Honestly, you're being completely unreasonable—complaining about shedding, allergies, and all that other nonsense... You have to get out and move, which means daily walks. And heaven forbid you actually sit down to enjoy a cup of coffee!!!! Blah blah blah...
I'm giving the dog away... But you better be ready to hand him back in a few years once the kid is grown up.😁

Oh, absolutely, yes, please!!!! I am just dying to read comments like this one. Especially since we live with two dogs, one of which is a Staffy... I guess our kid is just going to be assassinated the second we pull into the driveway. Honestly, I’m surprised we’ve even survived this long.🙄🙄

Oh sure, you're definitely pregnant. I mean, you're taking those pills religiously, but it was clearly your fertile window... so you must be some kind of miracle worker.☕

How exactly does it *not* match up? From December 5th to January 23rd... that's 7 weeks... or 6 and a half, whatever. It's basically the same thing.

Honestly, I have no idea why I even bother replying to this kind of nonsense. ☕
Dennis Adams said:I don't even know what my deal is, honestly... I'm just not an animal person, even if I think having a kid is the best thing ever (not in some weird way, obviously). My favorite thing to see is when some high-maintenance girl walks into a Starbucks, looking totally flawless, hair perfect, outfit on point, and then she just starts slobbering all over her dog 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮. Seriously, I can't even look. That whole scene just leaves me scarred. If I lived out in rural Montana or something, sure, I’d get a dog or a cat because they kind of feel like part of the scenery out there, but living in an apartment? No way in hell. And this idea that if you don't like animals, you must hate people? That’s just plain stupid. I’ve seen plenty of examples in my own life that prove otherwise, and there’s even stuff from history—like that famous vegetarian guy back in the 1940s over in Europe who loved his dog more than any actual human being 😉.

Trust me, she wouldn't give you the time of day either 👍
neongardener2 said:I’m also cool with people not liking animals, provided they respect them and leave them alone. But what bugs me—and honestly, it happens way too often here in the States—is when people own pets but don't actually take care of them. Like, they just leave them tied up or stuck in a crate constantly without any attention or love, besides maybe some food. If you're just going to ignore them, why even have them? 🙂 Plus, the laws aren't exactly on the side of these animals as long as they're vaccinated and have a place to stay. I see it happen all the time around here, and unfortunately, there's not much you can do about it.😢

edit: One more thing for you, hope you catch this... I noticed you're a vegetarian and an animal lover too. How do you feel about not eating meat while your pets (I assume) definitely do?

I agree with your whole post.
As for the question... yeah, they eat meat. It feels wrong to me to dictate their diet based on my own personal standards just because I have the ability to do so. That would feel like I was just venting my frustrations at meat-eaters by forcing my dogs to be vegetarians simply because I have "power" over them.😁
I don't judge meat-eaters or lecture them; I think everyone knows best how to follow their own conscience.
Sarah Garcia84 said:Honestly, I find the idea of keeping animals in an apartment completely unthinkable. Animals deserve a massive backyard or some kind of outdoor space—a proper shelter, their own little house, and dedicated spots for food and water. That’s just how it should be...
It honestly makes my skin crawl when people walk their dogs and don't bother picking up after them, leaving someone else to step in it. Or when they stroll down a main sidewalk and then sit down for ice cream or pizza while their dog is scratching and drooling just a few feet away; it all feels so unhygienic... not to mention those who kiss a dog on the snout and then immediately go kissing their child.🙄 At the end of the day, a human is a human, and a dog is an animal! I truly believe a dog can't be a person's friend; a true friend can only ever be another human!

I wanted to bold certain parts, but I couldn't decide which ones since the whole post deserves it.🙄
The sheer bitterness in your tone actually makes me feel a little sorry for you.
I'm not going to get into a huge argument, but I'll just say this: one of my two dogs was an abandoned stray. People were literally searching the neighborhood for him because neighbors called saying they saw him, and he would have been put down at the local shelter after 60 days. And here I am, such a heartless bitch that I decided to adopt him into my apartment... and now the poor thing is stuck in an apartment, oh the tragedy! 🙂, surely God will punish me for having the audacity to save a dog from certain death. 🤣

You are the textbook definition of what we were talking about—an animal hater. Because based on your post, you clearly aren't indifferent at all. Take care. 👋
Look, I’m a huge animal lover. I’ve got two dogs living in my apartment, I’ve been a vegetarian for 13 years, and I spend my free time volunteering at the local animal shelter... But is it okay if someone just doesn't care for animals? Yeah, absolutely.
I think those weird judgments people make (referring back to the OP's first post) come from this mindset where, the moment someone says they aren't an animal person, everyone immediately jumps to conclusions about them being abusive or just totally cold-hearted.

If someone doesn't want a pet in their house and feels indifferent toward them, so what? Nothing. It's fine.

A lot of people also can't wrap their heads around the fact that, at 32 years old, I don't feel any particular emotional connection to children. Does that make me "weird"? I don't know, and honestly, I don't really care.

Personally, I don't think it's strange when people don't love animals, as long as they aren't hurting them—but obviously, that's a different conversation entirely.

Ladies on birth control, would you mind sharing the current prices of the pills you’re taking or have used? If possible, maybe the mod could compile them into a single post titled something like "Contraceptive Pill Prices"?
I think it would help everyone out. This info is surprisingly hard to find online, and what little you do find is usually outdated. It feels kind of silly having to walk into a CVS just to ask for a price list. 😍
So far, here's what I know:
Logest - $26
Triquilar - $20

I heard Trinovum is $5.00—can anyone currently on it confirm that?
Also, we probably need prices for Yasmin, Yaz, Cilest, and whatever else is available here in the States (if there are others I'm forgetting)?
I heard Diane 35 is covered by insurance for minors, but adults have to pay out of pocket $50; apparently, you get a pack of three "tabs" of pills. Is that right? They're a bit of a special case since they're mainly for treating hormonal issues.

