What does this "vulgar" word mean? in Miscellaneous ·
placidjackal36 said:To "screw up" basically means to mess things up, ruin something, or break a function in a totally chaotic way.

For instance, imagine if Grandma slipped and tumbled all the way down the stairs? She would be completely wiped out.

You might also look into the term to blow it.

If you want to imply someone is getting ready or dressing up, it might be better to use a verb like to spruce up (like when > gets all dressed up for a night out on the town).

You actually handled that much better than him.

Personally, I feel like being "wiped out" is just a synonym for being "screwed" ( 🙂 ).

I can't help but offer my own glowing recommendation for dr. Tomislav Milas over in Miami (who is an incredible dentist). Honestly, this gentleman deserves every bit of praise he receives for the work he does. 🙏 🙏

This isn't even a real forum...
By the time this whole wave passes, you'll finally get signed up.
It really needs to be something... like an immediate, total reset...
For instance, I would give anything just to be able to trigger one single nuclear reactor😬
I'd be in awe for the rest of my life, and honestly, there wouldn't be any more stress to deal with.

Well, here's the thing....
there used to be this kind of therapy designed specifically for people who just have an overwhelming urge to smash things up.
I remember hearing about it being available in either the States or maybe over in Spain—honestly, I can't quite recall which, though it was ages ago now.
The idea was to load up a bus with folks who are feeling incredibly stressed, give them a bunch of stuff to break, and then head straight to the landfill.
Each person would "take care of" maybe four or five cars by smashing out windows or destroying whatever else they could get their hands on.
Then, they’d just hop back on the bus and head straight home.
People actually swear that it works wonders....

As for me, I usually just stick to breaking glasses..... and I have to say, I'm pretty good at it. 🙂
If those "textbook" symptoms end up lingering longer than anyone would expect, I figure that’s really when it’s time to start getting concerned...
In any case, people like that just need a little extra time to process everything.

😂

Honestly, I have to laugh at myself sometimes...
I think I’d actually die of pure boredom if I weren't constantly doing something while I walk, whether it's staying active or just wandering around aimlessly.

If you truly claim to be a perfectionist, you have to admit that you can be a bit of a pain in the neck sometimes...
just like I am, for instance.
Everything simply has to turn out exactly how you envisioned it in your head, without a single flaw.
I honestly think there is such a deep connection here, because if you ever decide to cut corners, were you even really a perfectionist to begin with?

But really, don't you see the striking similarity between that mindset and how UPS operates?
Let's talk perfectionism: General discussion in Psychology ·
I find the whole thing quite amusing, actually...
being a bit of a perfectionist...it seems to really get under some people's skin, doesn't it?

I do have a question for the group...
does anyone else feel that perfectionism might be linked to OCD...?

Dana Morales64 said:This has been an issue for as long as I can remember—I’ve always been a social creature, someone who thrives in a crowd. When I'm out with people, everything feels effortless; time flies, there's no boredom, and life just seems manageable. But the second I walk through my front door, I’m lost. I’ll step into my room, and within two minutes, the restlessness kicks in. If the house is quiet, it’s even worse—this wave of paranoia and anxiety just hits me out of nowhere. If I go a few days without seeing anyone, things start getting weird; I feel like I'm losing my grip, I get hit with this intense fear when I'm out walking, sweating, constantly looking over my shoulder, terrified that I’m eventually going to end up completely alone. Then, I hang out with friends and suddenly everything is fine again. It’s like I have these social batteries that drain incredibly fast—if I don't "recharge" by being around people every couple of days, I hit some kind of internal social crisis. It’s possible I’m more attached to certain people than I let on, even though I’m never clingy or overbearing in a group setting. As far as actual life decisions go, though, I’m fine—I can handle pressure and I usually know exactly what the right move is.
The core of it, though, is purely social—this constant, nagging fear that I’ll end up isolated, even if there isn't a logical reason to feel that way since I have plenty of friends and a solid support system.
Has anyone else dealt with this kind of cycle, and if so, how did you manage it?

I know exactly what you mean...
I am still trying to heal from that nagging thought that nobody truly cares about me...

Ronald Morales2 said:Wait, if I’m getting this right, we’re talking about OCD or maybe obsessive-compulsive neurosis?
Just asking out of curiosity—how do you actually treat it?
Has anyone here actually kicked it? How long did it take and did it actually work?

I'm asking because I'm reading this and seeing a ton of my own symptoms.
Like, when I organize things, they have to be perfect, down to the millimeter, or exactly how I see them in my head. Even at the grocery store, I’ll rearrange the shelves because I can't stand how they look.
I even pull items off the shelves backward just because I'm worried about bacteria.
There was a time when I was obsessed with scanning my PC for viruses five times a day; now, I find myself checking everything ten times before I leave the house.
Sometimes I do these stupid little rituals a hundred times in a row...

I know, you guys probably think, "What a weirdo."
But yeah... I'm definitely not normal.

Yes... people are always asking me why I do it.
It's because this bag looks all crumpled up, or this one looks nicer...
Or even when I'm getting deli meat sliced at the grocery store...
If the slices aren't perfectly layered, I'll bring them home and meticulously restack them one by one so they sit just right.
🤣 🤣 😁 🤣

Where should I even begin...

I lock the door... walk out of my driveway... get about 200 yards away from the house... then I turn right back around...
The door was locked just a second ago... but you know how it goes... of course, I’m running late..

Closing doors. When I'm in a massive rush and practically flying through the house... I'll head into a room and slam the door shut with this loud, heavy thud... I'm moving so fast that I'm already mentally onto the next task, yet this compulsion just hits me... so I get up and proceed to open and close that door exactly 7 times perfectly.

You see what I mean... it's all centered around that number 7 this week.7... It doesn't strictly have to be 7, but if it isn't, it has to be 14, or maybe 16 (which is 6+1),
17, 21....

Walking home... stepping on the sidewalk... you can probably guess the rest of the story... except for me, I have to step with my right foot and my toe has to land precisely in the middle of the line...

We're sitting in a cafe... everyone stands up to leave... but I have to remain seated for exactly 7 seconds... because if I don't, the pattern is broken.

It's the same way I find myself convinced that something terrible has to happen immediately after a string of good events occurs...

I'll even find myself deleting contacts from my phone's address book just so everything aligns with the magic of the number... 7.

I count the white lines in the middle of the road while I'm driving... just the other day... I counted so many... up to about 274 or something like that... and then there were no more lines left... so what happens when the number isn't divisible? The next divisible one would be 280... which means now I'm searching for a way to make up the difference...
So... 7 plus the 6 I needed to reach 280 when I was counting those lines...

I don't really consider these to be major problems... in a way, I actually find it somewhat entertaining...
Does anyone else here deal with the magic of the number 7?
Greetings to everyone on the forum!
