I guess maybe Walmart charges you a fee for sending money too, and it looks like it could be close to 15% if I'm not mistaken.
Why don't you just send it directly to their account through SWIFT instead?

brightwolf63 said:Question:

Is it actually possible for an online transfer from my JPMorgan Chase account to another bank—specifically Bank of America—to be delayed simply because... get this... it's the weekend? 😕 😕 😕

Are we really at a point where transactions just don't move over the weekend???

I sent the payment late yesterday evening, and the current status of the transfer—or rather, the amount sent—is sitting there as a 'pending reservation.'

This is an old thread, but I figured someone might find this info helpful.
The ACH system doesn't really process anything at any US bank over the weekend.
If you send it on a Friday before 2 PM, it usually hits the other account that same day, otherwise, it probably won't show up until Monday morning.
It isn't anything specific to JPMorgan Chase; it's just how all the banks work here.

Lawrence Wells3 said:After seeing some of those posts lately, I honestly feel a bit embarrassed for anyone working in the insurance industry. I suppose I’m just relieved that when I sign off on a policy, everything is completely transparent and we charge exactly what is stated on the paper. It must be incredibly difficult to do your job when people are handing out under-the-table discounts based on little more than personal connections—you know, the whole "we're all neighbors here" mentality—just to get a lower rate now, only to face a massive headache later. Personally, I’d much rather stay out of the game entirely than spend my time playing guessing games with customers like some street vendor at a flea market.$167

Well, if you're the one paying those high premiums, just wait until you get hit by someone driving a car with that cheap coverage—then you'll be praying to God.
If your "premium" insurance is so great, why isn't it covering your damages directly instead of forcing you to fight with the other person's insurance company after their driver wrecks your car?

Here is just one more reason why I will NEVER insure anything with State Farm again.
There is this guy who has been a loyal customer since 1974, and he has NEVER even filed a claim until last year.
Now that the market is more competitive, they finally decided to offer him a loyalty discount in the amount of:
$0.35 !!!!!!!!!!!!

$9.75That’s the total discount they offered for forty years of loyalty, so that's how much they care about him!
And just in case anyone thinks I'm making this up, I’m attaching a scan of the actual offer right here.

I don't think I've ever actually had any luck using a Mastercard on PayPal, if I'm being honest.
Maybe you could give the Visa Electron from your checking account a shot?

Gregory Foster4 I guess maybe someone was saying...
I guess if you don't have online banking set up yet—like, maybe you haven't even gotten a card reader or a security token—you might want to check in with JP Morgan Chase about how to get Verified by Google enabled. I suppose they could probably help you get everything sorted out since you aren't using their digital tools just yet.
Thanks! 🙂

Do you happen to have that customer number they sent over along with your PIN?
So, I guess you might need to make a quick purchase online using your card instead of PayPal, and then it looks like they'll ask you to register and maybe change that number into one of your own?
I guess the process might be pretty much the same with Verified by Google, regardless of which bank actually issued your card.

It’ll probably end up costing more than $33.
Maybe you could just head over to the registration calculator website and select a new registration instead of a renewal, then you'll get a better idea of the price. 😁
If you turn in your title, those folks over at the Department of Justice put this huge red "CANCELLED" stamp right over it, so there isn't really anything left to update or record on the Standard & Poor's report.
I know the whole process pretty well since I had to deal with all of that a couple of years ago when I couldn't quite get my car fixed within that 15-day window.
I think they do hold onto the plates for free, but I guess that’s only for about three months.
If you go ahead and turn in the plates too, you might end up paying twice for the new ones later on$25.

I mean, you don't necessarily have to go threatening them with the press, but as a customer, you definitely have every right to speak up about how they're treating you and show them you're not happy with their service.
Honestly, though, when it comes to making threats about calling the local news, I guess in a country where the mindset is still kind of stuck in the past, that might be the only thing that actually works, because if you just try to ask for something nicely and handle things in a calm, civilized way, they might just toss you aside like you don't matter at all.

I guess it just feels like they always try to pull you back at the last second just to make sure you hand over the cash instead of going elsewhere, because if you walk out the door, they lose their commission, so I usually prefer to handle everything via email or even just a quick phone call, since it’s much easier to cut ties with them that way if things go sideways.

redcrane22 said:Yeah, you really should go get that inspection done. I actually got lucky once where I missed my deadline by a year and didn't get hit with a ticket, but honestly, I was probably just a statistical anomaly.
Bottom line is, that fine is eventually coming for you. Your best bet is to officially take the car off the road—basically cancel the registration and let them hold onto the plates if needed—fix the issues, and then go for the inspection once it's ready. If you don't handle it that way, you're going to end up with a citation regardless of whether your insurance is paid up or not.

If he decides to de-register the vehicle, then his next registration might end up being treated like a brand-new one, which means he’ll have to pay for new title paperwork, and I guess that makes the whole registration process a bit more expensive.
He’d have to turn the plates back in to the Department of Justice, and they can hold them for him for maybe three months if that's what he wants.
And if he doesn't de-register within 15 days after the registration expires, he’ll likely face a fine $250.
If he goes for the inspection while the car isn't ready and fails, he'll have about 15 days to fix everything and try again; during that time, he should be okay to drive since he'll have proof that he attempted the inspection right when the registration expired.

ironangler22 said:Just stumbled upon this news story...

