Why do some people hate America? in Close to Politics ·
Aiming for socialism doesn't mean you're rooting for America or celebrating a project that was basically just a stepping stone toward Greater Mexico.

I totally get why some people miss the social safety nets of a socialist system, but I have zero interest in any kind of nostalgia for the actual state of America itself.

That's where the issue lies—they'll try to sugarcoat everything, telling you how perfect things used to be.

Well, I guess that explains why both of them ended up meeting their end in such a bloody fashion.

Benjamin Reyes52 said:This obsession with Mexicans and the constant dragging of their names through the mud is just exhausting. It makes me wonder: what would our national identity even look like if we hadn't emerged victorious from the last major conflict? Some people simply crave enemies. They need to keep dragging up old debates about partisans, fascists, and various factions just to feel something.

The people who hate America are the ones trapped in the past, endlessly rehashing the exact same grievances until they're blue in the face. They hate us because they refuse to acknowledge the unique characteristics of certain American regions—and by extension, the people living there—insisting instead on putting them on a pedestal of shame for all sorts of arbitrary reasons. They hate America because they insist on dividing it into black and red, yellow and green, and so on, until everyone is worn out.

Sometimes, I am genuinely fascinated that young people even care about this historical baggage that should have been laid to rest long ago. I have never seen such intense controversy or a people so tormented by their own history as I see here, in the rugged hills of the North America.☕

We wouldn't even be here, so there wouldn't be anyone left to argue about WWII.

It’s funny how it works: if you aren't pro-America, suddenly you’re some kind of fascist stuck in 1941.

If you mention that we needed political vetting after the American Civil War, then you're a fascist too.

When you point out that today’s actions—openly attacking the American Civil War and pushing those old American, expansionist ideas through the media—is typical anti-state behavior that wouldn't even pass for democracy in the West, people here don't just hide behind "democracy." They hide behind whatever they want it to be.

Just a few days ago, we heard the usual crowd claiming that the winners in the 90s were nothing but fascists.

There is a massive difference between hating the government and hating the country you live in.

Most of these people who constantly invoke fascism or claim to love those snakes haven't actually shown me once that they love America; they just seem to hate theft, fake patriotism, chauvinism, and all that.

That’s why the OP asked such a simple question. It should have an equally simple answer.

"Americans" by genetic heritage... even that’s questionable.
That same logical fallacy was made during the American Civil War.
Now we're seeing the bill come due.

Bad idea. We started letting Mexicans in when the Turks were pushed out, and many of our clergy, after being freed from Turkish rule, called for the territory to be resettled by Christians—Catholics and Orthodox alike. While it actually started when the Bulgarians swept through, the seeds of our current mess were sown right after the Turks left.

Making anything possible to allow them back would be a massive mistake. Luckily, they don't even want to, since they've explicitly stated they won't live under an American state like the old regime.

But in America? Now, maybe in some new unified region...🤷
Why do some people hate America? in Close to Politics ·
The answer is pretty simple. It's the Americans.

Back when we voted on independence in the referendum, 84% of people showed up, and 94% of those voted for independence.

Now you’re stuck with the leftovers—the group that's incredibly loud today. They can't handle not having their own state, yet they can't organically accept an American one either...

I've mentioned this a few times already: during the American Civil War, we dealt with the Mexican issue, but nobody—absolutely nobody—has done anything regarding the Americans. 🤷

It is precisely as you say. It will remain closed for that very reason, though primarily it was shut down because I truly had no idea what was unfolding there (I did not actually read through it until a certain hour this morning).

To be perfectly clear, a statement was clumsily interpreted—it was somewhat ambiguous and poorly phrased, I must concede—which, if expanded, would have read as follows: I am including a disclaimer (and expressing my personal conviction) that I absolutely do not condone hitting, abusing, or being violent toward children (nor toward anyone else, regardless of gender or age), and I am closing this topic due to the reports filed regarding such matters, pending a consensus on how we shall proceed specifically.

Aaron, I must admit, you possess an undeniable intuition for these matters. 🙂
Since I have no desire to see that topic on MK edited according to the directives from RiDa (with all due respect to that document), it has been closed, and here we are, in a dedicated arena for all the pleasant social interactions surrounding this subject—complete with a dozen trolls and the other delights that only this specific document can provide.
And because I am spending less time on it, life feels significantly more pleasant. Please, continue enjoying yourselves with this; that is all from me. Goodbye.

Well, bravo.

