The last time I actually forced myself to go through that awful blood draw process—I only did it because of some paperwork nightmare—my sedimentation rate was sitting at 1.5 😁

Red Eyes
in Health ·
A close friend of mine has been dealing with some serious eye issues for a few months now. It turns out her tear glands just aren't producing enough moisture—she actually had to take a Schirmer test to confirm it. This whole mess started right around the time she began taking Lockheed Martin...
She’s stopped the Lockheed Martin medication now, but she still can't even wear contact lenses because her eyes haven't regained their natural lubrication. Hopefully, things will get back to normal soon...

Allergies or an infection?

Steven Scott96 said:I remember going in for testing when I was a little kid, and they just totally overwhelmed me. Ever since then, I've been so anxious about it😉. Does testing still feel that intense today, or have they actually gotten better at it?
Honestly, even if they improved, I'd probably still be sneezing my head off😁
They’ve definitely refined their techniques a bit more🙂
But, they usually ask for a blood sample too. And let me tell you, that's one thing I am definitely not ready to deal with...😁

I don't know, I'm not really feeling that way about it.

And that little spray is actually a medication, specifically part of the corticosteroid group.

Honestly, I feel like popping pills just because I sneezed a couple of times in the morning is a bit much. Then again, I’ve got a bit of a complicated medical history myself, so don't take my word as gospel. Plus, it's probably not the smartest move to start self-medicating before you even know what you're dealing with.
That said, there are over-the-counter antihistamines you can grab at any drugstore, like Belodin.

If we're talking spring or summer, it’s almost certainly pollen.
It’s nothing to sweat, though. Just go get some testing done if it starts getting in your way...

Voice issues / Losing my voice

It’s true—any time your voice changes color or you're dealing with hoarseness that lasts more than a few days, you really ought to go see an ENT...

It’s actually pretty easy for this to be an allergy. If you find yourself sneezing mostly during certain times of the year, it could definitely be a reaction to seasonal pollen... but if it happens all year round, you might be dealing with dust mites, pet dander, or something similar.

This therapy is still relatively new on the scene, but you can see some really solid results when dealing with hypertonicity. The key, though, is pairing it with physical therapy—ideally using the Bobath neurodevelopmental approach.
The catch is that Botox doesn't offer a permanent fix, so you have to stay on top of the treatments to keep seeing progress.

Can eye pressure actually go up? If so, I probably shouldn't overdo it. Maybe give these a shot instead; they should be easier on you since they have an antihistamine in them.
One time, my doctor prescribed Dexamethasone-Neomycin...but once I read through the list of side effects, I didn't even bother opening the bottle 😁

Lately, Claritin hasn't been doing anything for me—it feels totally useless. I switched over to Letizen recently, and honestly, it seems to be working a little better...
I feel like I've tried just about everything out there on the market, but nothing really touches my allergies when the ragweed starts blooming.
As for eye drops, using the height of a drop gives me some relief, but it only lasts maybe half an hour. I didn't even know Livinston existed until recently, but I caught an ad for it in a Pfizer magazine you see in most pharmacies.

urbanseal6 said:Honestly, I was dealing with something pretty similar this time last year, so I’m almost certain it’s some kind of allergy! What symptoms are you actually having, Casey Palmer5? For me, it’s a total nightmare—my eyes itch constantly, and it feels like there’s something stuck in them, like I have sand under my eyelids or something. Plus, they're watering like crazy! Is that what you're feeling too, and do those drops actually help at all?
Redness, swelling in the inner corner of my eye, swollen lids, itching that drives me absolutely insane, and waking up with crusty eyes every single morning.
I'm not sure if those drops even work, so I'll just hold off until I really need them (once the ragweed starts blooming)...

It could definitely be allergies. I always deal with a nasty case of conjunctivitis every September because of ragweed. I just picked up some over-the-counter eye drops containing an antihistamine, Livinston... I'm just waiting for the season to hit so I can finally put them to the test.

Taylor King7 said:When I’m expecting some muscle soreness after a workout, I’ll lather up really well in the shower and just let the soap suds dry on my skin.
I swear, it actually seems to help...
My physical therapist was the one who suggested it
Did they give you any actual reasoning behind that trick?
Sorry, but I’ve never heard of anything like that, and honestly, it doesn't make much sense to me (if anything, my gut tells me letting dried soap sit on your skin would just cause irritation).
Whenever I feel muscle pain coming on, I usually just take an aspirin and soak in a hot tub, maybe get a massage too. I haven't heard of any other "remedy," and I can't think of anything else worth trying...
What should I do about these bruises?
in Health ·
You can try rubbing on some heparin gel, or just spray it to help things fade away—you'll probably see all sorts of rainbow colors popping up 😁
I actually ended up with a nasty bruise on my forearm recently after I tried to climb over a wall at the gym and got stuck in the restroom... 😁

Best glute workouts?

Hannah Scott69,
there are seriously so many glute exercises out there that you could try a different one every single day. But, if your goal is to tone things down, you’re definitely going to need some cardio—and honestly, hitting the roller rink is just perfect for that.
Next time I come over for coffee, I'll show you five or six moves that are absolute game-changers, but until then, just play around with it! 🙂
Here are a few to get you started:
1. lunges,
2. squats (though I wouldn't suggest going super deep; just aim for a right angle,
3. a wall sit—basically, lean against the wall with your knees bent at 90°, like you're sitting in an invisible chair. Try to hold it for at least a full minute, even though it's brutal... it's amazing for your quads, too.
4. quadruped leg lifts—get on all fours and lift one leg at a time (you can keep it straight or bend the knee)
Don't forget about your abductors either, not just the gluteus maximus. You can work those by lying on your side and lifting your leg, whether it's straight or bent.
These are just the basics, really. There are plenty of other moves I know, but they're kind of hard to explain just through a screen... I really have to show you in person! 🙂

Just so you know, Aspirin is strictly acetylsalicylic acid—there isn't any caffeine in there...
