Does anyone know where I can actually get this test done? I’ve been getting sent on a total wild goose chase—they sent me from the Mayo Clinic to Petrov, then back to the Mayo Clinic from Petrov, and finally they just straight up told me they have no idea where to go to get it measured.
Keep it real: Honest feedback wanted in Psychology ·
Hannah White2 said:Why is it that people who just can't help themselves from sticking their noses where they don't belong—offering unsolicited critiques to anyone within earshot—always hide behind this "I'm just being brutally honest" or "telling it like it is" nonsense?

I don't get it—what's the problem?

For instance, we had some guests over today. Everything was going fine until my mother started messing around with the napkins, asking me what she should do with them. Honestly? I told her to just do whatever she wanted, because if I were sitting at a table like that, I'd automatically lose my appetite. I know, I know—that sounds harsh, and I didn't really want to say it, but in that moment, I was being completely sincere.

Or when someone asks me if I like something, I simply can't bring myself to say yes if I actually hate it.

It really bothers me how honesty is often misread as being mean or crazy, while hypocrisy is treated as something positive, desirable, and perfectly acceptable.

You mentioned that you don't mind mindless chatter as long as there’s actual substance behind it. But honestly, when someone is just babbling, it doesn't matter what they're saying—they're just making noise. When you're having a real conversation, though, it's all about listening and actually engaging with the ideas being exchanged. You really need both skills to hold your own. I find that most people struggle with both, so personally, I'd much rather talk to someone who at least understands the importance of meaningful dialogue.
I mean, I really don't see why you're getting so worked up about this.

Quincy:
Of course I'm interested
Why on earth wouldn't I care about all this chatter?
Quincy:
It's all just noise; the actual content doesn't really matter much
Quincy:
I get sucked into it too, I guess
But for me, it’s always been about the substance.
You're being a bit contradictory here.

Look, it isn't the "flow of conversation" that's bothering you—it's the fact that the loudest guy in the room is going to end up getting shut down🤣🤣.

Quincy:
I honestly don't follow any of this
🤣

Quincy:
It’s all just white noise to me
🤣

Quincy:
The whole thing is just driving me nuts
🤣 🤣🤣

Man, you really cracked me up 😁.

Would you actually be overanalyzing the flow of a conversation if the topic was actually interesting to you? I bet your own thoughts are way more engaging than someone else's rambling.

I have moments where I drift off while a "conversation is happening" too, but that usually only happens when I'm talking to people I can't actually connect with—people who can't hold my attention long enough to keep things going.
I honestly don't know if a person's core personality can truly change. If it does, I think it’s more about crystallizing the traits you were born with. But fundamentally altering your basic temperament? I really don't think that's possible. Besides, why would you even want to? Everyone has the potential to become their own kind of diamond just by being themselves.

For instance, I’ve always been an extreme introvert. There was a point where I actually convinced myself I wanted to be a total extrovert. So, I spent a while forcing myself to be social—trying to be the life of the party, joking around, and jumping from group to group. But man, it was absolutely exhausting. Eventually, I decided to just embrace my introversion again. I can't pretend to be some social butterfly when I feel like I weigh a hundred tons. At the end of the day, the people who truly care about me will love me for who I am, and if they don't, that's on them.
Honestly, it’s all just a total disaster. Nothing about this lineup is hitting the mark, and I’m still planning on going today just so I have plenty of material to complain about later. Pendulum was honestly such a letdown, and Billy’s set felt genuinely depressing 😕🤷 I’m kicking myself for missing Pendulum, but I don't regret being at Idol at all—that show was absolutely incredible.
Love as a fixed idea in Psychology ·
velvetbear11 said:Look, guys, stop constantley feeding on nothing but negativity.

That kind of love is honestly just super-funky, at least in my experience.

It was either a lifetime ago or just yesterday—time gets blurry—but I fell head over heels for this girl after we exchanged, what, maybe two words? I never saw her again. And whether that crush lasted for a fleeting moment or a long stretch, yeah, sure, you can call it idealizing someone if you want, but it didn't leave me with any bitter feelings. Quite the opposite, actually; it felt incredibly funky. I’d be floating to work, floating home, and even while sitting at my desk, I just loved being alive in this world. No matter what bullshit was going on, the mere thought of her gave me this funky little surge of energy, this lightness. I was genuinely happier than usual. And get this: even though she vanished from my life forever, somehow... it still counts as a happy love.

And here's the kicker: I found courage. I’ve never been braver. I was basically acting like some knight errant serving a princess, even if she had no clue I existed. It sounds cheesy, I know, but you know how incredible—how truly funky—that feeling is?

