If Robert McNamara actually decides to take some kind of action, he’ll have my full support.
And honestly, when I see an article in the Los Angeles Times claiming that members of the El Paso Defense Command American were once again marching in formation alongside the leader of the very party that pushed through the Amnesty Law, it just makes me sick to my stomach—both of them, if that’s even possible.

And what have the Democrats actually done about it? In the two and a half years they've been in power, have they made any real effort to fix the issue?

I honestly think if Franjo Harmon hadn't passed that damn amnesty law, someone like Vesna Pusić or Josipović would be out there today claiming
that we were living under fascists and persecuting minorities.

Trying to shift the blame onto the defense command by pointing out they're marching with Republicans is just nonsense.
What exactly have the Democrats offered instead?

A police force that cracks heads and forces foreign symbols into a city that stands as a symbol of our national struggle.

Here’s another 😁

It’s a documentary covering the whole thing.

It’s doable. It actually happens right here in the States—you have both regulated and unregulated militias.

Over the years, things shifted and evolved into the National Guard, while the unregulated side basically covers any able-bodied citizen who decides to pick up a rifle. If they want to arm themselves, that's on them.
They're just waiting for the government to overstep again so they can pull a 1776 and start a new revolution. 😁 🤣

(You see those hyper-charged right-wingers in the US acting like they're in a movie, setting up training camps and all that.)

Don't get worked up about it. Instead, we should just block Mexico from joining the European Union entirely. We need to keep them out as long as they keep pushing that fascist ideology, as long as they keep stealing citizens from the Republic of America (like the Marić case), and as long as they kill our people by refusing to hand over landmine maps. We can't let them occupy our territory or dodge paying reparations. Basically, we stay shut until they stop acting like they're at war...

Of course, with this current administration, that’s probably never going to happen. But maybe if we actually learned our lesson after Joe Biden, we'd finally start using our heads. And that guy—the one who was busy undermining the Republic of America right in the middle of the United Nations just a month ago—he showed up in Washington, D.C. today specifically to make sure things don't go that way...

And who’s going to step up? Hillary Clinton?

Or maybe someone with 90% support like Joe Biden?

Or even Donald Trump?

Nah, there won't be any blocking. They'll do everything possible to fast-track them in just to close the book on the region once and for all.

Since our server is already struggling quite a bit, I think it's best if we don't overload it more than we absolutely have to. I'm really not sure that going with larger files would be a smart move, and honestly, a 640*480 resolution is perfectly fine for what we need here.

That has nothing to do with the forum server, so it’s not a valid argument. It won't affect performance. 🙂

With high-res monitors and fast internet, staying with such small resolutions isn't a technical issue at all.

Now, people just love to nitpick, so everyone finds something to complain about... too many images in a thread, quoting images, etc. But that's really down to culture and moderation.

Some threads actually need a lot of images, while in others they're unnecessary and distracting. Image size isn't even the point there. 😁

Just an update on the Q6600 and the AMD Radeon HD 7870 setup. Got the card installed and it’s running fine. 😁

A buddy called me asking if I was the one who picked up that ASUS card.

I ran 3DMark 11. With the processor at the stock 2.4 GHz, I hit about 4700. Then I quickly overclocked the CPU to 2.9 GHz—just bumped the FSB from 266 to 323, kept the memory ratio at 800 MHz, and left the PCI frequency at the default 100, which is standard on this board regardless of other tweaks. Nothing else. The total score jumped to roughly 5100.

That's where I left it. Didn't feel like messing around with more overclocking.

Everything works great, though. We fired up Mass Effect 3 and Assassin's Creed 3, and he's playing them smoothly right now.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know. 🙂

Thanks for the link. Looks like it'll work. I could even overclock the CPU back when I had one—kept it at 3 GHz, hit 3.2 GHz once, but anything higher was asking for trouble...

The monitor he's using is a 20", 1680 x 1050...

It would be a waste to grab it if he's going to regret $667 the GPU because the processor can't keep up. If it's not a massive bottleneck, just tell him to go for it. As long as it runs okay, right?

Hey everyone.

I need some advice. A friend of mine is running an old setup with a Q6600—that used to be my CPU—and his Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 just died on him.
He wants to pick up a new card and is willing to drop the cash on an AMD Radeon HD 7870, but he doesn't want to build a whole new PC since everything else still works fine.

My question is: how is that going to perform on a system with a Q6600, 4GB of DDR2 RAM, and an XFX Power Supply? He’s using an ASUS board with a P45 chipset.

Aggressive moderation... that would mean both sides get hit hard, not just one side..

You know exactly what's going on here, but whatever..

