Appeal for partial ban removal in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Since the moderators have given the green light, I went ahead and cleared out your partial ban. Just a fair heads-up though—usually, once someone starts getting flagged, the higher-ups tend to be a lot less forgiving if things go south again. So, please, just be extra careful about how you engage with everyone else from here on out.
Good luck! 🙂

Kimberly White63 said:Look, I totally get why you're frustrated—it sucks when you pour your heart into a long post only to see it vanish into thin air. But here's the deal: even if your arguments are spot-on and perfectly relevant to the thread, if the post includes insults or goes after someone personally instead of their ideas, it's gotta go. It’s just how the rules work.

So, just a heads-up: try to steer clear of using phrases like the ones in **bold** if you don't want your whole contribution getting nuked.

It’s one thing to be wrong, but calling someone else an idiot? That's where we draw the line, regardless of whether they actually were being silly or not.

I'm right there with you on this. For anything else, let's just hang tight and wait for the supermod to weigh in.

His only post basically says it's up to the admins to decide, so I guess I'll just leave my fate in your hands 😬

There you go!

I honestly think the moderator hit the nail on the head when she explained what went wrong, so there's really no need to overanalyze things any further.

Anyway, rather than just locking this whole thing down, I’d really appreciate it if you guys could just delete the thread entirely. 😛 😬

We'll give it some thought. 😁

Kaiser - appealing someone else's ban in Feedback & Suggestions ·
You can only lodge an appeal regarding your own cards and penalties. As for Kaiser, he’s more than welcome to file his own protest if he feels he’s been treated unfairly.
Reddit search in Feedback & Suggestions ·
That option is pretty much off the table for now, and honestly, I have no clue if they’ll even consider bringing it back down the road.

Hannah Gomez75 said:The thread was deleted. Why?

I’m genuinely curious about what was so controversial in the quoted post.

Well, it's because we have a specific thread dedicated to appeals for bans, where people can argue their own cases—not where they can jump in to complain about someone else's punishment. If the moderation guidelines aren't clear to you, it would be much more helpful if you asked for a detailed breakdown with specific examples and moderator rulings, rather than just fixating on a penalty that wasn't even yours. We don't really do the whole thing where people debate sanctions they didn't personally receive. The moderator already laid it out for you in the post above, and since that ban doesn't involve you, it wouldn't be right for us to keep dragging out the conversation about it.

I suppose it’s time for me to embrace some actual forum maturity, though. I think I’ll start by finally wearing a suit to things.😁

It’s about time—honestly, looks like your avatar is already ahead of you. 😁

I’m looking to make a tiny tweak to my username—not even a full change, really, just capitalizing that first letter so it reads as Zachary Torres81, you know, the way God intended.

Back when I first signed up, I was young and, frankly, didn't have a serious bone in my body, but since I'm not exactly a kid anymore, I figure my handle should probably reflect this newfound sense of maturity I've picked up along the way.

Thanks.👍

No problem at all. 😁
Opening the WhatsApp chat? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Let’s try not to conflate a single discussion thread—or a US chat—with the entire forum structure. I’ve noticed a lot of you complaining about chats being shut down, but we’ve already walked through why this happens. It’s pretty obvious that over time, different cliques and groups tend to form within specific chats, which naturally changes the vibe, but at the end of the day, they are still just chat topics. These chats only stay open if the moderators agree to host them on the site. All our other main threads have to strictly follow the forum rules to be allowed, whereas the chat is really more of a little extra perk or a bonus for the community. Our main threads and all the standard topics are moderated constantly; the mods read through them, keep an eye out, handle reports, issue warnings, and delete whatever needs to be cleared out. Now, chat topics can get so incredibly hectic that it’s just impossible to monitor them with that same level of intensity, so the rules there are often a bit more relaxed, and in many cases, moderation mostly happens when someone actually files a report. Basically, while everything is fine for a while, once a chat becomes impossible to track alongside all the other topics, or when it starts turning into total chaos and causing more headaches than actual fun, it gets shut down. This happens more often in chats specifically because the moderation is lighter and the conversations are way more casual. I hope that clears things up for everyone.

