Regarding the actual topic... yes, there's a significant chance a woman could develop schizophrenia or pass it down to her children, but it’s not a certainty; you can't predict those things with any precision.
Would I get into a relationship with someone like that? If I fell in love, I probably would—that’s just how I am. I don't tend to dwell on "what ifs," though perhaps I really should start doing so.

Well, in that case, I have to say no.
Why?
Because I know exactly what I'm talking about. I spent most of my life in direct contact with someone living with schizophrenia, watching my entire family do everything humanly possible to support them, right up until they took their own life a few years ago.

The vast majority of people have no idea how cruel schizophrenia actually is (and frankly, it's better they don't), nor how much it ravages both the individual and everyone in their orbit, year after year. You find yourself praying for even a few days of respite from the chaos, but there is no relief. There simply isn't any. Once you've cycled through endless combinations of medication cocktails over many years, even the drugs stop working.

Kudos to anyone who could altruistically enter a relationship like that, knowing full well they will never receive the basic companionship and stability that anyone expects from a partner.
I am not that kind of altruist.

I’m not exactly the hugging type—I rarely even go for it with my actual friends (unless I've had a few too many drinks🤣)—but there's something about this that works for me. It feels like a small way to break up the monotony of daily life and just... be human for a second.🙂
