Hospital visitation bans in Health ·
Imagine you’re stuck hooked up to machines all day, just staring at the ceiling while nobody checks in on you... and you can't even bug your sister to bring you something—you know, something personal or maybe just a quick run to Target.
I really hope you aren't thinking about calling home to ask them to drop stuff off, though... I mean, you are in the hospital, after all.
Hospital visitation bans in Health ·
You go visit someone just to show you care—to let them know they aren't alone so they don't start spiraling into some dark, useless thoughts...
Maybe hospitals should just implement visitation rooms modeled after prison visiting areas—you know, put a nurse in there to make sure nobody’s touching or smuggling in chocolate or candy. I mean, who’s actually guaranteeing there isn't bacteria all over the wrapper? It's a hospital, for crying out loud, not some daycare center or a strip club.
That last bit was a joke, so don't take it personally.
Look, shadownomad43, what you're saying doesn't make sense to me... not everyone thinks with your level of blunt cynicism. Take a woman undergoing surgery for a tumor, for instance—having her kids and husband show up just to show support so she recovers faster... that kind of thing means everything to people.
Back about three years ago, I used to do this alongside my summer workouts—running for at least 4 or 5 minutes straight, maybe 6 months out of the year

My muscles didn't ache nearly as much—it was more like they were just... resetting after a workout🙂 plus I wasn't sweating through my clothes half as often.
But I gotta be honest, after ten months of doing that, I ended up with a pinched nerve in my back. It usually happened during the winter when I wasn't dressed warmly enough, or if I’d get all sweaty working outside and didn't swap into dry clothes fast enough... then the chill hits the nerve and it just hurts like hell. For a few days, I can't even find a comfortable way to lie in bed because the pain is everywhere, no matter how I twist. If I'm going to take a cold shower, I make sure to stay away from my back, even if it means getting my head soaked instead.

Beyond just being good for the body, it does wonders for the mind too. It really lifts your mood—using cold water is a solid way to fight off stress, or at least that’s been my experience, anyway...🙂
I don't know the guy personally—maybe try tracking down his profile and sliding into his DMs? Or, if he left an email floating around somewhere, just shoot him a message there... might be easier...

Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better—honestly, just try to eat more veggies and fruit if you can... you really need those vitamins.
Honestly, there’s no need to bother with downloading anything manually when you can just use my link—just stick to those cleaner links on that website instead.
You get to pick whatever format you're feeling; it defaults to converting the video straight to an mp3—just the music, really—but you can grab just about any format you want if you feel like it.
Yeah, you can actually just do it right through your browser here https://www.onlinevideoconverter.com/video-converter
—you can even pick out the quality you want if you're feeling picky...

Just snap a photo of those lines with your phone so I can see what we're dealing with.

Otherwise, maybe try running a cleanup with this tool http://www.iobit.com/en/advancedsystemcarefree.php—just check all the boxes, let the scan run, and then hit that "automatic fix" button at the bottom when it's done.
Occasional Wi-Fi connection issues in IT Support ·
I don't think the walls are actually the issue here—it's definitely not like you just got a router yesterday that's struggling through drywall...
You should probably just call AT&T and tell them this happens all the time with the Wi-Fi, then demand they swap out the hardware. They gave me a new one without any hassle. For a while, they were pushing these cheap black routers—the technician actually told me they were bottom-of-the-barrel and caused nothing but headaches—but eventually, he swapped it for a decent unit and now everything runs smooth, just like it used to.

Sean Barrett35 said:I’m a nail biter too, but it’s not even a nervous thing for me—it’s just what I do when I’m bored. Like, during my commute to work, sitting in front of the TV, stuff like that... just mindless habit.
Anyway, I haven't touched them in three days now. Just decided to quit because my fingers are absolutely killing me... I’ve been biting them down to the quick lately.

If you guys are looking for a little distraction to help stop the finger biting, check this out:

I think I saw Amazon carrying this thing somewhere, or maybe I just imagined it. I know I saw it listed online... somewhere...

