Is Lewis Hamilton leaving Ford? in Formula 1 ·

Honestly, it's about time he jumped ship to a different series. Who knows? Maybe he actually finds some success there. 👍

I watched the replay and actually drifted off three times during those 25 laps... on a Sunday afternoon 🤣
It broke the NASCAR record, and I honestly thought something like that was physically impossible 😳

Maybe the rain played a part since it was pouring all day...
The race was a race, and it wasn't exactly mind-numbing, just incredibly slow.
The engine noise isn't even that loud or intense; they might as well just mute it.

Who hasn't seen this? It's right here if you want to check it out...

Now I just gotta figure out how long it'll take me to totally trash this video.😁

Formula 1 fan second—period.
My heart just breaks when I'm out riding my bike through gorgeous scenery (check the pics on my PDF bike from Black Forest) and some half-decayed cadet cruises by and everything reeks.

Once we kill off the internal combustion engine and electric cars are the only things left on the road, nature is actually going to look—and smell—way better.

Even planes will run on electricity eventually. One day.

And that is exactly why we need Formula E.

The only catch with electric motors is that pollution still exists. The real question is whether it's actually less than gas or diesel engines.🤷
Honestly, it might even be worse for the sky. The only big difference is that the mess is concentrated in one spot—not coming from cars, but from the power plants.😉

Nobody wants to talk about the fact that electricity isn't magic. You have to produce it and transport it, and every single time you convert or move energy, you lose some along the way.
The core issue here is what kind of disaster we're looking at if everyone switches to electric while we're facing massive energy shortages. We'll end up building a mountain of nuclear plants and diesel/gas generators just to keep up.
Forget those fairy tales about renewable energy; they can't produce anything close to the scale we need, not to mention the total lack of economic sense.

At the end of the day, you have to ask: what's a bigger disaster? A Foucault or Chernobyl scenario, or some old cadet farting near a cyclist?
Don't even get me started on the battery situation.

Bottom line: until someone figures out how to generate massive amounts of power from a truly clean and affordable source, nothing much changes for the atmosphere.
If you really think about it, an F1 hybrid might actually be cleaner than a pure EV in Formula E, because the real question is where the juice in those Formula E batteries actually comes from.

ruggedhawk20 said:You're being way too harsh. It's just a racing incident—there's no reason to punish him.

Especially since it happened practically on the last corner of the final lap. You gotta let that slide.

Save the penalties for the kamikazes who smash into everyone at Turn 1 on the first lap.

"Racing incident," my foot.
That was straight-up ramming someone because he couldn't handle being overtaken on the last lap... pure desperation and rage.

Total Pastor Maldonado move.

I have this nagging memory of reading it somewhere, and since the race is next weekend, it would be pretty wild to see them competing on the same side of the garage. 😁

Now, the big question is how they’re going to penalize Prost. There’s already talk about a one-race ban, which—if you ask me—is total overkill. Sure, he messed up, but a ten-place penalty or making him start from the back should be plenty.

Regardless, no matter how "ugly" that finish was, it’s basically served as a massive spotlight. Everyone and their mother is going to be talking about how this race ended for weeks.

If that isn't ban-worthy, then I honestly have no clue what is.

Honestly, if you ask me, this is way worse than that disaster Grosjean and Hamilton caused at the Belgian GP...
Because there's zero doubt here about intention or who did what... it's crystal clear that Prost did this on purpose.

P.S. Quick Nick is a total wimp... I half expected him to slap the kid, but nope, nothing.

Look, if Kevin Magnussen actually deserves a penalty for this, then Lewis Hamilton definitely does too. 🤣
And seriously, if we're blaming Rosberg, why aren't we pointing the finger at Fernando Alonso for doing the exact same thing? 😁

Man, the situation is basically identical...
The only difference is that Alonso got spooked and veered off track, whereas Rosberg just gritted his teeth and stayed put, which is exactly why they collided.
cosmiccyclist8 said:Come on, ruggedhawk20. Back in the nineties, he never would've handed up a spot like that to Nico Rosberg. He definitely wouldn't have ended up in the grass. What exactly was anyone expecting from Rosberg?...