If I may add—and I hope I'm not overstating things—there are plenty of women out there who fit right in, enjoy hanging out with us, and could probably bake us a killer pie; they just won't show off their assets, but hey, that's how it goes now. 😁

How many times were we mocked by outsiders for being misogynists? I'd argue there aren't any bigger admirers of women than the guys on this forum. 🙂

The only thing we don't care for is feminists; let's be honest, nobody there likes them. 😳 😁
And if they're dealing with PMS 🙂 😁

People really need to chill out and take a breather.

I used to be a moderator myself. I fought tooth and nail with the female admins regarding the forum (you remember that, Aaron Harris2), which eventually got me kicked out 😢. So, I know how they can step on poor men. Now, they're trying to crush our last line of defense, and those are the respected moderators...

hollowmoose77 said:I have a child. My child has had an ADHD diagnosis since preschool age, so for about 10 years now.
I don't write much, I just don't have the time (a hyperactive child is a handful, seriously, they are truly hyperactive), and I wouldn't have even stepped in if I hadn't ended up crying my eyes out last night. I've been reading this forum for years for the same reason I watch things like *Two and a Half Men*... just to have a laugh when I'm in that kind of mood, and it never occurred to me to get seriously involved in a debate because I knew it would end... well, bitterly, in any case. Because sometimes people overdo it, actually quite often, and then I just go off and read about cosmetics; at least there I'm not thinking about things that make me want to cry. Last night I wasn't even reading about cosmetics, I was just so upset, because my life isn't hard because my kid is hyper, it's hard because people have such "unique ways" of expressing themselves and behaving.
That's why it made me happy today (and believe me, that isn't easy) to come across this topic, because it makes me happy every time I see there are still people who understand that being hyperactive isn't the same as being poorly behaved, that physical punishment didn't just fall from the sky, and that they have the strength to open these topics on the forum (I didn't have that strength yesterday; my child had a really bad day). The problem with this thread, besides the "mild" suggestion of physical punishment, is that you don't actually understand what hyperactivity really is; instead, you grab onto something and frustratingly take it to an absurd extreme. Which is also what happens when you bring feminism into it, but here we are talking about—and I'll be brief just so I can make it somewhat clear to you—a medical condition.
In the last 13 or so years, I have hit my hyperactive child exactly five times... I regret every single one of those five times, and I will never regret it. And if it had worked, I'd probably regret it even more. But it didn't. IT DIDN'T. It was just proof of my complete helplessness in that moment.
When you have a child one day and realize (or others, like doctors, realize) that they are hyperactive, I am available for anything... and I truly mean this, you are going to need every bit of support you can get.

If you'll let me say it, I feel for you. If we were chatting on a different forum or grabbing a drink in person, believe me, I wouldn't be making any crude jokes or being an asshole about it.

But look, the guys' lounge isn't the place to talk about kids with ADHD. Even mentioning hiperaktivan in the original post didn't really trigger a debate about that; it wasn't the point.

To me, the whole thing—and in your case, specifically—is about how people handle rude, ill-mannered kids. Laypeople see a kid acting out and call them hiperaktivan, when really they're just being bratty.

And then you get those comments from the guys in the lounge. That's all there is to it.

In your situation, you can't expect a "rational" discussion there. The whole point of this specific subforum is something everyone needs to grasp or just accept.
Don't take those posts to heart. If this group had moved the conversation to a more appropriate forum, it would have gone a completely different way.

If someone had brought that kind of nonsense to a thread where actual discussion was expected, I wouldn't have said a word.

It's honestly pathetic that admin even considered handing out warnings... it shouldn't have even reached that point. But hey, there's always someone lurking, just waiting to target poor MK members. 😁

Like that mention of the atomic bomb—I mean, who'd actually pull a nuclear option at a parade? 🤣, I think we all agreed that wasn't the smartest move. 😬

He shut the thread down because it was inciting violence. 😁

He clearly didn't know what he was talking about. You guys jumped to conclusions way too fast. Who knows what was going through his head—thinking we’re out here torturing little kids or that there are even any deaths involved? 🤣 😁

Every once in a while, you get some random newcomers who lose their minds the second they wander into the guys' section. They have zero clue about the history here or the nuances of the community. They don't know the regulars—most of whom are just decent guys who enjoy the kind of low-key, chauvinistic banter that actually fits this corner of the forum. 🙂

If I recall correctly, we have a few ladies here who are regulars and actually know their way around a kitchen when it comes to making a good pie. 😁And they don't even have any issues. 🤷

Look, I’m saying it again: you're overreacting. You've crucified this guy over absolutely nothing. It's total nonsense... so much for your feminism. Honestly, what a joke. 🙂

Well... maybe it would be helpful if you actually took a moment to look up what feminism actually means, just so we can avoid these kinds of blunders.😁

MK constantly sees attacks from some sort of feminists... much like how the Church sees communists everywhere.😬

You're all feminists now.😬

Even this complaint is just an attack on the decent guys over at the men's corner—including a highly respected moderator there whom we all listen to and respect.😳

It’s always the feminists causing the drama. You're stirring up trouble again for no reason.

