But I don't think I've ever actually heard anyone describe a win as multilayered before... maybe it's just me.

Alright then. A little break before we head out to Spa-Francorchamps.
The losers will probably just be fighting over second place, I mean, there’s really nothing left for them to aim for when they're up against Kimi...

You know, I think you hit the nail on the head there. It’s pretty much exactly how it looks to me. If Zalons wasn't in the mix, I guess Felipe Massa might actually have a fighting chance, but without him? Yeah, he's got absolutely nothing.

Honestly, with a Ferrari that kind of beast, even Fernando Alonso would be looking like a winner...
Kimi is just the king, man

Douglas Parker61 said:So, the folks over at CBS gave you the rundown. Basically, when there’s a yellow flag, you can set a personal best, but you aren't allowed to set the fastest lap in that specific sector. It looks like Alonso lost a ton of time in the final sector—or, as they put it on CBS, he missed out on a green sector, which pretty much means he had to slow down. So, I don't see anything controversial about it. If anything, they seemed more surprised that Jenson Button didn't run into the same issue.

He slowed down just enough that he'd miss the next lap by a hundredth of a second. Otherwise, he probably would've absolutely smashed the track record. Yeah.

stormybadger8 said:So, I still haven't seen any actual news about whether Alonso gets penalized or anything, which is kind of wild if you think about it.🤷
I mean, who even is this kid, and since when was it okay to set a time for the Third Qualifying Session while there's a yellow flag out?
Button gets knocked out of the First Qualifying Session because of a yellow flag caused by a car spinning off right after the start-finish line, meanwhile Alonso just cruises through his fastest lap in the Second Qualifying Session like absolutely nothing happened.😕
Seriously, what kind of joke is this, and what on earth is the FIA even doing lately?🙄

Hah, good question. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the bureaucrats over at the Propeti headquarters come up with some incredibly creative excuse that the FIA will just rubber-stamp without a second thought.

Honestly, I’d probably hand it to him myself, just if he’d stop whining for five minutes. Such a crybaby.
Grand Prix of Japan (Indianapolis) 10/09/2011 in Formula 1 ·
Kind of a dull race, honestly, especially seeing how Sebastian Vettel started just like Michael Schumacher did back when he nearly sent his brother flying into the wall right here 😁.
I mean, at this point, what can you even expect when the championship was basically wrapped up four races ago?
Huge props to both Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso, though if the Red Bull drivers actually needed this win, the whole race would have played out totally differently. They’ve been miles ahead of everyone else since way back in 2012, so these last few races feel more like they're just going through the motions, which I guess might actually be alright for us viewers.
All in all, Sebastian Vettel just absolutely crushed the competition this year, and aside from that one hiccup in Canada, I can't really recall any major blunders from him. Seriously, hats off to him.

Heh, thinking back to how some people were whining after Canada about how Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull Racing were just cruising through everything...

Unless something absolutely insane happens to shake things up, the next few seasons pretty much belong to them.
dustyskipper77 said:Just more proof that Alonso is pure class, even without a top-tier car... a brilliant start, but you can only do so much when the machine just isn't there. Hats off to Hamilton, though; he’s fighting tooth and nail to catch a guy driving a rocket ship, but let's be real, that's not his doing...😕

It’s kind of funny, isn't it? Like, how everyone suddenly decides that if Alonso pulls off a killer start, it’s entirely his own genius at work, but the second he finishes down the order because the car is basically a glorified lawnmower, then it’s somehow just the machine's fault. I guess that's just how people wrap their heads around things, maybe.
So, wait, how are we supposed to believe that the balloon doesn't get any credit for how fast Red Bull actually is? I mean, I guess it’s easy to just point at the driver or the aero package, but maybe we're overlooking the whole setup... it's kind of wild if you think about it.
Back in the day, those die-hard Schumacher fans would swear up and down that he was the only reason Ferrari stayed at the top for so long, you know? They acted like the car didn't matter, just him. Then you had the folks claiming Alonso basically performed actual sorcery to pull off those two titles while driving that Renault, which was more of a scrappy underdog than anything else. And now, I guess we're all watching Vettel just sit there collecting wins because, well, it turns out having a lightning-fast car makes things a whole lot easier, doesn't it? Maybe it's just luck, maybe not, but it sure looks that way from where I'm sitting.

🤷

Next up is Canada, which feels very similar to Monaco, and everyone knows exactly who the main contender is. 🙂

Michael Schumacher still left a little room for Sebastian Vettel—not much, but enough, I guess. If he hadn't, it probably would've been an illegal move.

Man, you're talking nonsense here.
Alonso just pulled a total rookie move there.
He pulled the same kind of stunt back at Renault, and even during the Suzuki 2007 days, where he immediately gave the position right back.
The guy's just a bit of a wild card, you gotta accept that.

That was a hell of a race.
I mean, it’s pretty much what you expect when the legend Fernando Alonso decides to slap everyone else around while driving that red bucket they call a Ferrari. Honestly, I guess we might never know how much better things would be for Ferrari if he hadn't been dragging them along with that extra half-second per lap he was pulling out of nowhere. 😁
Major props to Mark Webber, though.
Kind of a bummer for Robert Kubica, I suppose.
Good on Vitaly Petrov, too, since he left all those total junk heaps trailing in his wake.
And shoutout to Michael Schumacher for basically making Nico Rosberg look like an amateur again.

That was such an incredible race.
I mean, I’m really just sitting here hoping we might see Robert Kubica take the win, and who knows, maybe even a podium finish for Vitaly Petrov or Adrian Sutil at some point this season... I guess it's worth dreaming about.

NASCAR in Formula 1 ·
Look, it’s not Formula 1, I get it, but if anyone actually sat down and watched—or listened to—those first three races, they probably caught on to how Michael was driving.
I was watching over on ABC earlier and the commentators were basically tripping over themselves trying to praise him... they were saying it's a total stroke of luck that he turned down that Williams offer (?) to go with NASCAR instead, because you just don't see driving like we saw this weekend every single day.

Then again... that 307 thing...
The truth is probably just that Loeb jumped the start, so that's where those 10 seconds went...