In fact, I finally tackled some issues that had been haunting me for years; it took a massive amount of guts to face them. And then, eventually, I moved on.

🤣🤣😍

Is permanent happiness actually possible? in Philosophy ·
Ronald Rogers27 said:Permanent happiness doesn't exist. What actually exists is peace... lasting peace. Very few people ever find it while they're alive, but everyone finds it eventually when they die.

Ronald Rogers27

That’s exactly it—it happens in death. I mean, while you're actually living your life, what good is constant peace? How can you even recognize what peace feels like if you don't have any restlessness to compare it to? Without the chaos, the stillness loses its meaning.
Seeking forgiveness in Psychology & Therapy ·
hollowtinker18 said:People, do you actually know how... or even if it's possible... to just forgive yourselves first?

*sighs deeply*😁😁

And "forgive, but don't forget"—honestly, I think that might be one of the most nonsensical things anyone has ever said. Maybe I’m just missing something, but it doesn't click for me.

If I still remember what happened and it still hurts, then how on earth can it be considered forgiven? If I remember it and it carries zero weight, then it clearly never mattered to begin with. And if it truly didn't matter, I probably wouldn't even be thinking about it.

I struggle to wrap my head around what forgiveness is even supposed to look like. Is it just saying, "You screwed me over, but whatever, I'm not going to let it get to me because I'm a bigger person"?

I don't know. Some people just don't deserve forgiveness. For me, instead of feeling forgiving, I just feel pure disgust. Usually, I just walk away, and if I'm lucky, those feelings eventually fade with time.
Do people still call FOX "Channel 3"? in Miscellaneous ·
Haha 🤣, I was stuck scrolling through channels too. But I had to go double-check 😁
And the third channel was just the third channel. If I remember right, they were showing sports.
500 Days of Summer (2009) in Movies ·
Honestly, a pretty solid little movie. 🙂
It had some really Good Music, and I actually found myself laughing out loud a few times—especially during that part where she’s just standing there on the street in her bathrobe, yelling "get a room" at people and stuff. 😍
What does this "vulgar" word mean? in Miscellaneous ·
boldjackal10 said:Man, what a way with words. That’s such a heavy term. It could basically mean anything from zero to a hundred.

🤣🤣 This is enough to drive you crazy 😁

When people say a woman is "done up," they usually just mean she looks put together.

It's not necessarily that she looks stunning or anything, just that she's wearing the full works—you know, that standard "glammed up" look.🤔 I don't know,
There’s just nothing worse than people who are constantly trying to play games or manipulate situations. Look, if you want to be dishonest, that’s your own personal issue, but don't you dare assume I'm going to sit here and swallow whatever nonsense you're feeding me. Seriously, please, try a little harder next time—come up with a story that actually sounds plausible. Are you really that dense that you think I'll fall for that, or do you honestly just think I'm that gullible?

What really gets under my skin is how relaxed they are about it all. They lie with this total sense of ease, acting like it's no big deal at all. They can look you straight in the eye without even a hint of hesitation or guilt, making it feel like there's absolutely no reason to doubt them. It's unsettling.

And don't even get me started on people who mock others. I truly cannot wrap my head around the impulse to belittle someone else. Where do you get off thinking you have the right to make fun of people? Honestly, it's just pathetic, and it makes me lose all respect for them.
People who kill bugs (and I mean harmless little ones).
A bug? Just smash it under your shoe!! 🤷

I get it—maybe someone doesn't feel like bending over to pick up a bug, or they can't stomach the idea of grabbing one with a tissue to carry it outside. But if you just crush it, you end up having to do the exact same thing anyway, except now you're dealing with a messy smear on the floor instead. It makes no sense to me.
Please tell me, does anyone know if those are still around? It’s been forever since I last saw them. I’m talking about those little candy packs and the tiny figurines used to fill them up—you know, the ones with Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck... I can't quite remember all the characters they had back then.
Dealing with resentment toward my parents in Psychology ·
Next time someone asks you about their car, just give them a straight answer: "They don't own one; they're committed to being eco-friendly." ☕ 😁😁

If this is really stressing you out, honestly, you’re being a bit of an idiot.

And regarding everything else—all this talk about people having "perfect" parents... 😂
I mean, I'll grant you there are exceptions, but I personally don't know a single soul who doesn't have at least a few grievances with their folks, nor do I know anyone who would actually want to turn out exactly like them.

So, instead of getting all worked up because they don't have a car, maybe try focusing on their actual character? I'm sure they have plenty of great qualities, and it's probably not the end of the world that they prefer riding bikes.