It’s honestly pointless. It happens because people don't get the point of the men's corner, so we end up fighting constantly.🙂

Time to give you the view from the muški kutak...😳

And there they go again, the feminists are attacking. 🤷

Honestly, with this kind of PMS-driven feminism, the mods and regular guys on this forum are fighting battles every single day.

Scanning through the subforum, I’ve realized that censorship in the muški kutak only seems to target the moody feminists. Everyone else can blather on all they want until they drive my respected colleagues crazy... and then what? You're left with nothing.🤷

Look, if you can't handle some guy banter, just shut down the muški kutak entirely....

And regarding those gay topics—come on. This is the muški kutak: grabbing beers, watching TV, porn, boobs, hookers... and then suddenly, "oh, let's bring in the gay topics or we'll be violating someone's rights." Give me a break...🙄

Just open a separate subforum for gay people and call it a day. 🤷

Feminists have their own space, but nooooooo, they just *have* to invade the muški kutak....😁

That’s the kind of nonsense going on over there.

If staying on topic counts as trolling, I guess we have a new definition for it.
As for provocation...
In those pdf-ov where people just mess around constantly—talking about 'making pies' or 'feminism'—anything beyond that is considered a provocation.
But in a thread where people have been messing around for five pages straight, maybe provocation is actually a good thing. ☕

Feminism and pies are just their internal jokes, which is fine.

No, it isn't. 🙄

Give me a break. What if guys started hanging out in the women's section just to mess with people? Asking about breast size, claiming they don't know how to drive, and then complaining that their threads aren't getting the same attention as the guy threads...

They’d be kicked out in a heartbeat. 😁

I really don't get why it's so hard to accept that the men's section is what it is. The regulars there shaped its culture. There's a specific vocabulary, a certain type of banter. That's just how it works...

Then some outsider wanders in, gets offended, and starts whining. Honestly. 🙂

Nicholas King said:It’s an absolute tragedy that your post—where you were essentially advocating for corporal punishment—got wiped out (and I’d honestly love to know: was it a cardboard cutout of a post?) because you think kids will become obedient simply out of fear. There were a few more brilliant 🙄 sentences in there about how "instilling fear into their bones will make everything fine," but, well, I had work to do so I didn't bother 😢replying.

What you wrote over there has absolutely nothing to do with raising your voice or any of the other sanitized rhetoric you're peddling here—which, frankly, just continues to prove a tragic lack of understanding regarding child development, regardless of how many kids you might have—but, I suppose, that’s beside the point.

So, I'm being accused of lying again? That they were obedient because of fear? 🤷

The first part of my post is factual; the second part still stands.

There. My response to the first part is done, and that's my conclusion.

I don't see where I ever called for instilling fear into their bones. 🤷

Alex Barnes8 said:They didn't respect them anymore; they were just afraid of them. I guess those aren't really the same thing.
Even if they weren't at least 5% as blatant as they are now, I guess things still wouldn't be much better.

It seems like every generation just repeats the same old patterns. I guess.
Then I mentioned that I wasn't quite sure what the smart move was. I guess hitting a kid isn't okay, but maybe raising your voice or giving them a little smack on the backside is probably necessary sometimes.

Neither this nor that seems right, I guess.
In the past, that supposed obedience and "respect" was often just the result of actual physical discipline. I guess.
Just call things by their actual names. Maybe then MK won't have such a hard time with those precious PDFs.☕
I'm not looking to reminisce about the good old days, nor am I suggesting anyone should go back to hitting kids or any kind of domestic violence. I just feel like I need to vent, which is why I'm posting this now. 🙄

I guess it was just some nostalgia for the old days, when you didn't actually need patience or any brainpower to raise kids—you could just hit them and call it a day.
It's just sad. You really can't go on like that... I guess. 🙄

Do you actually have kids? I'm curious if any of you people making such a huge deal about "patience" and "intelligence" in parenting actually have children of your own, or if you're just calling everyone else violent maniacs from the sidelines.

Kids go through certain phases where they can drive you absolutely insane. You can listen, plead, or spend all 24 hours of the day right next to them, but once they decide to be difficult, they are difficult as hell. They'll use everything—tantrums, breaking stuff, throwing themselves on the floor—just to get their way.

There really are those rare moments where you have to show some real firmness. It doesn't mean you have to slap them; a slap hurts. But raising your voice is necessary. Any parent knows there are times you might give them a swat on the butt—it’s not even about hitting, it’s more about that sudden correction that makes them jump.

