Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
Kate Garcia67 said:Yeah, I tried the whole old-school uninstall and reinstalling the latest version, but still nothing. Oh, forgot to mention—the mic is built right into the camera. Audio sounds fine, everything, it’s just the video feed that's acting up.

That's weird... audio works perfectly but the picture is trashed? 🤷
Does your camera have some kind of image enhancement setting? Usually there's a little button, maybe shaped like a circle or something, if it even has one.

Whatever, man. If you really want to get technical about it, it's a PC. 😁

Just try grabbing the latest drivers for your camera,
wipe out the old ones, install the new stuff, and reboot the computer

then see if it’s still acting up

So I've got this one issue. Running Windows 7 right now, but I'm trying something else and the camera just won't cooperate. I've already installed the driver, but the second I try to turn it on, boom—Blue Screen of Death. We've tried a bunch of times to get the webcam to actually connect, but it's useless. It starts to look okay for a split second, then everything just crashes into a blue screen and shuts down. Anyone have any clue what needs to be done to fix this camera mess? Thanks!

How to burn subtitles into a video file in Software ·
Joshua Garcia3 said:Man, I had this happen with Naiso once. The subtitles just wouldn't sync up with the movie no matter what I tried. After messing around with it for a few days, I finally realized there was a massive chunk missing right in the middle—like a couple of minutes just gone. Someone probably tried to be "pro" by ripping two different DVDs onto one single disc 🤷 and then slapped it on a torrent. 😁

I ran into the exact same thing with that Solomon Kan release
The subs were a total disaster. Every single one I downloaded from the web was completely off. I honestly thought, "What, is this a new movie and nobody bothered to make decent subtitles yet?" Turns out, there’s just a gap in the actual footage, maybe two minutes worth, right in the middle.
So yeah, I just grabbed the file again and fixed the timing myself. 😁

placidcobra49 said:...or honestly, most of the time you just need to nudge the first and last word of a line using Subtitle Workshop and everything snaps right into place!!

Sure, that works if things are mostly okay. But what happens when some hack completely trashes the entire subtitle file? No software on the planet can fix that. You'll have half the movie looking fine and then suddenly—boom—total disaster halfway through. Just an example, but you know how it goes. 😁

You'll lose your mind trying to get the timing right. 😁

Honestly, if it’s anything less than 1Gb, I wouldn't even bother recommending it to anyone. 😁

lonemason8 said:okay, finally got it working. managed to grab a new subtitle file and it actually works right out of the box without messing with any settings. does it really require finding one specific version? because this is like my sixth attempt at downloading subtitles for Avatar and only this one actually fits...

Look, when you're hunting for subs, you gotta make sure the filename matches the movie file exactly. Like, look at this

Avatar.[2009].DVDRip.Xvid.Blood

Something like that is what you'll see when you download from a site. When you're searching, try to match the title as closely as possible. Doesn't have to be a perfect mirror, just an example

If that doesn't work, honestly? Just keep scrolling through the list until you find one that fits. Usually, a decent sub file is tiny—maybe 20 to 80KB. It's way less of a headache to just grab a fresh one that actually works than to waste your life trying to sync some wonky, mismatched file. 👍

restlesslynx8 said:Look, 1GB of RAM isn't even the bare minimum, it's more like what they suggest... whatever. I mean, the thing actually runs on 512MB because I've done it before, but honestly? I'm starting to give up on trying to squeeze 😂
onto this junk.
Anyway, now I'm having issues installing Windows XP, so I'm thinking the hard drive is shot... we'll see how it goes... 🙄

Sure, you can try to install it, but how much time do you want to waste waiting ten minutes just for the system to boot up?
You really need at least 1GB of RAM if you want to run Windows 7 properly.

Check out this tool—you can actually use it to check if your rig is even compatible with Windows 7 before you waste your time installing it.

restlesslynx8 said:I mean, I don't know... I tossed Windows 7 onto a rig with 512MB of RAM the other day... and it actually ran fine...

How is that even possible? My system is already eating up 758MB of RAM just sitting there 😂

You really shouldn't be touching Windows 7 on any machine with less than 1GB of RAM. Like, 1GB is the bare minimum, period.
Those old relics with 512MB of RAM? Honestly, just leave them running Windows XP. They'll perform way better than if you try to torture them by forcing Windows 7 on them. 👍

Justin Gray81 said:Yeah, alright, my bad. I messed up here. 🤷
I followed everything in those links you sent, 🙂 but there’s no flag to be found anywhere, 😉 and even the ADDS documentation doesn't mention it. 🤷

So now you know. Hit me up if you need anything else. 👍

Joshua Garcia3 said:Douglas Garcia52@ the mistake is they didn't hit the icon at the end to let Microsoft finish what it started. 🙂

Anyway, here are some instructions I found on an American forum:

I guess that’s where he messed up too, right? 👍

once you get used to something actually working reliably, it's gotta live up to that standard, right?😁 👍

Honestly, Acronis is basically the gospel when it comes to partitioning

Justin Gray81 said:I followed the manual to a T—mostly because I didn't want to screw up any settings inside the app itself... It told me everything was fine three separate times, but clearly, it wasn't 🤷
Whatever, though... this other guy actually knew what he was doing and got the job done right 🙂

Thanks, everyone 👍

look, if you did it that way and just let Acronis run its course until the end (which can take forever depending on how many features you toggled on), then things should be fine. You just gotta wait for Acronis to finish its thing 👍
but hey, if you managed to pull it off using some other software, then whatever, mission accomplished 👍

Taylor Morales31 said:Not sure if they'll even let him shrink the system partition, usually doesn't work like that👍

He can definitely resize the system one. I've messed with both the OS drive and secondary ones before. First, he needs to shrink that system partition—probably his C: drive—down to whatever size he actually wants, and then
just shrink the other one and grab whatever space is left over to make a third partition
Honestly, the Acronis Disk Director suite is the gold standard for this stuff. I'm always using it to slice up and resize partitions, and so far, zero headaches
Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
just listen to what Joshua Garcia3 is saying—Acronis Disk Director suite works exactly how you'd want it to
you can whip up as many partitions as you feel like, and you call the shots on the sizes 🙂

looks like that's only available on the Home Premium version(SP1)

casualdriver83 said:is Ultimate really the heaviest one? I downloaded all the different versions at once so I can just pick one if I want, so that's fine, but... if Ultimate is supposedly the best for browsing and movies, I guess I'll just grab that.

I don't know exactly which one eats up the most resources, but Ultimate is definitely near the top. Maybe Professional is actually better than Ultimate, but who knows? I haven't even touched it, so I'm just guessing. Honestly, for gaming, streaming, or just surfing the web, it doesn't really matter—any of them will get the job done.

If you've already got all the installers sitting there, just try them out and see which one actually feels right for what you're doing. 👍

casualdriver83 said:thanks, I'll give it a shot... but which one should I actually go with? I can't really play any games, so I don't need anything high-end, just stuff for streaming movies and whatever else online

just grab the ultimate version.👍 I've been running it on 1GB of RAM for a year now and everything works fine, though you probably ought to pick up a decent graphics card at some point👍