Yeah, I can confirm that.😁

Well, damn... if I'd known you liked the first response that much, I wouldn't have hit delete.🤣

crimsongull20 said:Where on earth did you get the idea that you and I are supposed to think and feel exactly the same way... 😕

I just think that, generally speaking, people are better off when others don't mess with their privacy. But if you don't mind... fine. Then you clearly don't have that issue...

Not that any neighbor, old lady, colleague, or even my own mother ever bothered asking... I guess they know me well enough to be intimidated...

👍People tell me all the time that they're actually afraid of me...🤣🙂
and honestly, I take that as a huge compliment.🥳
Though, it is pretty hilarious to me that women who are barely 5'4" and 105 lbs are supposedly "scared" of me.😁

amberfox4 said:I find myself feeling poorly primarily because I am far too polite, and I simply haven't mastered the art of telling people that their business is none of their own and that their inquiries are quite uncouth.
It leaves me feeling frustrated with my own temperament, almost as if I've been foolish.
And this isn't limited to this specific subject; it happens whenever someone becomes overly inquisitive and oversteps a boundary, and I fail to react appropriately because I am terrified of appearing rude.

Just call them out on it. There is zero reason to be nice to people like that. Just look at how they act...

feralcobra92 said:Honestly, I really don't think you owe anyone an explanation or any kind of sympathy, and frankly, what the neighbors or your extended family thinks shouldn't matter one bit! It feels so much less exhausting and way less stressful to just say you can't have kids rather than admitting you simply don't want them. I wouldn't even call that lying in the traditional sense; it's more like just gracefully steering clear of a conversation you have no interest in having. People who push those kinds of intrusive questions haven't earned the right to an honest answer, especially since being totally blunt would likely just trigger their outrage and leave everyone feeling miserable anyway.

Look, just get it through your head: it’s my absolute right to say, loud and clear, that I DON'T WANT them. And that’s exactly what I’m doing. I really couldn't care less about judging people who are operating on a level of mental deficiency that's frankly hard to wrap my head around.

I honestly don't even know how to respond to that last sentence.🤷 Should I actually consider their anger to be my own personal problem?🤔 Should I just tell my boyfriend to knock me up already so we can stop dealing with everyone else's unsolicited opinions?🤔

feralcobra92 said:I honestly think everyone needs to realize that questions like these are just a mix of nosy curiosity, a total lack of manners, and that annoying urge people get to poke at things when they see life isn't following some perfect script, not to mention just plain old rudeness.
It has never even crossed my mind to grill someone about whether they go to church, what their religion is, or why they don't have kids—or why they have eight of them (like one acquaintance of mine who has a huge family but zero romantic life, which is just tragic to me). Even though I make sure to stay discreet with those kinds of topics, I am perfectly capable of having deep, serious, and totally uninhibited conversations about anything from abortion and sex to death, faith, and all those other supposedly "taboo" subjects.
In my opinion, the mere fact that a woman hasn't tied the knot or decided she doesn't want children is enough to trigger a mountain of these intrusive questions. You really shouldn't let it get to you or feel like you have to snap back aggressively. If I were in that position, I’d probably just tell them I want kids but can't have them, because that seems like such a convenient way to shut the conversation down! Instead of getting anger or disgust from them, you'll just get sympathy and maybe some unsolicited advice about herbal teas, compresses, steam treatments, or vitamins...

🙄
Why on earth would anyone lie about something like that? And besides, who actually wants pity?☕

Christian Sanchez4 said:Look, once people stop rolling their eyes at me, spitting on the floor, and interrogating me with a million questions about why I don't feel some "maternal instinct," then maybe I'll bother being polite and just give a brief, civil response like, "I don't have kids because I don't want to be a parent."
I simply don't care for the idea of parenthood. Kids irritate me; they're exhausting. That doesn't mean I mistreat them or harbor any malice. I'd never hurt one, and if a child were hungry or cold, I would step up and provide for them without hesitation. But I just don't want children in my life. Their existence doesn't fascinate me. I don't see how that should bother anyone else. I'm not hurting a soul, unless you count the offense of being labeled "unstable" just because I don't share the collective obsession with procreation.

feralcobra92 said:Where on earth in my posts does it say that I don't care about animals or that I believe in human sanctity ? I absolutely adore animals, which is exactly why my cats and my dog are constantly roaming around my apartment! I love kids too, so naturally, there are children running around my place all the time, and since I work directly with them, there are little ones buzzing around me at the office every single day.
Even though I'm an animal lover, I don't go walking around with these silly illusions about their "purity" or how "innocent" they are. I love people—for the most part, anyway—and I don't hold any delusions about their innocence or holiness either.
It’s certainly not my opinion that everyone is obligated to have children, and honestly, I’d even prefer if some people who currently have them hadn't, simply because of the way they treat them.
The thing that actually bothers me—and the reason I commented in the first place—is that angry, aggressive attitude toward children that just radiates from your posts, and frankly, the absolute worst part is when you compare kids to pets.
Society is constantly breathing down your necks, pressuring you to get married, have babies, and play the part of the perfect wife and mother, but seriously, so what?
If you don't want to do it, then don't listen to them and just move on! You're still young and you have plenty of time to change your mind later on if you ever feel like it.
