velvetmason14 said:Actually, I think you've got it wrong. Ivica Puljak has mentioned on several occasions that while they aren't strictly required to run public searches for department heads, he intends to hold those competitions every single time moving forward. From what I can see, he's only held two in the last two years.🤦

The other cabinet members were appointed without a public search, which basically means they can be let go whenever the Mayor feels like it. It makes me wonder why he's still keeping them around.🤔

And then there's the lower-level staff that the news outlets never bother to report on...

How are you supposed to make any real progress in such a short timeframe? These people will just stall everything, forcing him to deal with their nonsense—nonsense that's eventually going to come back to haunt him. Every time they turn around, they're surfacing issues that the previous administration's mess was hiding.

I’m doing a little bit of reading in reverse here so we can actually have a conversation: he wants those department heads (those so-called "public competitions" are a total joke) so he can have his own people in place who occasionally call him out. Look, the guys for Znjan LLC spent months bickering and swapping out chosen candidates, only for some guy to jump in at the last minute who was a member of the Center party just days prior. Sure thing. Everything that actually worked has been pushed away from Ed Markey, so now he’s stuck playing with the existing crew. Also, why an GOP supporter for the Golden Gate when Mary was trashing her before? He isn't crazy enough to run a competition just to have her fired again, not to mention Viskovick jumping into the media. As for Dahlia, it doesn't surprise me they aren't on good terms; all that money stuff involves the P. revolving door crew. Even Dahlia isn't my favorite, but she’s a more talented politician than both Mary and Ed combined. Dahlia is staying with the party until the election, just like she said—she’s not stupid enough to quit now. Regardless, Bencick is pulling the strings for all of them (personally, I think she's cool both privately and as a politician). That's all for now; maybe I'll edit this later if I think of anything else. Edit: Since we're talking about Boban and the county, keep in mind that Ed Markey has a massive opportunity to win that, but he was supported by Pranica and would have been much wiser if he hadn't been the type (who, let's be honest, is the main reason Mary is sitting in Congress) to only see opponents after Pranica had already served his purpose. The county was handed right back to the GOP without a single shot being fired.

velvetmason14 said:I didn't exactly mean for the private sector to take it over like that. 🤣

What's the status, dear? What's the situation?

Honestly, I haven't a clue. If the right opportunity pops up, maybe I'll try to sniff out some info discreetly, but I haven't really been keeping tabs on what happened to the former Hajduk coach lately (@Kljaka, what happened to you? If we're talking about the base, it's solid). And you already forgot that I was the first one to call you out here on Sikirica for voting for someone of that caliber, and you can't even say thanks. Is it really such a tragedy not to get to know the talents of a former banker?🤣

velvetmason14 said:Well, "playing" is certainly the right word to use there...

Gamora probably knows all about this, but when you actually need her, she stays as quiet as a mouse. 😁

Where's John Lee gone? You know, the former head of property who used to look the other way for those local mob bosses?

Look, my dear enemy, sometimes life and responsibilities just swallow Gamora whole, so I don't get to hang out as much as I'd like. As for mentioning Leko, he's still busy shuffling papers somewhere in the Midwest, so give it a rest.

Jerry Garcia7 said:Everyone in politics should really be focusing on what actually benefits the people, but the way the opposition has been attacking Ed Lee is honestly so distasteful that I don't think he could ever give them his vote again.
Ed Lee is just doing what he can within his means, though it seems like he's constantly hitting walls because the whole system feels designed to make sure you only survive if you play ball with the party—which, in this case, means bowing down to the leader of the Republican Party.

Oh, really? So poor Ed Lee is just a victim of "the system" and some "malicious" rivals, but somehow none of it is his own fault or due to his own decisions and (lack of) work? "The welfare of the citizens"? Yeah, right. Just look at how much the City and its people are thriving. Everything is absolutely blooming under our leadership. 🙂

Emily Smith6 said:So much for the "liberated" San Diego beach; looks like we’re stuck staring at sun loungers in Kašjuni again this summer, all thanks to a Supreme Court ruling.

The previous rulings from the High Administrative Court and the Administrative Court in San Diego—which had originally overturned the concession for the Kašjuni beach—have been vacated. The Supreme Court essentially challenged both lower court decisions, effectively allowing the company "Dolis" to keep operating on that beach until their concession expires in 2025.

