He knew the regulations were changing in 2014, but there was no way he could have been certain Mercedes would come out on top—especially since they actually had a worse car than the year before by the end of 2012. Besides, Mercedes had already revitalized themselves by 2013 and ended up as the second-best team on the grid. Since 2013 didn't see massive shifts compared to 2012, the engine changes weren't even the main factor; Mercedes might have risen to the top regardless.

If nothing else, at least their color scheme matches the guardrails (at least in these photos).

Sebastian Vettel did 171 laps.
If there’s any silver lining for us miserable Ferrari fans, the car looks pretty reliable, though I highly doubt it has the pace to catch Mercedes. Red Bull is hovering somewhere nearby, and they definitely look closer to Mercedes than they did last season...
I really hope McLaren sorts their act together in the next three days, because at this point, it’s just getting pathetic...

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if we see times drop down toward the 1:17.5 mark. 🤔

mellowtiger83 said:Honestly, I'm kind of over this forum lately, because there’s just way too much nonsense and stupidity going on here.
...
So, I went ahead and gave you an answer on this thread too, but yeah, I guess that’s me out—that was my last post.

Honestly, I don't really care about that German driver, he’s got nothing to do with this. And frankly, I couldn't care less about Hamilton either—whether he actually lifted or not doesn't really move the needle for me. It also doesn't matter who should have been penalized for that first contact between them, if you ask me. Even though the telemetry is out there telling one story, I kind of feel like Hamilton probably should've been forced into a cool-down pit stop just to be safe, though I guess it feels like he might have lifted on purpose even if the data says otherwise. Anyway, at the end of the day, I'm just not losing any sleep over their collision or whatever fallout comes from it.
I mean, that second intentional side-swipe was just a straight-up sick move, honestly. I guess Sebastian Vettel is just proving he’s totally unhinged at this point, because that wasn't exactly a normal reaction, was it? It felt more like a total mental breakdown on the track. I mean, I've kind of gotten used to his usual antics—the constant bickering, the threats, even the middle fingers—but this? This is crossing a line into something way more concerning.
I honestly find myself wondering who exactly is looking out for him or just sucking up to him over at the FIA, because giving out a ten-second penalty for intentional lunging just makes zero sense to me. I mean, maybe they think they're being tough, but it feels totally arbitrary, I guess. Honestly, someone should probably just hand him an immediate race ban and suggest he goes see a psychiatrist for his own good, if you know what I mean.
Of course, he hasn't even bothered to apologize to anyone, and instead, he’s still sitting there acting all insulted. I mean, the guy actually goes as far as using the team radio to question what he even did and why he got penalized in the first place... just lovely behavior from a four-time champion, I guess.
Of course, the Vettel fanboys in here just refuse to look at the actual telemetry, and instead they're busy blaming Lewis Hamilton—even though, if you think about it, he was the one leading the pack and dictating the entire pace of the race. It’s kind of wild when you consider that nobody else besides Sebastian Vettel even complained, and honestly, no one else ended up rear-ending anyone just because Hamilton lifted off the throttle.
I mean, honestly, I think Lewis Hamilton was totally setting up Sebastian Vettel for Perez, and if I were in his shoes, I probably would've done the exact same thing, I guess. But then you have to wonder about the whole Vettel factor—like, what kind of driver is he really, when you consider how he just drives right into people from behind?
Total idiot, honestly... just a complete nobody who hasn't been able to find his footing since he left Red Bull Racing last year.
It’s not even just that the FIA is obviously playing favorites by handing out those ridiculous penalties, I guess... it's more like Lewis Hamilton just happened to get lucky since he’s forced into the pits anyway because his car is acting up.
I mean, I don't know, calling Lewis Hamilton a coward just because he questioned why Valtteri Bottas didn't slow down seems a bit much, I guess, though maybe there's something to it. And then you've got Sebastian Vettel, who definitely isn't a coward, even if Kimi Raikkonen has this weird habit of just mysteriously vanishing from the track whenever that German guy starts closing the gap on him.
It’s honestly pretty pathetic for the sport, and frankly, it's a disgrace on Sebastian Vettel's part too. I mean, as a decent human being, he really ought to step up and apologize to Lewis Hamilton for that intentional hit, but I guess an egoist like him, stuck in his own dark headspace, just isn't capable of doing the right thing.
During that red flag period, Lewis Hamilton was basically hunting him down in the pit lane, but of course, the German didn't even bother showing his face.
Raymond Anderson4 said:Yeah, but Valtteri Bottas kind of lost it when he clipped the curb.
I guess I'll have to rewatch it just to see if Finac junior actually messed up.