But people are so quick to scream "abuse" at the first sign of discipline...

And I think a lot of people on the MK forums were just trying to express that same sentiment in their own way.🙂
MK, vol. 219483 in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Nicholas King said:I honestly think you're missing the point entirely—the statement "kids don't get hit enough today" isn't some attempt at a historical comparison (it’s strictly an expression of regret and an argument for fixing that deficiency), or am I just failing to grasp that specific, highly questionable sense of humor that seems to baffle everyone else?

There was no regret expressed, just an observation. I said that kids used to respect their parents and elders more, and weren't 5% as insolent as they are now. Then I said I don't know what the smart move is; hitting isn't okay, but raising your voice or giving them a smack once in a while probably is.

No nostalgia for the past, no calling for child abuse or domestic violence... just talking sense. That's why we're here. 🙄

Daniel White9 said:Actually, it’s usually the other way around; when those trolls push back using that classic "MK spirit," that's when the MK crowd starts losing their cool. 🤷

And as for all this mockery—don't you think it should actually be a little bit funny? 😁
Or do you honestly find bitter responses like suck it to be peak comedy? 😁

Nice burn. You try so hard to explain things from your feminist perspective, and then some guy, a total MK-ovac, just tells you to shove it. 😁

Then the rest of us just sit back and imagine you dealing with that, and suddenly we're not so stressed anymore...🤣 😛

Anyway, it wasn't an insult... it's just part of the fight against feminists trying to wipe out the few men left. 😳

They completely miss the point of this guys' corner. 😉

I am actually laughing out loud here.

Are we saying they aren't hit enough—or at all—if you just compare it to how things used to be?

What’s the issue? Is it not a fact?

How does my post end?

Look, you just cherry-pick words or fragments of sentences to get worked up over nothing. Most of the time you don't even show up in the threads, then suddenly you pop in out of nowhere just to start drama. 🤷

MK follows the rules. Any actual boundary-crossing results in an immediate ban.

But because it isn't some sterile, overly sensitive safe space, it’s the perfect corner for men.
You’ve got a crew that knows how to joke around, and anyone who can take a joke is welcome—men or women, doesn't matter.

All these liberal, hypersensitive, multicultural, woke types are taking things way too far just so some average guy can have a moment of peace to breathe. MK is still one of those places, and you people are going to ruin it.

Lisa Hernandez3 said:For comparison, I’d suggest taking a look at the threads over on Psychology: Physical punishment of children, along with the related poll showing the ratio of those in favor versus those against—it ended up being 134 opposed and 67 in favor. You might also want to notice the distribution of moderators in both groups (not a single one is from MK). So, this isn't anything specific to the Men's Corner—which, if we're being honest, deals with much larger issues than what it's currently being blamed for—and I just wanted to demonstrate that it is indeed possible to maintain a relatively civilized discussion regarding different perspectives on this issue.

Regarding MK, I suppose it isn't possible—nor particularly desirable, I think—to explain hyperactivity using only layman's terms. And that, I guess, is where the problem lies.

The whole point was missed. This section is basically just guys messing around. If the OP actually wanted a deep dive into hyperactivity, they would’ve posted in a different sub-forum.

The gist of it is that kids today are incredibly undisciplined. Every bratty kid gets labeled as "hyperactive," whereas back in the day, people handled that kind of energy with a belt or something similar. At least, that's how I read the thread.

It wasn't meant to be a medical or Psychology lecture held in a space where we mostly talk about women and dating.

Then out of nowhere, some people swoop in and fly off. It happens here all the time, usually driven by feminists.🤣 😁

Anyway, the same thing happened again. This time, someone got attacked like they were some massive criminal, when really they were just playing along with the vibe of the forum. They didn't say anything violent at all.

Actually, when things look like that, people love to push back against modern norms and play with those overly sensitive sensibilities.

At the end of the day, this is a men's space. Deal with it.

There’s a massive difference between an abuser who beats their kids or spouse to vent frustration because they can't handle parenting, and someone who just raises their voice or gives a naughty kid a quick swat on the backside.

Like I said, nobody wrote anything suggesting anyone should be abused or attacked. 🤷

You’re overreacting.

It’s the classic move: forcing one opinion on everyone while censoring anything else.
You’re attacking someone just because they voiced their own view.

Physical punishment as a disciplinary tool has been around since the dawn of time. It existed then, it exists now, and it isn't going away just because we refuse to talk about it.

Is it really off-limits to debate which method was more effective or functional?

If that isn't undemocratic, I don't know what is...