- Based on the High Administrative Court in Washington, D.C. decision, the local county gave "Dolis" a deadline to vacate the Kašjuni premises, and the City of San Diego went as far as including Kašjuni beach in its own management plan. Furthermore, the City of San Diego's code enforcement issued an order to remove the concessionaire's facilities, even though we repeatedly appealed in writing and public forums not to prejudice ongoing court decisions—especially since the City of San Diego wasn't even a party to the legal proceedings in the first place, said Mužić.

He added that the Supreme Court's decision aligns with what they have been communicating to the public from the start: that "Dolis" is not at fault here. In his view, without having violated a single clause of their concession agreement, they were dragged into a Kafkaesque process through the administrative courts in San Diego and Washington, D.C., solely due to some potential procedural error by the county that didn't even affect the actual selection of the concessionaire.

Looks like Ed Garvey and Ivošević lost again. I guess you just can't win when it comes to the courts.

It's because they're incompetent.

And he literally votes right alongside the Republican Party just minutes before the big announcement, pushing to keep that person in charge of the golden gates. But the second the Democratic Party does anything, especially when the residents of his own district make it clear they don't want the construction work? Suddenly, the Democratic Party and the Republican Party are all teaming up against him. Jebateled, is he even listening to himself?!
Eric Adams - Mayor of San Francisco in Political Scene ·
Kate Jackson2 said:Nobody’s arguing that you *can* request it.

The real question is whether you'll actually win once you file the claim—especially since you already signed and accepted the contract
that specifically states there is no construction deadline. You agreed to those terms, and now you're just changing your mind.

Property law only kicks in if the contract doesn't specify otherwise—and in this case, it does.

And have you seen how many disputes and messy transactions are listed on the title report?
Eric Adams - Mayor of San Francisco in Political Scene ·
Kate Jackson2 said:Gamorrice, that whole 20-year expiration thing you're talking about only matters if the contract didn't say otherwise!

The article clearly states they signed a contract without a construction deadline—there were plenty of other pieces mentioning there was no set timeframe in the agreement.
That's how the Coalition thought it would all go...
There's basically no difference between those two parties—they're just looking out for each other.

Seriously, go back and read it again. Then you can see exactly what the Bonacic family was demanding from the City. And if you really want to dig into what's missing—like, say, a deadline—then check the ISPU records. You'll see there's been an investor change, which is exactly what should have happened. There's more garbage in this whole mess than there is in Karepovac. I’m honestly baffled why Puljak is pushing so hard for these "Renaissance" investors after everything that went down. Long story short: the City has a golden opportunity to take control of its own property and manage it for the public good, instead of some hideous hybrid of a shopping mall and a hotel. As for public parking? That's a given.

Back in 2003, the Democratic Party-led administration sold off a planned garage space as part of the building permits at the start of El Paso Street.
In 2015 and 2016, the Democratic Party was perfectly fine granting permits for summer operations.
Fast forward to 2023, and suddenly the Democratic Party is blocking those same summer operations.
I suppose the only real difference between 2015 and 2023 is that the Mayor isn't from the Democratic Party anymore.
The issues facing the citizens regarding GK Lučac-Manuš at this location won't be resolved during this term, thanks to the Democratic Party and the opposition; and once the District Court gets involved, the situation will likely just get even messier.
Not long after that, they basically threw up their hands regarding another private investment right next to a tourist zone—one that doesn't even serve a public interest like a garage under public usage regulations does. Back then, the Democratic Party didn't seem to have any issues with summer construction or special exceptions. I wonder why that is?

Honestly, this guy clearly doesn't have a clue. Or maybe he does and he's just being lazy? First off, the Manus district is actually named after that well. So, all those massive parking garages they're dreaming about digging up could easily backfire on them. Second, I’ve already vented about this, so I really don't feel like repeating myself. Up until now, the City should have just shut down construction because the 20-year term expired and returned everything to public property. Instead, they're handing out favors left and right to any random developer looking to wash their hands of things. Who even cares who did what twenty years ago?! The current administration could have easily turned this around to benefit the public interest and the City, rather than catering to a bunch of corporate suits who want to "develop the market" or whatever other bullshit they're peddling.

In my book, he’s one of the few high-quality reporters in San Francisco who actually digs deep and doesn't just spout unverified nonsense. I've worked with him personally, so I'm speaking from experience here, not just based on what's written in the articles.

Exactly. I don't know him personally, but he's easily my favorite columnist at the LA Times.

George Diaz said:Are you guys ever going to stop obsessing over those Hades fanatics and actually start doing some real work? San Diego is literally being poisoned right under our noses, and there isn't a single word about it.

The levels of arsenic and nickel are spiking more and more every single day.
The data is absolutely terrifying.