Does this mean our insurance options are about to shrink? 🙂--kind of worried about that!

This news is from September 2012, 🙂 and from what I can tell, nothing too crazy actually happened.
Actually, if anything, Allianz is still leading the pack in profits ahead of State Farm and everyone else.
For instance, they offered me (if I renew with them) a free bonus protector policy covering up to 40$0.00 in damages for three years, plus an extra policy for the driver at fault covering bodily injury or death up to 500$0.00.

They also offered me their cheapest mandatory liability policy, $650 which includes passenger coverage of 40,000 / 80,000, and that’s about the same price I’d get from State Farm or GEICO.$667

Someone mentioned earlier that State Farm was offering a $167 lower registration price in the Midwest, but I checked with them yesterday and they want $693 including the passenger coverage. (In the US, they ask $667 for that as well)

Anyway, regarding the quality of the coverage—if you care more about service than just finding the lowest price—my personal ranking would be:
1. GENERAL
2. State Farm
3. EVERYONE ELSE

So, I was chatting with someone today who works over at an office here in the States.
They mentioned that a new pricing structure is coming out in February, so maybe they'll be able to hook me up with a better deal then.
But honestly, I guess I have no clue what things will look like once February actually rolls around.

I actually managed to snag a discount like that through an insurance provider last year.
The policy will show the full official amount, but then you just end up paying them a slightly smaller amount on your bill.
It all seems totally legit since everything looks perfectly official on the paperwork, so I guess you wouldn't run into any issues at all.😁

Thanks @Elon Musk,
I sent them an email, but I guess they haven't gotten back to me yet.
The guy over in the States mentioned I should probably just pay him at his Washington, D.C. branch, since he said he could offer a better rate there because of all the competition, but I suspect that might just be a bit of a sales pitch since those agents probably get paid based on how many policies they sign up.

Nicole Long28 said:My car is 140 hp. Last year, I grabbed a 20% discount through GEICO and it ended up being $1100.

The deal expires next week, and with a 25% discount, GEICO is quoting $2,700 while a local outfit down on the Gulf Coast is offering it for $2,150. Honestly, who even are these guys? It doesn't even matter that much since I won't be filing any claims, but I really don't want to sign my life away to some shady company. What’s their reputation like?

So, how did they get back to you? Did you just send an email or did you actually head down to a local branch?

That’s pretty much it. I guess they don't really care where you get your paycheck from, as long as you show up with your most recent pay stub and have your employer sign off on an authorization form stating your average net pay over the last three months.
If you're looking at ways to secure things, there are basically three routes you can take:
1. A notarized wage garnishment agreement, though that usually comes with a fee of about $47 bucks or so.
2. Signing a blank promissory note at the bank, which is set for twice whatever credit limit they actually approve for you. There aren't any extra fees with that one.
3. Just putting aside enough savings to cover the full amount of the limit they give you.

So, it’s really just one of those three options.
I ended up going with them because, well, they aren't charging any enrollment or membership fees for the first year, plus they have that rewards points program, so I'll probably just see how everything plays out after a year.
Usually, they'll approve a limit equal to three times your net monthly income—including your commute allowance.
But, I think you might be able to bump that up to five times your pay, provided you don't already have an overdraft limit set up on your checking account somewhere else.
JP Morgan Chase in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
I headed over to the Federal Reserve earlier today to sign some paperwork for a Mastercard application.
I guess they’ve rolled out this new system where you just tell them what your salary looks like, and they basically whip up an offer right there on the spot, letting you know immediately if you're approved and what kind of limit you might get based on your income.
Then, if you decide to go ahead with the card, I suppose you just move on to getting everything verified by your employer.

David Parker44 said:go jump in a lake... the cheapest bet is to just bring your own quote from the US... you can even do installments... same price.

I'm not really sure I get it, like why would I bother switching to insurance that's ten times worse if the cost is going to be identical?
Back home in the States, they're quoting me $636 plus some accident coverage. I've got a 15% bonus on my 63kW car.

Gary Reyes9 said:My policy expired last week..
Here’s what I’ve been quoted so far:
Allianz $667
Allianz and another provider at about $1,800
State Farm was asking 1,400...😁...

For a car with 68kW 🙂

I guess I'm wondering what kind of bonus you're getting with those prices?

I guess they mentioned that it's a mandatory requirement if you're working for a small LLC, though I think they don't really ask for it with any of the larger corporations.
Regarding pay stubs, if you're getting your paycheck direct deposited through them or if you happen to have a pretty significant amount of savings sitting in your account there, then maybe they won't even bother asking for a pay stub at all.
JP Morgan Chase in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
I don't actually have a salary deposit there, I was just asking about their Mastercard options last month.
They were offering six months of free account management and online banking, but I ended up passing because they charge a fee to issue the debit card $6.75 so it doesn't really save me much in the end, I guess.

Anyway, what I meant to say is that they really try hard to win over new customers, and you can pretty much negotiate almost anything with them, which is something you'd probably never be able to pull off at a massive bank like JPMorgan Chase.
JP Morgan Chase in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
I guess you won't find much better interest rates on savings at JP Morgan Chase than what those smaller local banks like San Francisco, Cleveland, or BlackRock might offer.

But honestly, you can usually work things out with them if you need a hand, like how they were actually pretty helpful when I applied for my Mastercard and let me skip that whole credit report requirement they normally ask for.
