I could probably make a killing acting like a loan shark if people just rushed to pay up before they even bother to look into what's actually going on with their money.

When are we finally going to get this bot situation sorted out? It’s honestly getting a little ridiculous at this point, and I can't say I've ever run into anything quite like this on any other forum I've visited, which makes me think there might be some pretty significant security gaps in the system's setup

Richard Patel21 said:Yeah, they're popping up again. Honestly, maybe we should just ban Americans from posting here altogether because I've never really been a fan of them anyway. 😁

It's actually pretty easy to bypass a country lock; if you know how to code a simple spam bot, you can figure out how to get around stuff like that lol
Gigabit network stuck at 100 Mbps in IT Support ·
It’s possible that this Thomson device is just hard-coded to run at 100 Mbps, so you might want to dive into the settings to see if there's an option to toggle that, and while you're at it, double-check if your media player actually supports Gigabit LAN

I hear you on that, though I don't think we'll see that happening anytime soon, honestly. 🕺
What's a normal PM-to-post ratio? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Honestly, I think this is a pretty solid idea—giving more privileges to the users who actually show up and contribute regularly makes a lot of sense, though I’d probably skip over anything from the general chat threads since those usually turn into nothing but pure spam anyway.

so it's popping up on Firefox too, then

I’ve always felt this forum should be a sanctuary where privacy actually means something, because honestly, nothing kills my vibe faster than the thought of someone lurking or stalking my business—it genuinely makes me feel a little uneasy.

I’m really not much of a kid at heart, and honestly, I’m just not a big Facebook person either—I barely even touch the thing, so my profile is basically a ghost town. Because of that, I think your argument is a bit of a reach. 😳

You should really head over to the Bug forum and take a look; it gives you a pretty good idea of how we could overhaul this entire place. I honestly think implementing a rating system would be a total game-changer for certain subforums, mostly because it helps everyone find high-quality info without having to dig through a mountain of clutter. I could probably go on forever about the specifics of that, but I think we can all pretty much agree that our current setup is definitely lagging behind the times.

First off, you'd end up with a massive influx of clones, and besides, we really should just let people lurk in peace because honestly, there's plenty of fun to be had without all that extra noise—this isn't Tinder.

Though, if I'm being honest, I wouldn't mind seeing a "like" button for posts, since sometimes I just want to give someone a quick thumbs up without having to type anything out.

I actually suggested adding a "thanks" option before, but I just got laughed at by a bunch of people who clearly haven't left the 20th century yet.

Drew Sanchez82 said:''Unfortunately''? You've gotta be kidding me.
All we need now is for this whole forum to turn into a damn Facebook clone, complete with "follow" buttons and everything else.🙄

I mean, unfortunately, I'd love to see things like who's checking my profile, and that doesn't have anything to do with Facebook; certain plugins would be incredibly useful, but like I said, the people running this either don't have the technical know-how, don't have the motivation, or they're just stuck in the 90s—probably a little bit of all three, really.

I'm pretty sure there's a plugin out there for that, but honestly, this forum feels like it's been stuck in 1998, so unfortunately, I can't actually see it right now.

Personally, I find that stuff happens way less often when I'm using Firefox compared to Chrome

Seriously, just grab an adblocker already; I honestly can't wrap my head around how anyone manages to browse the web without one, haha

As for this forum, I reckon things will stay pretty much like this for a long while, especially if you look at the state of affairs in the country right now—it’s like nobody actually gives a damn about service quality when they can just focus on squeezing out every last cent while putting in the absolute bare minimum effort, typical American politics, I guess
Well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the mods think about all this spam since I'm not using the edit button 😳
you really seem to get a huge kick out of dropping those URL tags into every single one of your posts, don't you? ☕
Jose Murphy65 said:If those are really the best arguments we've got, then I guess we're all in a bit of trouble, aren't we?

It was actually settled a long time ago exactly what the issue is.

At the end of the day, there's a massive difference between just quoting some "scientists"—who, let's be honest, might just be pop-culture populists—and actually looking at how things really stand on the ground.

Honestly, I think it’s why so many of us just can't be bothered to waste our breath or energy on this, which is exactly why the whole thread has turned into nothing but a massive wall of spam links. From what I can tell, the people who actually know what they're talking about have already checked out and moved on elsewhere because, let's face it, nobody really has the patience to sit around and explain everything from scratch to everyone else.
Walter Bishop4 said:The links are there for anyone who actually wants to do some reading, so don't worry. casualharbor9 provides them just to back up his points, whereas Randy101 tends to state his opinions without much more than a couple of simple sentences. I mean, where's the actual discussion in that? It seems to me that casualharbor9 does a really great job of laying out and explaining his reasoning, and honestly, that might be exactly what’s bothering some of you.

Look, links aren't the same thing as Natural science, as someone already pointed out. I try to keep my posts short and sweet, sticking to things I've actually studied or read about; I'm certainly no expert by any stretch, but I've read enough that radiation doesn't scare me nearly as much as it seems to scare some people in this thread.

I can't help but feel like casualharbor9 is acting like he's part of some religious sect fighting against anything nuclear, and frankly, that kind of vibe just doesn't fly here.

Drew Sanchez82 said:Technically speaking, it’s not even him making the design mistakes—it's just some total tech newbie who probably thinks HTML is some kind of secret code.

Plus, he’s just being stingy about hiring a pro, so now we’re stuck with a bunch of amateurs running the site, which explains why everything looks such a mess.

Honestly, this place has turned into a total circus lately, and I think this is just more proof of that; no serious community site should have such a cluttered, off-center layout filled with these massive ads, lol
