How to bulk up / gain weight in Hobbies & Leisure ·
James Price83 said:I basically eat three big meals a day plus whatever random snacks I can grab during the day or evening—mostly sweets and fruit since I don't smoke. It’s honestly frustrating because if I overeat one day—like if I polish off two cookies at night—then I try to be super disciplined the next day and... nothing. Not even a single pound lost. I know most people would kill for this kind of metabolism 😵

Can you walk me through your diet? Gaining 21 lbs is pretty impressive. Were you hitting the protein supplements or just keeping it natural?

As for training, I've never actually stepped foot in a gym; I've always just done my thing at home. Right now, I'm using a home workout app, mostly sticking to bodyweight stuff.

Look, I used to take protein, but honestly, it's irrelevant—it's probably like 2% of the equation. Whey and all those supplements aren't going to make or break you. Do yourself a favor: join a gym, stay consistent, and hit up YouTube. There's an endless amount of info online about how to perform exercises, what routines to run, and when to push yourself. As for eating, stick to three solid meals and maybe two smaller ones. And forget the cookies and all that junk—it's a waste of time. Focus on real food: pasta, rice, eggs, tuna, whole grain bread, healthy fats like olive oil, fruits, and veggies. Stick to that, and you'll see results in about two months. Also, stop obsessing over the scale and look in the mirror instead. You'll see plenty of guys who are the exact same height and weight but look completely different. One guy is pure fat and the other is ripped—the scale won't tell you which one you are.

James Price83 said:Hey,

I'm a guy, 23 years old, standing 6'1" and weighing about 154 lbs—which is honestly driving me nuts because I feel like I eat a ton, and I don't even track my meals or anything. But regardless, I just can't seem to budge past that 154 mark. Anyone else here deal with this kind of thing? Looking for some solid advice on how to bulk up healthy and actually pack on some muscle. I've started hitting the gym, specifically avoiding cardio for now.

What does "a lot" even mean? Give us a breakdown of what you ate yesterday. A ton of people think they’re eating massive amounts when, in reality, they’re barely scratching the surface. And what's your actual training routine look like? Back in the day, I was sitting at 152 lbs at 6'5", and today I'm pushing nearly 200 lbs—so yeah, I think I know a thing or two about this...
Staying consistent with training in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Look, Cvarkusa, you aren't going to see any damn results until you actually fix what's on your plate and start eating clean—real, high-quality food. You could be hitting the gym seven days a week, grinding away like crazy, and it won't matter one bit if your diet is trash. It’s just physics at this point. Diet is everything, seriously. Just remember that.

I’d say you gotta hit the gym at least three times a week, then throw in some cycling or running maybe twice more just to stay sharp. Personally, I’m hitting the weights five days a week for an hour per session—and on those two days I’m skipping the gym, I’ll go out and knock out a solid 4 or 5-mile run. But honestly? During July and August, I basically take a total break from training.

So, I'm looking at this Intel Core i5 7200U CPU running at 2.50GHz... and honestly? It’s kind of a relic at this point. If you're still rocking this chip, you're basically driving a mid-range sedan from about a decade ago—it gets you to the grocery store, sure, but don't expect to win any drag races on the interstate. It was a decent little workhorse back in its day, especially for light office stuff or just browsing the web, but let's be real—modern software is getting bloated fast. If you try to push anything heavy on this, like a modern AAA title or some intensive video editing, you're going to feel that bottleneck immediately. It's fine for checking emails or streaming Netflix while you're lounging around, but if you're thinking about using this for anything serious, you might want to start looking at an upgrade. Just my two cents.
So, I just booted up my rig and saw that "16.0 GB (15.9 GB usable)" line in the system info. Honestly? It’s driving me a little nuts, even if it's technically normal. It feels like I paid for the full amount and someone's skimming off the top—kind of like when you order a double cheeseburger at a drive-thru and realize they barely even put the second patty on there. For those who haven't spent hours staring at task manager screens, don't panic. You aren't being robbed. That tiny sliver of missing RAM—that 0.1 GB—is basically just being earmarked by your hardware. Usually, it's the integrated graphics chip grabbing a little slice of the pie to handle basic display tasks before the dedicated GPU even gets a chance to breathe. It’s just the way the motherboard and the OS shake hands. It’s nothing to lose sleep over, unless you're trying to squeeze every single megabyte out of a budget build, but for most of us, it's just a quirk of how Windows handles things.
So, you're running a 64-bit OS on an x64-based processor. Basically, you've finally moved past that ancient 32-bit bottleneck and actually have some breathing room to work with. It’s the standard now—if you aren't running 64-bit, you're basically driving a car with three wheels. You get better memory addressing, more stability, and you can actually run modern software without the whole thing choking out on you. Just a heads-up though, make sure your hardware is actually keeping up with the architecture, otherwise, all that extra overhead is just going to sit there doing nothing.
So, I’m looking at this Nvidia GeForce 940MX card—honestly, it's a bit of a relic at this point, isn't it? It’s one of those entry-level chips that people usually find tucked away in some budget laptop from a few years back. If you're trying to pull anything decent out of it, you really have to manage your expectations. It’s definitely not going to be tearing through modern AAA titles like you'd expect from a high-end rig, but for basic stuff? It does the job. Just don't go expecting to play Grand Theft Auto V on max settings without your fans sounding like a jet engine taking off.
Just a standard 1TB HDD—5400 RPM, SATA interface. Honestly? It’s basically a paperweight in 2024 if you're trying to actually run anything modern. If you're thinking about using this as a boot drive, please, for the love of god, don't. You'll be staring at loading screens until you grow old and gray. Stick it in an external enclosure for some dead files or maybe some old photos from a decade ago, but don't expect it to do any heavy lifting. It's slow, it's loud, and it's definitely not where you want your OS sitting.
So, I'm looking at this 128 GB M.2 SSD... and honestly? It’s kind of a joke. Like, we aren't living in 2010 anymore, people. You try to install Windows, grab a few basic apps, maybe throw Grand Theft Auto V on there if you're feeling brave, and boom—you're already staring at that "disk space low" notification. It’s practically useless for anything other than a glorified boot drive for a budget office machine. If you're thinking about picking this up for a main drive, just don't. Save your money and get something with actual breathing room.
Windows 10
Man, this laptop is only like two months old.
The real issue here is that I can't actually play anything—the second I try to launch a game, everything just turns into this absolute slideshow. It gets incredibly sluggish and basically unplayable.
Look, I’m not exactly an expert on this stuff—I'm pretty much out of my depth here—so if anyone actually knows what’s going on, please hit me up with some ideas. I could really use a hand figuring this out.
Look, we’ve already gone through the whole ritual twice now—completely nuking everything and doing a clean install of Windows from scratch. And honestly, once that’s done, the games run perfectly fine. I was playing Grand Theft Auto V—which, let's be real, is pretty demanding on a rig—and it was smooth as silk. No stuttering, no nothing. But then, the second Windows pushes some random update, the game just hits a wall. It slows down to a crawl and becomes completely unplayable. It's infuriating.
I even went as far as recording some old strategy game footage from back in 2009—something my current rig should be able to chew through without breaking a sweat—but it’s running so incredibly sluggish that it’s actually unplayable.
Anyone got any idea what might be going on here?