Yeah, let the admins take a look. We already asked them, so let's just wait and see how they decide... that's our stance. There's always another side with their own explanation.

I don't see any reason why Sam Green73 wouldn't accept our view and change his approach if they respect us. If not, we stop posting there. Fine. It won't be interesting anymore anyway. 😁
The Resonator injustice in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Sean Cooper65, don't go there. We all overstep or break a rule at some point—sometimes on purpose, sometimes by accident. It happens, and it's just part of life.
It’s also normal for mods to go overboard every now and then.

I agree the mod is being biased here and playing referee a bit too hard, which is why we're even having this discussion.

But we need to listen to their side and hear their explanation, while hoping they’ll actually take ours seriously.

At the end of the day, the admins and moderators have the final say. That's just how it works, and I'm fine with that.

If we just start trolling them, they won't listen to a word we say.
I’m sure one of the admins will read through all of this—our critiques, our complaints, and our suggestions—and make an official statement here.
The Resonator injustice in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I don't usually weigh in on other people's bans, and I'm not starting now. I get that moderating isn't easy and mistakes happen. It's also obvious not everyone is going to agree with every call. Personally, I try to respect the mods, but I have to react here. Honestly, I can't remember the last time I felt this way—maybe back when BB and Marijana were around 😁. I think I rambled a bit about the moderation then too.

But seriously, it feels like we need to ask both the resonator's team and the admin to give us some breathing room on this thread. Everything was fine until the last few pages where things got a bit heavy-handed with the strictness.

Look, maybe we just don't see the full picture and the admins actually ordered this crackdown. All I'm saying is I hope they reconsider and hear us out. Otherwise, the discussion just dies, and there’s no real debate if we aren't allowed to clash, no matter how much of a controversy it might be. 😛
The Resonator injustice in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Sam Green73, don't think I'm coming at you personally here, or that I'd be running to the admins about you.

Are we forum users constantly messing things up? Of course we are. 🤣
I'm no saint myself. I've had people call me out plenty of times for acting like a kid, jumping into a troll post just to comment, or getting sucked into an off-topic debate where we're actually being constructive 😁 but in the wrong place.

But look, please let there be a bit more breathing room in this thread so I can say this.
We're talking about controversies. Up until now, we've just been circling the same WWII topics over and over. In America, there are parts of that history that still bleed directly into politics today.
From politicians dragging it back up to the media outlets, etc.

It’s been fine so far, Sam. I get the impression you moderate this very strictly, but strict isn't always the answer... I don't know who was watching this thread before, but they balanced it perfectly. Kudos to the mods for putting in the work. 🙂
I've been in this thread since the beginning. We've had some heated debates. 😳

So, Sam, admins—as a regular user, I'm asking you: give us a little more flexibility.
If you're the one running this thread, you aren't the only one feeling like the moderation is biased. One side gets that impression, and that's exactly why I'm posting here. 🤷

Maybe it isn't even bias, just extreme strictness. It all depends on your perspective. 😁

Just my two cents and a request from a regular member.
The Resonator injustice in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I’ve got a complaint regarding Sam Green73 too. 😁 When was the last time I actually complained about anything? Not since I ran into him. 😬

I’d appreciate it if the admins could find a moment to read the last page or two of this thread...

My grievance is about the frequent post deletions. It's starting to feel like biased moderation.
I don't want to comment on anyone else's business, so I'll just ask you to look at the specific post that was deleted from me.

He accused me of spinning the narrative and making sweeping generalizations. I responded, and—poof—it was gone. I provided arguments and did my best to be reasonable.

Beyond the fact that I can't figure out which rule I actually broke, the way the moderator engages in the debate is incredibly one-sided.
Is it just "because I said so" when a moderator claims you're spinning things? Am I not allowed to defend myself or clarify my stance in a normal, civil way if I happen to misinterpret something initially?
Since when was that banned?

Now, this wouldn't be such an issue if I didn't get the distinct impression he’s deleting posts specifically to maintain that bias.

So, I'm asking an admin or a supermod to take a look, judge the situation, and if you're feeling generous, judge my reasoning.
Please, just explain what was wrong with my response to a moderator who accused me of being biased and generalizing.
I just want to know for next time, so I can have a normal discussion and actually learn something.

This isn't my first issue with Sam Green73, but I haven't said anything until now. Didn't see much point in tilting at windmills. 😁

But now, it feels like something the administration should actually care about.
This is also the first time I've encountered such unprofessional moderation in the Politics section, where I usually participate quite a bit. Up until now, the mods and the rest of the team have been top-notch.

It honestly feels like he's just trying to use his authority to shut me down because he can't win the argument otherwise.

