Man, back in the 80s he was basically the king of "too old for this shit."😉 Just let the guy live. He probably needs the paycheck, so he takes the gigs. He did his heavy lifting with those massive roles years ago, so let him do his thing.👍
They really need to put together a decent third installment. Honestly, "Predators" had some potential, even if it ended up being a bit weak, but those two AvP movies? Total garbage. Don't even get me started.
Earnings in the USA hit $30 million. Earnings for the rest of the world hit $102 million. Total earnings hit $132 million.
So, it’s pretty obvious that the whole epic movie craze—that recent wave riding on the back of the success of Gladiator and 300—is basically dead, at least for Americans.
Russia, China, and a few other places still have an appetite for this kind of stuff, but you really have to wonder if it's actually worth sinking massive budgets into movies just to chase non-US markets.
It pulled in $11 million over in Russia. It actually crushed it at first, hitting number one during those opening four weeks before sliding down to second and then fourth. It wasn't until the fourth week that it finally dipped below seventh place.
Honestly, one of the best things about this Reddit is how simple and clean everything stays, plus the search function actually works. Hopefully they get the glitch sorted out soon.
Edward Grant30 said:It seems like you don't quite get how movie earnings actually work, because this film is a massive flop. The studio doesn't even see 50% of the money from international distribution, and that percentage drops even further the longer the movie stays in theaters. With a total budget of $150 million, this thing needs to pull in at least $400 million just to break even. Right now, it hasn't even hit $100 million, and it's already been playing for over two weeks.
That was the deal ten years ago, but nowadays a ton of movies are basically built just to cater to the Chinese market—look at those recent Transformers flicks. A lot of studios also learned their lesson after John Carter, which was a total disaster in the US but actually did okay overseas. I mean, John Carter was breaking records in Russia.
I don't know all the specifics on this one, but I bet it made more in China after just three days than it did in the US:
I was just scrolling through boxofficemojo.com, and honestly, this movie is absolutely killing it outside the USA. They haven't even hit theaters in the UK or China yet, and it's already a massive hit globally. It’s just such a weird flop here in the States.
It’s been forever since I’ve seen an Edward Norton movie. Back when Leo was actually the king of the A-list box office, mostly pulling off killer movies over this last decade.

There was this warmth to him and his whole world, which is why the new movie just didn't click for me. Plus, the amount of cheesiness and the lack of chemistry between the actors was just too much.👎
Give them some credit. That scene where Kevin Costner sacrifices himself to save the dog was actually pretty effortless. 🤣

It’d be pretty stupid if he had the same voice while in costume because then people could actually recognize him. Just imagine some villain he missed or someone he threw in jail recognizing him by his voice and telling everyone who Batman is. No thanks, why take that risk when he clearly wants to stay anonymous.
Personally, I’d love a fifty-fifty split. I dig the serious, grounded vibe you get in BB, TDK, and TDKR, but I also love the goofy, wild energy from Guardians. Though, if I had to pick right now, I'd lean more toward the realism side since we haven't seen enough of that in superhero movies lately. I also really like how they balanced Iron Man—it's serious and realistic but still throws in those funny moments. That mix is perfect for me.
So yeah, another vote for that. 😁
Look, Batman has to be Dark. The whole vibe has to be moody.
Most versions of Batman work fine for me, so I don't have an issue there.
What really bugs me is how they took Superman—who is just as huge a pop culture icon as Batman—and turned him into this cheap Batman knockoff.
Superman isn't a dark character. His scenes happen in the daylight, his colors are warmer, and his world is way more optimistic.
And I'm not about to let Nolan and his little sidekick Snyder try to reinvent the wheel. 😠
Look, we aren't exactly at the top of the food chain anymore, but honestly, bronze is a pretty solid result.
I just really hope handball and water polo don't end up following the same path as our basketball program. We went from being a legitimate powerhouse to being mediocre at best, and that would suck.
I didn't lose my cool too much after that blowout against France; honestly, they’re just three levels above us right now.
But this? You’re up by three, you've got a real shot at pushing it to four, and you haven't even trailed for twenty-five minutes—then the second they tie it up, everything just falls apart.🤦
Look, we used to pull stuff like that off back in our glory days.👎
The trailer looks solid. We might finally get Bebop & Rocksteady in the mix 👍 I’m just crossing my fingers that after the last one—which was basically just April O'Neil The Movie—we actually get the Turtles front and center this time. Looks like they're already getting plenty of screen time in the trailer though
Edward Price6 said:Have we actually sent someone to Mars yet? Nope. So, it's fiction. Nuf said.
It's the same deal with Gravity. That whole "Frogger" style jumping from station to station (among other things) just isn't happening like they show it, hence, fiction.
Guardians are basically just a comedic version of Riddick's Chronicles.
And honestly, 95% of this stuff is garbage, but if they make more Sci-Fi movies, they'll eventually make more good ones too. The Martian is finally one solid Hard Sci-Fi flick.
Don't spoil it for me, but what makes The Martian Hard Sci-Fi?
Based on the trailer, I thought it was going to be something like Gravity.
To me, Sci-Fi needs at least a few of these: -robots and AI -time travel -aliens -lasers -fast space travel and hopping between planets -future settings, whether it's post-apocalyptic or high-tech, etc.
