My apologies! 😢

True enough... I'm off to AT&T.😳

Steven Clark2 said:Hmm... so by "liking," you mean the English term like? 🙄

Are we not in the right thread here?😕

Yeah, exactly. A "like" as in a "like."😳

Steven Clark2 said:Are you absolutely certain about that? 😉 I once had to spend an exhausting amount of time explaining this very concept to some guy...

Check out the first link (and then immediately look at the following post) and the second link (specifically that first paragraph). 🙂

That’s exactly why I brought up the possibility that some people might just completely miss the point of what they're reading. 🙂

Honestly, I don't see much to explain here... when you genuinely like someone or something, it's just straightforward. We understand each other, right?😁

(Pretty sure)😉

Steven Clark2 said:I actually find the way this guy talks quite charming. 🤷

Now, I can already hear someone asking me what on earth I mean by charming. 😍

Don't worry, we all know exactly what it means to find something charming.
And we're all giving that sentiment a thumbs up.😁

(much like lenses) 😬

Improper thread closure in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Benjamin Palmer40 said:The first half of that sentence just screams ignorance from someone who clearly doesn't know what they're talking about. Honestly, if you couldn't even hold hands with a girl without someone giving you side-eye or starting a fight, you probably shouldn't be posting this kind of nonsense in the first place.

🤣🤣Good grief, William... since when did you turn lesbian?!

Oh, my bad... sorry about that.😂

Here is my take on the whole situation:
The only thing that should actually matter is whether a thread meets the community standards of an American forum—whether it’s being offensive, whether it makes sense, or if it follows our established guidelines. If all those boxes are checked, there's really no reason to shut it down.
If a discussion devolves into a complete shouting match or turns into total nonsense, then yeah, lock it. Case closed.🤷

Jose Taylor17 said:There was a certain ritualistic quality to dial-up, wasn't there? It wasn't just about getting online; it was an entire sensory experience. You’d sit there, staring at that chunky monitor, listening to that iconic, screeching symphony of electronic handshakes—that digital birth cry that signaled you were finally entering the gateway to the World Wide Web. It sounded like a robot having a minor existential crisis, yet we sat there, captivated, waiting for that single, precious connection to hold. It was a test of patience, really. Modern fiber optics feel almost too easy, too frictionless. Back then, if someone picked up the landline in the kitchen to check if they needed more milk, your entire digital existence vanished in a puff of static. You learned to negotiate bandwidth like a diplomat. You didn't just "browse"; you navigated a fragile, slow-moving stream of data, praying the connection wouldn't drop while a single JPEG slowly crawled onto your screen line by agonizing line. There was a weight to it, a sense of intention. You didn't just stumble onto the internet; you made an appointment with it.😕 What exactly are we looking at here?🤣😂

Wait, aren't we talking about those old-school rotary phones? You know, the big black ones where you actually had to physically spin the dial for every single digit?😕

😬

rapidrider3 said:Honestly, I’m just as lost as you are. I haven't the slightest clue what we're even talking about here.

Do you really think we're headed toward war? 🤷

She bumped my storage limit up to 10 GB for now, so I’ll just sit tight and see how that plays out. Once I finally land a moderator position, though, I’m definitely going to set myself up with a flat rate.🤣

Oh, wow... look at you with that cutting-edge, state-of-the-art DSL connection. Truly living in the future.🤣
You actually threw me for a loop when you mentioned that this forum eats up your entire data plan. I mean, wow. If we’re being honest here... are we talking about downloading massive amounts of adult content? Because ten gigs goes pretty fast when you're deep in that rabbit hole, doesn't it?😁

😕
What, are you still running on dial-up or something?
How are you supposed to manage anything here if you don't have a life outside the screen and you're stuck on a 56k modem?😢

rapidrider3 said:Yeah, exactly. I’m fairly certain the admins have hidden cameras tucked away somewhere just to monitor every single move we make on this forum. It wouldn't surprise me one bit.
I honestly don't understand what people are obsessing over when they look at a setup. They spend all this time nitpicking the cable management on a desk, debating whether someone’s monitor is 24 or 27 inches, or acting like there's some kind of holy grail regarding PC specs and hardware. It’s a bit much, isn't it? As if having a specific GPU or a certain brand of mechanical keyboard somehow dictates the quality of the person sitting in the chair. It's all just gear.
? 😁

Yes.
And then we have the moderators with their obsessive-compulsive tendencies. Honestly, at this point, it’s become a legitimate hiring advantage—it really has.☕

Look, it’s pretty straightforward. You play by the rules, keep your digital house in order, write clearly and thoughtfully, and don't go looking for a fight. Think of it like applying for a management role at a firm like Goldman Sachs—you show up polished, you're reliable, and you don't cause drama. Eventually, the moderators take notice. When the time comes to appoint new mods, they’ll put your name forward, the admin team will give it a quick once-over, and just like that, you're in.

And so 🙂
wiredcyclist said:I find it hard to believe that in this day and age, anyone browsing the web doesn't realize that all those annoying ads can be neutralized with simple little plugins or browser extensions. For instance, I personally run Adblock Plus on Firefox, and I honestly don't even notice banners or pop-ups anymore. There are even specific Flash blockers for when certain content gets too intrusive. These little tools are actually quite smart; they have a "learning" feature where you can manually whitelist what you want to see and blacklist the rest.

Most people seem to grasp the concept, but they just can't be bothered to install anything. They claim they hate seeing ads the moment a page loads, but then they refuse to act. Look, I definitely lost my mind when ads started jumping all over my screen,😠 but I took a few minutes to set things up and now they're gone for good.

But nooo... it’s much easier for them to complain about it on fifty different forums, venting and grumbling without actually achieving anything, rather than just clicking a few buttons and fixing the problem once and for all.

For some reason, that specific function isn't triggering—unless you're using the quick reply box, of course. If you’re looking to switch things up with a different color, you’ll just have to type it out manually. So, instead of selecting "black," you'd simply enter "blue," "green," or "red"... and so on.

who poured so much unpaid effort into this forum

Look, let’s be real. She certainly had certain advantages that aren't really worth debating right now. But even so, if she were a moderator today, she would possess those specific privileges that come with the role—you know exactly which ones I mean.

Oh, so that's what we're calling it now. A "deal."
Thanks for the lesson.

And you find that problematic? Would you still be willing to work for nothing?

Well, I’d still be working for nothing.
I have no idea which set of rules you're referencing here.🤷

Ah, so that's what we're calling it. An "agreement."
Thanks for the education, really. I appreciate the insight.☕

Look, maybe she overreacted a bit with that last post on the moderator board, but banning her entirely? That seems like a massive overkill.

Anthony Cook3 said:So, we’re moderating for free now? Honestly, if this were my forum, I’d make sure all the moderators were getting a decent paycheck too, not just the admins.

Are you seriously suggesting... everyone would be getting a paycheck?😢

Alright, enough with the jokes. The admins will be reaching out to address this shortly.
