2021 Emilia Romagna GP (Imola) | April 16-18 in Formula 1 ·
Interesting race.

Stroll is looking way better than Vettel again. 😬
Seb is basically single-handedly dismantling that whole "four consecutive championships" legend.

Hamilton was great. He messed up trying to hunt down Max too early, but the pace was definitely there.

Verstappen was solid, just like Leclerc and Norris.
Anyone got any good recommendations for a stream?
Just a casual stroll for Sebastian Vettel 😬

I’ve still got the image burned into my brain, and honestly, I don't have the energy or the time to sit through the whole race replay all over again just to prove a point...

They did, because it was decided during the pre-race meeting that no one was getting penalized.

He’d have ended up like Alexander Albon did last year in Austria.

Look, if you're holding the racing line, you've got the right of way. Unless the guy trying to dive down the inside makes a clear, decisive move, you don't owe him an inch.
Max basically paid the price for letting his emotions get the better of him and playing it too young.
Plus, Mercedes looked seriously fast on race pace. You can see it with Valtteri Bottas—he isn't exactly known for being a beast at that stage, but if it weren't for that tire issue and the extra pit stop, he probably would've been within 4 or 5 seconds of Max by the end of the race.

neonfox65 said:But he said over the radio he was running wide in that corner for the whole race. He even mentioned he didn't know the rule existed.

Look, the rule is there. Drivers get flagged if they gain a time advantage compared to laps where they actually stayed within the lines—and if that happens during a qualifying lap, that lap just gets wiped. There’s zero reason to penalize someone unless they’re actually using it to cheat the clock. Plenty of drivers have played that game to save their tires during the toughest sections of the track. It seems Max just completely forgot that was an option.

neonfox65 said:That line was just too fast, giving him an edge on every single lap.

If that were actually happening, the officials would’ve slapped him with a warning in no time. But Lewis isn't playing checkers; he’s playing chess. He took a wider arc just to baby those tires. That kind of thinking is exactly why he’s a 7xWDC.

neonfox65 said:Hamilton spent the whole race drifting off at that exact corner, and then when Max finally makes his move, the FIA steps in and tells him he has to give the spot back. It’s ridiculous. Either the FIA needs to actually be consistent from the jump, or they just need to get out of the way and let them race. This "track limits" thing is easily the dumbest rule they've ever cooked up. He didn't cut the corner to gain an advantage—he just widened his line, which is exactly what Lewis was telling his engineers over the radio all day. Honestly, the FIA is just one big 👎👎👎👎👎👎

Did Hamilton actually gain anything by going wide? If he didn't, then we're just arguing semantics. And honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Lewis and the others were playing this game on purpose—just taking a wider line to save their tires. They'd drive a lap significantly slower than the benchmark just to stay legal while keeping those rubber levels healthy.

It's way too early to start passing judgment. One bad race where he was handicapped by a penalty from the jump doesn't tell the whole story. Give him five races. If he still can't beat Lance Stroll after that, his reputation is going to take a hit he won't recover from.

ruggedhawk20 said:I honestly don't know what's going on with poor Vettel. It’s like he’s suffering from some kind of accelerated aging disorder. He looks old, drives like an old man, and carries himself like the most ancient soul on the entire grid. Even Alonso, Kimi, and Hamilton—who are all technically older than him—seem way fresher and sharper. On paper they might be older, but biologically, they look decades younger. Vettel acts like he’s already hit 50, even though he’s only in his mid-30s.

He just lost his edge. He was never one of those drivers like Alonso who can somehow drag a mediocre car into the winner's circle through sheer willpower.

We saw this coming way before the testing started. They were pretty blunt about it—they aren't planning on developing this year's car at all.

Look, I’ve been following F1 and various other motorsports for 20 years now, and I have never seen a Theft quite like this. Honestly, if my last name were Hamilton, I’d be too embarrassed to show my face.

But hey, lobbying works wonders. It was the same story back in the Schumacher days.

Anyway, I'm just glad we finally see that Red Bull Racing has a fast car and that Max Verstappen is a damn good driver.

