Reddit "fun facts" and pure absurdity in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Unbelievable. I just realized there's actually a button to reply to posts. I swear I've never even noticed it until now. (Apparently, the multi-quote feature only works if you use it 😢 )

I learned two things last night. Even if it’s midnight and you’re cruising down a one-way street the right way, Mr. Sled definitely holds the advantage. It would be nice if Mr. Sled actually had at least one of his three amber beacons turned on and slowed down just a bit, rather than forcing you to slam the brakes, throw it in reverse, and peel out ten yards just to clear him. Yeah. The second thing I learned is that Reddit has a "multi-quote" button you can click to reply to several posts at once. TBH, I didn't even realize that little feature existed until yesterday. Time catches up to you, I guess. 🤦

Luckily, the multi-quote isn't working anyway, so you didn't miss much. 🙂

I feel like this forum has gone downhill ever since they started handing out penalties for trivial stuff like spam, trolling, flame wars, or off-topic posts...

It’s fine to call someone out if they cross a line, but constantly slapping people with red cards feels like punishing a toddler for being annoying. People just stop wanting to write anything here because the system is so clumsy and usually ends up being unfair.

Just look at how they handle things over on the Reddit forums.

They actually have "awards" for good, high-quality posts voted on by the community, which helps build your reputation. The goal there is to encourage quality through positive reinforcement, whereas here, the focus seems more on punishment than on rewarding anyone for actually contributing something worthwhile.

Reddit is niche. You can't compare a general interest forum like this one to specialized communities. If we tried that here on political threads, it would just turn into a war over ratings.😢
It’s funny. They ban you for trying to be a clone once another account gets flagged. Then the clone just gets an automatic permanent ban.
If you can't even get into your account, how is an admin supposed to verify it's actually yours? Just log in and update the email address to the right one.

Who do you think you are?
Why don't you all just get lost?
Go ahead, hit me with the permaban. Do it.

This forum has been a joke for ages anyway.

I’m just saying you’re lucky. And yeah, I agree this forum is a mess. My advice? Just leave, and take everyone else with you—the ones who can't even write two posts without dragging in old political grudges and nonsense.

It’s funny how we both ended up with 45 points when HE clearly deserved 500!

That’s all there is to say about the "fair" moderation over on the Belgrade diaspora pdf

'So, if anyone has anything to say, feel free to weigh in.' ☕

Consider yourself lucky I wasn't the first one to run into you. You would've been perma-banned instantly. Since you started this, you should just be glad the penalties were identical.

Maybe they handed out a penalty that was way too heavy for whatever "offense" was committed. 🤷
I’m asking because I feel like 500 points for a single sentence like the one Lyla wrote is a bit much—though that’s just my take, much like how Lyla thinks that sentence is worth 500 points.

edit: Sorry Tyler Ross86 for jumping into your thread, but we're talking about the same moderator. 😉

The mistake here was using a warning as a stepping stone to a ban instead of just issuing a direct ban for the same duration. Unfortunately, plenty of mods operate this way, even though I’d prefer they just go straight to a ban for those "last straw" moments. But really, this is more of a pedagogical error than anything serious.

Arthur Baker6 said:but then you’re just existing for no reason. Moderators usually stick together; they aren't going to turn around and call one of their own a failure.🙄

If they’re in agreement, then from an admin perspective, everything is fine by definition. It would be just as surprising if they never disagreed at all. There’s no conspiracy here.
Besides, very few users actually have issues with the mods, and I highly doubt the moderation team is always the culprit behind every problem being discussed here.

Arthur Baker6 said:but if a whole crowd starts complaining about a specific moderator who just keeps handing out bans and massive point penalties for nothing, shouldn't management actually step in and look at the facts?🤷

If the other mods aren't raising red flags, what chance does the admin have of noticing anything? Even if they did notice, the pattern here is that leadership stays out of moderation unless things get truly extreme or the rest of the team agrees it's gone too far.

The people on the ground know the vibe of this forum way better than some admin sitting in an office, so 99% of the time, we're stuck following whatever the moderators decide.

Tyler Ross86 said:No. It was obvious from all the complaints and threads criticizing her work, yet nothing ever changed. Not a single concrete response from the admins or anything suggesting they actually cared about the issue... though that part was pretty clear. Writing those complaints felt like a total waste of time.

Which subforum is more engaging, politics or religion? 😁

Keep in mind there are barely any admins compared to the massive amount of forums here. There's no way they can monitor every single thread where someone is filing a complaint. If the majority of moderators on a board agree on a penalty, what chance does an admin have of going against them?
Why was I banned from Photography? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
If it makes you feel better. You acted like you were giving me high blood pressure just so you could go mess around with options.
Just because you disagree with how things are moderated doesn't give you a free pass to cause chaos here. 😉

Ah, the blind faith in authority. As if everyone graduating from med school is suddenly qualified to manage your entire health profile, or every mechanic can fix a high-end engine, or every professor actually knows how to teach... It’s never quite that simple, is it? A degree doesn't automatically make someone a professional, with a few rare exceptions. I'm sure you know plenty of people with diplomas who aren't actually competent in their fields. There are countless doctors out there who wouldn't be trusted to take a temperature, let alone handle anything serious.

It isn't about guaranteeing 100% certainty, but surely someone who actually finished their degree has a better shot at knowing something than someone who failed out. Of course, you can teach yourself, but people in the alternative scene seem more interested in preaching than actually learning. It's like a cult. That's why people get so worked up about tik. It isn't because they're being told to drink poison—which, by the way, is true—it's because it challenges their beliefs. And people tend to act pretty irrational when you mess with their faith.

placidheron24 said:Is it actually acceptable under the rules for a moderator from one sub-forum to call users on another sub-forum idiots?
Should the official policy really be to tolerate this kind of behavior from people who are supposed to maintain objectivity and steer discussions neutrally?

As far as I know, a moderator is just an ordinary user outside their specific section. Due to technical constraints, they can't hand out warnings or bans there, but that doesn't stop them from reporting things to the admins (please don't send those kinds of messages to me) who have the power to act.

Another thing: you see this as Tik's insult, but trashing all of science and everyone working in the field is something else entirely. In other words, watch what you wish for; the moderators over there tend to give much more leeway to local types than to the crew coming down from the CDC (strangely enough, it always seemed to be the other way around at the CDC).
Why does it feel like we're just farming some mindless grind in a video game?

Sorry to let the team down, but the reason those ads stayed up is the same reason I didn't swap in a more polished skin. I found out about everything way too late, so it all became a massive rush job. I just couldn't get everything squared away in time, and honestly, going back to fix it felt pointless—especially since some of us are actually working on this.

How do I delete my account from this forum?? in Forum Help! ·
The Admin can tell you right now that it’s just not going to happen. Why bother spamming them? The rules are pretty straightforward: there’s no deleting profiles, period.