If things are getting messy in other parts of the forum, you are more than welcome to start a new thread about it, provided you stick to the site rules. But honestly, calling for resignations or demanding new moderators just because a chat topic got closed is totally unnecessary.

We actually went over the whole deal regarding these chat topics just a few days ago.

Well, you guys managed to pick a fight right here yesterday, throwing around all sorts of ad hominem attacks and wild accusations even after my warning above. 🤦 If the WhatsApp groups in the States look even a fifth as chaotic as this, I can totally see why moderating them is such a massive headache. As for the chat threads themselves, they don't really fit the true spirit of the forum, and honestly, no PDF should be required to host one. While I'll admit chat topics can have this beautiful dynamic where people actually get to know each other and bond—someone even mentioned they have "soul"—too often they just end up creating tension that spills over into the rest of the PDF. Because posts pile up so incredibly fast in a short window of time, it’s practically impossible to moderate them consistently and properly; usually, there's way too much freedom, and we mostly just rely on user reports. But sometimes, that simply isn't enough. Precisely because of all these potential headaches, moderators aren't obligated to maintain a chat thread. Not anywhere, not even on WhatsApp. I know firsthand how exhausting it is—how draining it can be and how much time it sucks away that could be spent moderating everything else on the PDF, only to still be left with nothing. Ultimately, whether a chat survives comes down to the crew posting there, how they conduct themselves, and how well they can police themselves without needing constant intervention through reports. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. I know the moderators on WhatsApp have been trying for years to keep those chats going, but I neither can nor want to demand they oversee them like any other regular thread. And we aren't going to appoint a moderator just for a chat, either. It’s just not necessary. From what I can see, you still have your chat. One single thread should be more than enough. Just make an effort to keep it civil. Report the nonsense, don't fan the flames, and don't get dragged into the arguments. The ignore button is a beautiful tool that comes in so handy. If things stay chill, the chat might actually thrive.

Since I was still figuring things out back then—total rookie mistake, really—I managed to lose my password and ended up creating a second account under "rayoflight." Is there any way I can merge these or just get back into my original account? Thanks!😵

It’s still there. Shoot me a DM with all the details regarding that old profile.

Post edit error: "More than one character required in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I actually flagged this earlier today, along with a few other glitches I ran into. To be fair, though, nobody else seems to have mentioned the specific issue you brought up. It looks like they were working on some fixes because things seemed to smooth out on my end, so if you get a chance, could you double-check if you're still running into those headaches while trying to edit? 🙂

I decided to pull this thread down for a bit since things have been getting a little out of hand, so I’ll be spending the next few days cleaning everything up and moderating the mess. Thanks for understanding!
bluebison8 said:So, what you're saying is they stripped out the part about the moderation, but if they hadn't done that, what would have happened? Would it have just been deleted entirely or would there have been a strike issued?
On actual professional forums, mods usually just pull the offending section and leave the rest intact. If the only issue was the stuff in parentheses, then just cut that bit out and restore my post, just like they do for everyone else whose posts get edited because they weren't targeting the staff.

Honestly, it’s exactly because of these ridiculous standards that I’ve found myself writing less and less here over the years. This whole forum has turned into a complete joke compared to several international boards I've come across. It feels just like how this entire country is a joke sometimes.

Every single one of those deleted posts was specifically attacking the moderation, which means they were breaking the rules and could have easily earned a strike. There was one exception where someone went way too far with the ad hominem attacks, and in that case, the moderator had a choice: either get sucked into a back-and-forth argument or shut it down right there. He chose to shut it down—which is exactly what he should've done.

The moderators are given guidelines stating they shouldn't be editing post content; essentially, they aren't supposed to add or subtract anything unless it's a special circumstance (like if a user accidentally leaks private info like an email address or their full legal name). They definitely aren't allowed to touch the content of posts that are controversial for any reason. So, if you write a massive wall of text and then decide to abuse it by sneaking in a sentence criticizing the staff—thinking nobody will touch it because the main body is "on-topic"—you're dead wrong. Moderators have to react when people start coming at them, and it isn't wise to leave those comments sitting in a thread; theoretically, they are obligated to remove such posts. And if there's anything in a post that violates the rules, they strictly ARE NOT ALLOWED to edit it.