If you ask me, the hierarchy looks like this:

Red Bull Racing > Mercedes-AMG Petronas > McLaren > Ferrari

At Imola, we’re taking back what’s ours. image

I don't get it. What do you mean, theft?

He messed up, but so did Red Bull...

Red Bull was so much faster they might have actually built a 5-second gap if Max had just stayed ahead. And then there's the other thing: Max let Lewis Hamilton through at the absolute dumbest spot possible...
He could have played it smart and let him past on the straight, or even right before the DRS detection zone, just to pop the DRS immediately after.
That was about as bad as a mistake gets...

Red Bull isn't exactly killing it on race pace, and you have to remember Mercedes has struggled a bit more in Bahrain over the last few seasons

Max Verstappen totally blew it here. When he moved back to give the spot to Lewis Hamilton, he was way too aggressive and stayed glued to Lewis Hamilton's bumper through the next sequence of turns. He ended up sliding, which I think overheated his tires, and then he just lost his pace for a lap or two—plenty of time for Lewis Hamilton to pull away. He was just too Emotional.

I won't go as far as calling it the worst movie ever made, but it’s definitely hovering somewhere in that neighborhood. It could have been so much better, especially considering they dropped $60 million on it.

It all comes down to the specific model and what you're paying, but generally speaking, those Core chips aren't exactly built for gaming. There are outliers, sure, but they're the exception, not the rule.
Switching to Windows: Where do I start? in Hardware ·
Bad move. Apple is moving toward their own CPUs, which basically means you’ll be left hanging in two or three years once they stop supporting everything else. They just dropped the first Macbook Air with an Apple CPU anyway.
If this is the absolute limit of your budget, you can find plenty of much better Windows laptops out there.

Hulk spent several seasons driving for Force India. He knows every single person on that crew, understands all the team procedures inside out, and knows everything there is to know about the car's setup—including the secrets. It went so far that the engineers at RP openly admitted his input helped their setup. 😳
Basically, they trust his feedback way more than they do Stroll's or Perez's. ☕
It’s a safe bet they had his seat and everything else custom-fitted for him since he was a long-term driver for them...

Russell practically knows nothing about the Mercedes; it's his first time ever seeing the DAS system.
That tiny bit of time he spent in testing isn't exactly "learning how the team functions during qualifying and races" or getting used to the actual procedures...

And no, I wouldn't say the Mercedes is easier to drive than the Williams...
Quite the opposite. The Mercedes is definitely much more complex and complicated when it comes to setup and handling.
The Williams is a basic model, which makes it almost certainly the simplest car possible.
If you mean the Mercedes is more comfortable to drive, then yeah, probably, because the car is more stable and likely "listens" to the driver a lot better than the Williams.
But calling it "easier" to drive? Definitely not.

What are you even rambling about?
It’s been years since Hulk was even in a Force India seat, and let's be real—this current car has absolutely nothing in common with the one he used to drive back then. On top of that, the guy basically flew straight into someone else's car right before the race started. Between that disaster and the fact that he completely botched both Free Practice and qualifying, he just hasn't found his rhythm at all.

Aside from that DAS system—which they basically only touch during the safety car periods or the installation lap anyway—there isn't any real difference between the Mercedes-Benz and the Williams. Honestly, the steering wheel is what actually feels different, and that’s where the biggest gap lies. That’s really the only part that actually demands an adjustment.
mellowtiger83 said:Excuse me? What on earth are you talking about?

Mercedes-Benz isn't a disgrace. I mean, surely you understand why the Mercedes-Benz engine was untouchable for all those years?

I'll tell you exactly why. They basically tailored the regulations to suit them before the rules were even officially finalized.

That doesn't make the engine illegal.🤷
We're going into the eighth year under these regulations—ten if you count when they actually finalized everything—and Ferrari still can't put together an engine that's both legal and competitive. Sorry, not sorry.😁
mellowtiger83 said:By that logic, Vettel could have been champion in 2017 and 2018 too, but he wasn't. Everything else is just mindless chatter.

Honestly, it’s probably for the best. Given all the drama surrounding Ferrari's engine, those titles would have been tainted by controversy anyway. They’d just be remembered as a stain on those seasons, assuming they even kept them.