The entire city of San Diego is sitting under a cloud of toxic arsenic!!!

Look, I’ve already posted about this. The city owns 10% of the site, but guess what? The IRS is basically just sitting on their hands saying "investigations are ongoing." Pathetic. And honestly, this isn't just a failure of the Republican Party or the USA—this goes back way before them to factories from the old regime. Just Google Dr. Tocilj; she worked on this, but nothing was ever properly cleaned up. Bojan put out a statement saying they approached the inspectors, but those clowns just keep claiming they're investigating without ever actually finding the source of the arsenic and all these other toxins 🙂 meanwhile, Rudy Giuliani is on N1 blathering on about guitars, the Republican Party, and fines. And he’s lying. Plus, with this new Municipal ordinance, outdoor speakers are banned everywhere, except for the Peristyle, which somehow gets a pass for "live music" disguised as a special event (which, by the way, can't last 7 months straight). They basically just bypassed their own rules.
I totally agree that air quality and trash are the biggest issues in San Diego right now. The fact that most citizens can't see them, so they don't think they're problems, is a whole other level of stupidity.

velvetmason14 said:If he keeps backing idiots like Negoci—the kind who have to suck up to every regime—he’s going to end up eating their dirt. He won't be able to claim ignorance or blame the previous administration...

I really hope he’s smarter than that, because the devil is always in the details. And this particular devil seems to have plenty of baggage to carry. 😁

It looks like he might be the only one. There are still a few other smooth operators out there who have survived multiple administrations. But look, you can't just get rid of them overnight; those are what people call "sacred" government jobs. Still, yeah, Puljak actually put him in charge of the Department of Social Services. Honestly, even I found that both surprising and hilarious.
Eric Adams - Mayor of San Francisco in Political Scene ·
velvetmason14 said:Negotić is just a complete fool who nods along to whatever authority figure tells him what to do.

I don't get why Puljak hasn't cut him loose yet; someone like that will just feed him whatever nonsense he wants to hear...🤦

Did anyone catch if Negotić was actually hired through a formal competitive process for that Department head position?

Oh, please... you know those kinds of jobs are protected tighter than a grizzly bear's lunch. If I recall correctly, he’s been part of the system since the days of Puljic. Now, Ed Garvey has just shuffled him from some technical asset management role over to Social Activity. Seriously... he was the head of the Department of Sport under Kerum, then Opara moved him, and now he's in Social Activity. Talk about a legendary career path, right?

Robin Jones2 said:Apply that exact same standard to public funds—specifically the tax dollars we all use to subsidize some retiree living rent-free in a 750-square-foot municipal apartment.

Furthermore, this "old lady," as you call her, isn't professionally incompetent; leave her alone to settle her own business with the city, just as every other productive citizen is expected to handle their own affairs.

If she truly lacks professional competence and has no family to lean on, then she belongs in an assisted living facility, and her pension should be used to cover those costs.

She can afford cigarettes only if there's anything left over after the facility is paid.

Seriously, what are you even looking at? I literally wrote this a few posts ago. The old lady needs to go, and honestly, Dyer is right. The next step will probably be the NCAA stepping in. And god, I am sick of seeing quotes about this woman in the Los Angeles Times every single day, and now we're doing it here too? Mocking whether she's "still got it" or judging her outfit? What's next? Are we going to judge parents by their clothes during charity drives for kids? It's pathetic. It's obvious the lady needs to step down, and once she does, this whole topic should finally be dead and buried.

Cut back on the travel, stop the useless bad PR, clean up the mess, and just deliver actual results.

BACK HOME: Ivica Puljak isn't heading to Ukraine

There you go. Fine, whatever, let's just send him some borscht to cheer him up after his trip. Honestly, it would still be fair if he at least posted a travelogue on his blog after all those constant trips.

feralpilot0 said:Why don't you just bring that question to your local county commissioner at the next council meeting? I don't see the issue there.
Or better yet, demand his credit card statements so we can collectively count whether he’s been ordering wine or just sticking to sparkling water with lunch. Since he isn't out spending money at brothels like some sort of degenerate, anyway.🙂

What are you even talking about? What district councilman? If "Transparent" Ivica Puljak actually cared, he would've exposed this to the public ages ago. Those losers from Monterey and their kind aren't exactly my benchmark for success, but hey, feel free to measure yourself by their standards if that's what you want.
velvetmason14 said:Doesn't look like it will happen. It would be a huge blow to the Mayor if a leech like this actually managed to blackmail him.