Best protein powders for muscle gain? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Arthur Fisher28 said:So, uh... I've got this Hyper Mass 6000 from Multipower and the label says I should mix 150g with 550ml of milk?? WTF, isn't that a massive amount??? Also, it says to drink it once a day, but I'm hitting the gym twice a day, every single day?? HELP ME OUT HERE!

It’s not "too much" because let's be real—Hyper Mass is just a basic gainer loaded with sugar and barely any actual protein. Next time you're out buying supplements, do yourself a favor and grab some Weider whey or Dymatize Elite Whey. Yeah, they might cost a few bucks more, but they're easily five times better quality than that brand and definitely way better than those cheap gainers.

deni86 said:I just caught wind of this whole mess regarding the new fan legislation being pushed through, and honestly? It’s absolute garbage. I was reading through the details earlier, and it feels like they’re just looking for any excuse to tighten the leash on regular people who actually care about their teams. It’s the same old story—politicians getting together in some marble hall in D.C., thinking they know more about sports culture than the people actually sitting in the stands at a Friday night game. They talk about "safety" and "order," but let's call it what it really is: a power grab. They want to turn every stadium into a high-security prison zone where you can't even breathe without a permit. I remember back when I was trying to catch a game in Chicago, and there was already enough red tape to make your head spin. Now, they want to bake these restrictions right into the legal code. It’s heavy-handed, it’s unnecessary, and it’s going to kill the atmosphere. You can't have that raw, electric energy in a crowd if everyone is too terrified of a fine or a run-in with the law to actually cheer. The logic they're using is so flimsy it’s almost insulting. They claim certain groups of fans are "troublemakers," which is such a lazy way to sweep an entire community under the rug. Instead of dealing with actual bad actors—you know, the guys who actually cause problems—they’d rather pass broad laws that slap everyone with the same restrictions. It’s lazy policing, plain and simple. If this goes through, it's going to change the face of American sports forever. We’ll go from passionate, loud crowds to these sanitized, corporate-approved gatherings where everything is controlled and nothing is spontaneous. It sucks, it’s unfair, and quite frankly, it’s a joke. We need to keep pushing back before this becomes the new normal.

Let it happen. Let the tears fall. Honestly, let them come. 😂

Kimberly Alvarez7 said:The first time I got "hit," I was about 15 or 16. There was a massive crowd 😁 near the entrance to the West stands. I ended up being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Mostly, I just ended up with baton marks on my back for a few days. My point is, I didn't cry. Is that good or bad? Does it mean I was a hooligan if I didn't cry, or was I supposed to have...?🤷

lonewolf2, master, can we be friends?

good: 👍

- where else would you find this? that guy in blue aiming with his nails while the ones below watch the game with a smile. one look at you and they start acting tough immediately.

😁 👍

not good: 👎

- honestly don't know what they were trying to achieve with this move. plenty of space available, yet they crowd near the top of the stands and end up trampling their own people.🤷

p.s.

👍

Alright, just try not to burst into tears the second someone looks your way... 😢

George Roberts2 said:Are you actually serious right now? You honestly believe we just sat around and let them treat us like this by choice? Please. Just turn on the nightly news. Follow the facts in a straight line and try sticking to one coherent argument for once.

So what, are we just gonna go back to bashing the cops again? Why is it that the second something hits the papers or shows up on TV, you guys immediately jump to the conclusion that the police beat someone up? Huh? Is it because it gives you an excuse to sit around and talk trash? It’s funny how it works—if there's a bad story about fans in the news, suddenly everyone's a critic, crying about how "the media isn't objective" or "these reporters are lying." But the moment an article drops saying "Officer hit Joe Smith," then suddenly it's all "they're all the same, blah, blah, blah!"

But honestly, what more is there to be said after witnessing the absolute filth in that video, or even after everything our colleague has laid out so eloquently? I’ll leave all that empty demagoguery to the politicians and their little puppets...☕
Actually, I suppose there is one thing left to say: I hope they drag your kid away from the stadium just like they did in that footage...🙂🙂

Look, my crew would never sink that low. It's just not how we roll. 🙂