Maybe try switching up your diet—if home-cooked meals aren't hitting the spot, just experiment with something else. At least until your system gets used to the change...
Try sticking to veggies, maybe some salad, and throw in some fruit on the side. Just keep testing different foods to see what sticks, and if nothing seems to help, then go see a doctor.

Bottom line is, this isn't normal... I’ve never experienced anything like it. The only time I ever lost my appetite was when I was dealing with a cold or the flu, but even then, things slowly started picking back up after that.
Maybe this will actually be useful for you

If you’re constantly bleeding, you can't just slap a Band-Aid on it and call it a day... that doesn't actually fix anything. You have to figure out why you're getting cut in the first place—like, maybe stay away from the kitchen knives, for starters.

The real move is tackling the root cause by trying to build a life that isn't such a constant stress cooker.
Maybe pick up a hobby to take the edge off—swimming, running, sketching, whatever helps you unwind. And in the meantime, just wear gloves so it's harder to snack on your nails.

Either you've got some garbage drivers, or the chip inside your laptop is just being unstable...

Try reinstalling the drivers or even a clean OS install—just to see if the issue sticks around. If you can, grab the latest versions from the manufacturer's site.

If it turns out to be the chip itself, a decent workaround is just picking up a USB Wi-Fi adapter. You can find those tiny ones that don't stick out too much, though personally, I prefer the ones with an antenna since the reception is usually better.

Look, it could also be the router. It might be acting up specifically with your computer because a PC is way more demanding than a phone.

Is it safe to download Java from this link? in IT Support ·
bluetiger13 said:Windows 10 Pro. I'm running a 32-bit OS right now—even though my processor is x64.
That's what the system says.
I'm trying to download Java so I can finally dive into programming—but is it failing because I'm missing some other setup or something?

Did anyone actually tell you that you *had* to grab that specific version from the link you posted? I mean, did you pick up some textbooks or find an online course to follow for learning Java yet?

I never really dove into Java myself—my coding knowledge is pretty much amateur hour at best—but honestly, what you're looking at there seems more geared toward big corporations wanting to bake their own apps into the Java ecosystem. If you're just starting out, you don't need all that baggage... at least not right now.

Unless someone gave you different instructions—like if you're signed up for a class or following some online tutorial—they’d usually suggest an IDE where you actually write the code. You gotta start with the basics first...

Something like Eclipse or Netbeans would be more your speed, but again, since I'm just messing around with code on the side, I can't give you the deep technical details...
Best muscle relaxers? in Health ·
brighteagle26 said:Are there any pills out there for muscle relaxation? I remember Muscle Feeder used to be a thing, but you can't find it anymore...

maybe just crush them up and hide them in some food...😁 just kidding

I know exactly what you're getting at. You dealing with cramps?? Honestly, just try taking magnesium supplements or eat more bananas—they're loaded with it. People say if you're getting those spasms, it's usually because you're running low on magnesium... your body just burns through it. Apparently, certain medications can actually deplete your levels, too. I was on an asthma inhaler—Albuterol—back in the day, and I was constantly getting leg cramps because of it. If that sounds like what you're going through, maybe ask your doctor to switch you to something else with different ingredients...

Maybe try grabbing some fresher drivers and running the install

Maybe you could drop your specs and what kind of OS you're running... I mean, have you actually swapped out the OS since you last sat down for a gaming session?

Did you try a clean install on those GPU drivers?

NTLDR is missing error - how to fix? in IT Support ·
At least things aren't as bad on my end—if one machine craps out, I just pull tools and whatever else I need from the others...

Anyway, Windows XP is what, sixteen years old now? It’s ancient. They stopped pushing updates ages ago, so you're basically flying blind. If you can, I’d try to get Windows 7 on there instead... maybe kill off all the extra fluff like Aero to keep the thing snappy. Seems a bit safer, and honestly, just better...
Or, you know, maybe just think about buying something new?