PRESSURE: The State won't back down from the legal solution

They need to explain the whole situation to the parents regarding this greedy corporation. Maybe they can go protest outside her other daycare in San Francisco or show up right at her doorstep. I bet she owns property out in the suburbs too. 🤣

Honestly, that woman should be banned from working with kids altogether. I agree she shouldn't get any concessions, but let's look at the facts: there were already about 500 kids left without spots, which means now there could be closer to 800 waiting, given how many are stuck in that piano class mess. The administration needs to step up immediately. They should've done it sooner, but now the pressure is really on. Edit: Wait, did you say you know Negotic? I can already smell the circus coming.

feralpilot0 said:It’s funny how no one seems to care that the Mayor of Miami has the exact same number of travel itineraries in 2022—even though his city budget is a tiny fraction of San Francisco's.

As for what they're for? International municipal cooperation. Unless you have actual proof that he’s just wandering through shopping malls in Seoul to run up a government credit card, I'd suggest looking at the bigger picture.

God, you are exhausting. Are we even talking about the mayor of Sarasota anymore? Because I don't care, and I definitely don't follow him. But if you're going to be like that, maybe I should ask someone at the local news station if they've actually seen any results from all this nonsense. And again—NO—I never claimed he was just hitting up shopping malls, but let's look at the facts: there are way more trips being taken than there are people actually benefiting, and out of all those ten or so expensive junkets you guys paid for, I haven't seen a single shred of evidence that this "international cooperation" thing actually accomplished anything.

velvetmason14 said:Petranovic really exposed the truth about agitator No. 3.

Let's take a look at Virginia Mudric's political machine. Their specialty? Using kids as leverage. 😉

TUESDAY: Preschool

Bit by bit, the situation surrounding one of those private preschools in San Francisco is unfolding exactly as expected. Once the Governor's office discovered they had been receiving an illegal discount on their municipal rent, they offered a new contract based on the original, fair terms. Instead of complying, the owner incited the parents to launch an offensive—which is essentially a blatant attempt at extortion.

She stays relatively quiet herself, which isn't surprising: either she lets others do her dirty work, or she avoids the spotlight to prevent people from noticing that she pulls in millions in profit every year—over a million dollars in 2021 alone, for instance.

And remember, we're talking about a private preschool operating out of public, city-owned property.

We still don't have a logical explanation for this farce. It’s simply a fifteen-year-old pattern of freeloading off public assets, a practice established back when local entrepreneurs were running the city in coalition with the Republican Party, and it just kept rolling along due to momentum.

It’s a common theme here: a "private" initiative only succeeds if it’s built on the back of the community—whether it's through hunting, land, or whatever else is shared.

Also, the Sold party uncovered some interesting numbers. Virginia receives about $550,000 annually from the city. In older currency, that would be roughly $4 million.
But it's hard for them to pay a reasonable price for the space they occupy. ☕

The City of San Francisco pays the owners of Magic Piano Preschool $46,800 every single month! Her revenues are in the millions, yet the parents are looking to the Governor's office for salvation.

Regarding the Magic Piano Preschool in the Sailor district, the monthly subsidy for 180 children amounts to approximately 46,800 dollars — according to the response from the Governor's office.

What a bottom-of-the-barrel woman. I honestly hope she folds so the parents can actually find a replacement. I can feel people panicking, and this nasty lady is totally playing that card.
Eric Adams - Mayor of San Francisco in Political Scene ·
feralpilot0 said:Who's actually enjoying seeing an old woman hounded like this? There are dozens of linked articles about her, all seemingly sponsored by the group trying to Sell San Francisco—all while the City legally and rightfully questions how she even ended up in that apartment?

Secondly, drawing parallels to an official business trip—where you have no idea who is footing the bill, though the per diem will be paid according to US Law and regulations—is nothing more than obsessing over someone else's business.

How can anyone honestly claim they don't know who's footing the bill? Seriously, explain that to me like I'm five. Justin Trudeau is a public servant, which means we’re the ones paying his salary. We have every right to know exactly where our tax dollars are going!
Eric Adams - Mayor of San Francisco in Political Scene ·
Let me add my two cents regarding Magic Piano Preschool and that shady business they're running by playing on parents' fears about childcare. If you ask me, people are pushing back because they’re genuinely stressed about where their kids are going to go, especially since there's a massive shortage of preschool spots and plenty of kids are being left without any care at all. It’s obvious they’re aiming for the Governor, because ensuring kids have access to preschool is exactly what the Governor's job is supposed to be.