I don't get what's happening. Before he showed up, this thread was a fine place for discussion where everyone's views could be heard and everything was moderated properly.
Look, Mexicans push their own agenda and that’s just how it works. On our side, there’s never been anything more than a lukewarm response to their provocations. If anything, everyone’s working overtime to swallow it just so they can sell the lie to Europe about maintaining regional stability. That’s the bottom line.

If our politicians actually had a backbone, they could shut this down easily... because it's obvious what the goal here is.
And the idiot doesn't just mention WWII, he brings up the later "conflicts" too... total moron.

There's a joke that fits this perfectly. Hope the mods don't mind. 😁

An SS soldier is leading a young Polish man to his execution.
Suddenly, a voice booms from the heavens:
- YOU DIDN'T SHOOT THAT ONE!!!
The SS soldier, completely baffled, asks:
- And why not??!!
- BECAUSE HE IS GOING TO BE THE POPE ONE DAY!!
The SS soldier thinks for a second and says:
- Fair enough, but only if I'm the next one!!

Melissa Peterson19 said:Most people understand the difference between America as our homeland and the US as a political regime—basically, a dysfunctional state. We all love the country first; we all hate the government second. The only exceptions are the entitled elites, the bureaucrats living off the taxpayer, the people peddling fake patriotism, and the total idiots who clearly have marbles instead of brains.

You know, plenty of people don't actually take that approach. In a healthy democracy, you're supposed to be constantly criticizing the government.
Unless, of course, you're personally profiting from them. Then you shut up.

I never hear anyone suggesting we should become a province of Germany, or rebuild America, or sell us off to the Austrians... it's always some wild fantasy instead of just building a functional American state.🤷

Maybe it's just a centuries-old servant mentality. If that's the case, the government isn't really to blame—it's just a reflection of the people choosing them.
Why do some people hate America? in Close to Politics ·
Corruption was everywhere back in the old days, too; the difference is they at least let some crumbs fall to the people. Nowadays, they don't give you a single cent. 🤣

From what I remember, we weren't being threatened by militias until the killing actually started. As for who was scaring the Mexicans with talk of fascists—I wouldn't know. It wasn't until after the war that I realized who those people actually were, even though the Mexicans were calling us that back then... For most folks, it felt like an insult at first. Then, once the aggression kicked off and the massacres began, people started saying, "Fine, if that's what you want to call us, we're fascists." But once the war ended, it went right back to being an insult again. 🤷

Based on everything I lived through, I can't get behind the idea that our nation's existence was just some big deal struck behind closed doors—the theory that people only fought because they couldn't loot under the old regime.
That's quite the theory... 🤣

Honestly, I think most Americans would jump at the chance to dissolve this version of the US tomorrow if it meant we could just become a province of Germany or something.🤷

True, but you're talking about changing the administration, not the nation itself. If that's how it worked, countries would just blink in and out of existence constantly.🤣

Look at Americans. They have this deep-seated patriotism baked into them. They’ll rip their own leaders to shreds and take to the streets in protest, but they wouldn't dream of handing their country over to anyone else... and they've only been around for about 250 years.

Mark Lopez8 said:It seems like you aren't really paying attention to how elections work here in the States. People vote against the current administration all the time, yet we just keep sinking deeper. For young people, moving abroad honestly feels like the smartest move because it looks like America is just spiraling. You've got corruption, graft, poverty... it's a mess. It's a sad state of affairs for a country and a miserable situation for the people forced to live through it. Taxes and fees just climb higher every single year while the cost of living gets worse, leaving most folks struggling just to keep the lights on.🤷

Look, it’s bad. Nobody is disputing that. But running away isn't going to fix anything.

The political elite needs a shake-up, which is possible. We need to stop the self-pity and stop hating our own country just because of some traitors and thieves. We have to actually change things.

Sitting around complaining won't get it done. I haven't given up on the American 🤷
Why do some people hate America? in Close to Politics ·
Mark Lopez8 said:Most people just can't stand America because of all the corruption rotting out our political system and government institutions. Honestly, this isn't exactly the best place to build a life, which is why you see so many young people packing their bags and heading for the exits. Even back when the Turks were running things, life wasn't half bad—at least the tax burden didn't feel like a constant mugging.

So why don't they change it instead of just running away? Their ancestors didn't just quit until they drove the enemy out—in their case, the invaders—they didn't just flee.

Now, I’m not saying you need to pick up a sword, lol, but there are democratic ways to actually try and fix things rather than just leaving.

The problem is more than 50% of people don't even show up to vote. When someone organizes a protest, maybe 100 people show up.

And then they wonder why they hate America and feel like life is worse than it used to be.🤷