Give me a break. 🤣
I’ve gotta be honest, I’m just not a fan of Lewis Hamilton, but I’ve always had a soft spot for Nico Rosberg.
Man, this is just pure nonsense. 🤦

It wasn't even a matter of Rosberg having room on the track. He was so far away from the edge that you could have squeezed a third car in there and overtaken him on the outside without breaking a sweat. 😍
And if that’s a sure thing, then I guess it’s also a sure thing that he wouldn't have ended up in the grass. 🤣
Who’s to blame?

It was just your standard racing incident where two stubborn drivers refuse to back down...
It isn't about whether it's Rosberg or Hamilton. They're both at fault, 50-50.☕
What are you even on about?
Look at the photo. It’s crystal clear that the mechanics are all around the car—including behind it—right as it starts moving, when at least half the car is already gone...
And they get penalized if they don't clear out 15 seconds before the green light hits...
steelmaker83 said:Yeah, they should have. Though, punishing drivers for team blunders feels pretty stupid... if teams make mistakes like that, dock their points instead of making the driver sit out parts of the race.

That would only make sense if Formula 1 wasn't a team sport, but it is...
Look, you can't separate the driver from the crew when it comes to the car or pit stop speed (just look at the gap between Haas and Mercedes-Benz), so you can't separate them when the team screws up either.
It makes zero sense for a driver to take all the glory when everything goes perfectly—even if the crew did basically all the work—but on the flip side, they shouldn't be totally off the hook when the team messes up. 😉

But this nonsense with Fernando Alonso is just 🙂 because other drivers get slapped with way harsher penalties for much smaller team screw-ups...
At the end of the day, what's the point of a driver losing ground because the team ruins the car and they DNF? Or if a wheel nut isn't tightened properly in the pits and they barely lose anything? It's ridiculous.
steelmaker83 said:They're defending him just because he went up against Fernando Alonso, and since everyone loves hating on Alonso, they'll take any excuse to play the victim....

I used to think they were defending him because Alonso's penalty was embarrassingly light....
Let's be real, Kevin Magnussen absolutely earned his penalty ☕
But honestly? Alonso had no business being anywhere near Magnussen either. He deserved a much heavier penalty—he should have been at least 20 or 30 seconds behind Magnussen. What happened there warranted at least a pit stop, if not a full 10-second stop-and-go...

Honestly, I have no clue when or where... I can't be bothered to dig through old threads, but if I recall correctly, I once had a prediction score north of 80 points. 😉

All I know for sure is that I currently hold the record for the absolute lowest score possible. 😬
And honestly, it’s going to be a tough record to break. I've tried to fail even harder a few times now, but it just hasn't worked out. 🤣

Also, I'm pretty sure I managed a streak of three or four wins in a row during that same season. You won't find it in the results list, though, because Amazon was being difficult and forgot to actually add those races to the thread. 😁

than yours.
Chris Robinson25 said:Hamilton definitely has a nose for bad teammates... Alonso, Rosberg... guy probably still has some trauma from that.

You forgot Jenson Button...
Basically, the only ones who didn't get slapped by him were Alonso and Smith. 😁

Cool photo, by the way. 🤣

We should come up with something regarding Rosberg/Hamilton in this same style. 😬 🤣
graniteharbor502 said:A buddy told me Ted Kravitz mentioned Vettel was running Ricciardo's setup because a car issue on Friday killed his chance at a race simulation. That would explain why Vettel's tires were shredding faster and why his race pace looked so sluggish. Anyone actually catch him saying this?

Yep Ted said it...
But you don't need to be a genius to figure that out. 😁

God, Vettel didn't even run Free Practice 2, which is basically the whole point of that session—dialing in the race setup...
Plus, he barely did anything in Free Practice 1 (only 11 laps) and then just ten laps in Free Practice 3... compared to Ricciardo, who put in 44 laps total during practice.

And since these cars are completely new and totally unknown, he pretty much had zero choice but to copy Ricciardo's setup...
Last year's data probably wasn't worth a damn when it comes to things like brake-by-wire settings or how to manage battery deployment and all that.
Timothy Castillo6 said:With that new software update, he actually shaved a second off Ricciardo, who was struggling on trashed tires during those last nine laps. 😂

Not exactly a miracle, considering he barely touched the track during practice because of that PU failure.
So yeah, zero chance to dial in the setup, plus he’s basically driving a Frankenstein car cobbled together from old PU components that have already seen better days...

Beyond that, there were just fundamental issues with the car. There's no way everything was fine if he was bleeding that much time in Sector 2 while somehow staying right on Ricciardo's heels in Sectors 1 and 3.
