just watching from the sidelines, nobody really knows. But honestly, everything we can pull off at our scale feels pretty damn small. It’s basically like some ant under a skyscraper in New York City taking a dump and thinking it actually matters what happens on the 127th floor. I guess.
Then some rational person comes along and says that's just stupid, but then you always get some skeptic ant popping up claiming if enough ants poop, maybe it could somehow affect a 127-story skyscraper. I guess.

We need way more manpower, I guess. We still have so much ground to cover if we ever want to actually influence anything happening out in space. Honestly, even the most powerful stuff we’ve built and blown up is basically nothing compared to the forces running the universe.

I guess having a bigger brain just means we can trick ourselves into thinking we're worth more than we actually are. It’s probably just an evolutionary glitch that holds us back.

It’s in the documentary, I guess. Space with Neil Armstrong It’s like that one crazy analogy where Sam holds a handful of sand and asks how many grains are actually in there. I guess.
There’s like a million of them... and then people have the nerve to ask how many stars are actually out there? There's way more than all the grains of sand on every beach in the world, I guess.

So, once you actually realize that space is measured in dimensions we can't even wrap our heads around—with forces that are just insane and timeframes that are massive—do you honestly think some random being on a rock circling one of those stars actually matters? I guess not. Maybe.

If that's even true, then we’re barely scratching the surface of what it means to actually exist. I guess we just peeled ourselves off that rock like some ant trying to climb the first step of a skyscraper in Chicago. Maybe.

A Gamma Burst from some neutron star billions of miles away could just wipe Earth out. We wouldn't even know what hit us. Or there's just thousands of other cosmic things happening that have nothing to do with us or anything we do. I guess we're just a lucky accident, basically just beings starting to realize what's going on around us. But who's to say we aren't just here so some higher being can mess up the planet enough that cockroaches are the only ones left to rule the universe? They're definitely way better equipped for the hostile environment out there once we leave the clouds and head into space where our tiny, primitive vision can actually track stuff.

And finally, I guess it's always good to get that sense of how tiny you actually are compared to the universe when you look up. What would that even look like from a distance, I guess... like, say, from Saturn's orbit? So, based on what Carl Sagan used to say, I guess my take is that we’re basically just tasked with creating more people. Maybe in that endless cycle of reproduction, we eventually stumble upon one person who actually matters on a cosmic scale. Or whatever.
Life on Earth is cool just because it's one of a kind. That's basically it, I guess.

The end of the world is coming for sure, but nobody knows when, where, or why. Not really. But if we make it through this one specific thing that everything on Earth depends on, the apocalypse will happen whenever the sun finally runs out of fuel. As far as I know, that's the only date backed by actual science.
So basically earthquakes on the Island over the last 48 hours. The US is just an active place, I guess, nothing really new there.

Alright, look at it this way.
By clicking "agree to terms," you're basically agreeing to this one specific rule. It says once you hit send, everything you write under your precious little username isn't yours anymore—it belongs to Anderson Cooper. I mean, since when does an owner care what anyone posts?
Even the dumb stuff you post on a forum matters. If you type something stupid into Google, your nonsense from this site shows up in the search results.

And yeah, more clicks on the forum means more ad revenue.

So, I guess it makes sense why they won't let you delete posts, though there's also that whole reason about how messy discussions get if half the replies vanish.

Basically, you've got four choices here:
- just don't post
- start your own forum where you can delete whatever you want since you'd be the boss
- keep posting, but realize nothing gets deleted
- learn how to hack and raid the database (just leave my posts alone)

Anyway, I'm a girl and all that, maybe I just worded my question wrong...
The whole issue is people digging through profiles and using old posts to come after someone later...

It’s pretty simple, honestly. No point in fighting or getting worked up. Trust me, nobody's ever gonna use some internet drama in their real life. 😉

So, some guy is just scrolling through the old US forums hunting for stuff to harass you with? 😁

Well, it's right there in the rules: you're the one who decides how anonymous you want to be on here...

Thinking about applying for moderator? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
feraltrucker5 said:This could have been a perfectly entertaining, low-stakes trash thread if we didn't have these relentless optimists constantly trying to seriously and systematically define the exact criteria for becoming a moderator. 🤣

Nah, they don't exist. 😁

Honestly, if you're asking "how do I become a moderator," the only real answer is to spend years studying chaos theory. 😬

You have to want it bad enough to build a whole persona around some random username. I guess you just end up hitting posts where you're dying to tell someone to shut up or get lost, but maybe that constant urge to see them moderated always holds you back.

There was this one thread on Reddit a long time ago, I think it was in the psychology sub. Some guy was trying to figure out why moderators actually bother doing what they do—because regardless of what anyone says, it’s a tough job—but he was basically trying to prove that it isn't actually free work.

I mean, I honestly think the mods are doing it for the money, like they're getting paid for how they act (not in cash, obviously).

If we're actually following that logic, you gotta go after the root cause, because moderation is just a symptom.

I guess you just gotta have that thing the mods give you deep down inside, and like, be hungry enough to actually go after it. Maybe.

I'm not saying every single moderator was picked on purpose. Some of them definitely just drifted into the role by accident, but I guess it’s all part of the same process anyway.

Yeah, whatever, I don't want to be a mod. I don't really care if other people feel like they need to be mods or whatever, though. I guess it just seems like a weird need to have.
Honestly, I can't stand the people who only act tough because they have some tiny bit of authority here. It’s just a way for them to feel important since nobody actually respects them in real life, I guess.

I guess I actually respect the ones who have good intentions, you know? Like, people trying to make this digital space actually decent for everyone. Gotta admit, there's been more of them lately, I suppose. 👍

Yeah, maybe there's another candidate out there—someone from China—who'd be an amazing moderator. But honestly, it’s embarrassing to admit, and you guys will probably just lose her talent and goodwill if you don't figure out who she is. So, if the admin is actually interested, maybe hit me up via PM? I guess she'd just be pissed if I called her out publicly as a candidate.
🙂

Richard Perez3 said:But look, we don't do trash threads on PŽK, so I guess the optimists are more than welcome. 🙂

Was that even being optimistic? I guess. Maybe.
If not, I'm out. Honestly, maybe a pessimist is just an optimist with actual experience. 😳

Zachary Barrett4 said:It’s been happening lately with more and more people.

Does Reddit have some official stance on why users are losing their accounts?

Reddit should probably say something if passwords were leaked from their database, but as far as I know, even a superadmin can't see them since they're all encrypted.

So, I guess accounts get stolen when people infect themselves with keyloggers or whatever spyware, or maybe they just use their passwords on sketchy sites where the login stays saved on the machine.

Just clean your computers regularly with anti-spyware... there's free stuff out there like Malwarebytes, Spybot, or SuperAntiSpyware that finds junk on your PC. Just clean up after yourselves.

Also, maybe read what your computer is asking before you click "Yes," especially if you aren't on your own device—and definitely pay attention if it asks to save your password after you type it in.

And since everything starts with your email—like signing up for the forum or changing a password—you gotta protect your email login too.

Oh, and if you're clicking around porn sites, you seriously need decent antivirus, anti-spyware, anti-malware, and a good firewall.

And one more thing, Facebook screwed you over. 🤣
