Is it just me, or does the "fear factor" in professional training actually work, or does it just burn players out faster? I've always wondered if that level of intensity is necessary to reach the top.
Nica, I'm still waiting for your decision in Feedback & Suggestions ·
rowdypanther said:It doesn't say anywhere that you *have* to follow advice—so don't go claiming this is some official Diaspora resource! ;D The Diaspora forum is just a PDF where people look for info that’s sometimes vital for their future. Your posts are just confusing and spreading misinformation, especially since you aren't backing up a single thing you say with actual arguments or links.

Correction—that was actually my own words, not a colleague's.

If forums were required to only host the absolute truth, then they wouldn't be social hubs anymore—they'd just be official government websites for people looking for verified data.

Look, the forum has plenty of sub-forums and threads specifically meant for hanging out and messing around. Even the Diaspora section has a few social threads. But the topics intended to help people navigating immigration exist so they can help, not hinder people—which is exactly what spreading misinformation does. Honestly, I don't know how else to explain this to you so you'll finally grasp basic logic.

This was written by Susan Price: Anne,

My colleague did the right thing. Her partial ban was based on an agreement between her and me.

Susan Price, you are being sneaky—you just didn't want to get your hands dirty, so you pushed your colleague Skattemus into the line of fire just to protect yourself. You're such a manipulator! 👏

By making a comment like that, you're basically admitting you've never actually worked on a team in your life.
A colleague asked me for my opinion and shared hers. Since our views aligned, she acted according to what we had agreed upon. If I had been the one to bring up the issue first, you would have been the one getting the warning or the ban from me.
Dear unknown, you were way too harsh on me in the diaspora forum in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Luckily, there are still a few of your posts hanging around on this thread that haven't been wiped yet—so the admins can take a look and decide for themselves who’s actually "lying."

Dear unknown, you were way too harsh on me in the diaspora forum in Feedback & Suggestions ·
rowdypanther,

Look, my colleague did exactly what she was supposed to do. That partial ban? That was a decision made between her and me.

The version of the story you just told—nobody knew about it because you never actually shared it. What you *did* share, and kept doing despite being told to knock it off, was just a bunch of total nonsense that doesn't hold any water. Not only were you claiming people get their Green Cards right at the airport, but you were also pointing fingers at other members, saying they were the ones spreading lies, and then you had the nerve to pick fights with everyone else too.

You were warned. You were told to stop trolling and stop spreading misinformation. But you didn't. So, why?

The diaspora relies on this forum as a PDF—a single source where people come to find info that can literally shape their entire future. Your posts just cause confusion and spread rumors without a single shred of actual evidence or a link to back up what you're saying.

I’m sorry, I really am, but as far as I'm concerned, the partial ban was totally justified.

Look, even though the author of the complaint is asking for a permanent ban, I want to make it crystal clear to everyone reading this—what was just said isn't true at all. When those kinds of comments actually happen, they get nuked by the moderators immediately.

We've fought battles against forum users who systematically targeted women with insults, and they—unsurprisingly—ended up getting partially banned here at Lowe's. We aren't stopping that now. That's how it's going to stay.

Alright, look. We’ve already agreed that we’re going to spin up a dedicated thread where people can reach out to the diaspora for help with these kinds of "projects."

We just need to hammer out some ground rules first—you know, to make sure this doesn't devolve into a mess of tiny classified ads or just endless random chatting—before we officially pull the trigger and open it.

Regarding that question Samuel Sanders6 brought up—honestly, I’m not sure what part is tripping you up. 🤷 Both myself and Emily Fowler52 have already told you that there are existing threads where you can find exactly what you're looking for; the real issue (I assume) is that you actually have to put in a little bit of legwork to find them.

And frankly, I don't see the point of your specific topic. How much better life is abroad really comes down to the individual who moved. You mentioned you're only interested in the middle class—as if you're somehow guaranteed to never end up stuck in a lower income bracket. Let's be real: most people moving to the States start from the bottom. Anyway, just do some digging. Read the thread Emily Fowler52 linked you, and maybe then you'll actually get what we're talking about.

I’ve gone ahead and locked this thread—mostly because there are a dozen other discussions happening right now that basically cover everything you asked. Honestly, we already have dedicated country-specific threads where people talk about what life is like over there, plus plenty of other topics where users compare their current lives to how things used to be back home in the States.

I feel like this question has been pretty much answered multiple times across various different threads already.

Anyway, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner!

On another note, I don't think you were even an LDS moderator when I was posting over there, so it wouldn't be fair for you to judge my track record from that period. I hope you don't take this the wrong way.

I didn't reach out to every single moderator since there are so many of you. I sent an inquiry to all the Recreation mods (wearyotter81 told me they both were contacted and said I wasn't being problematic) and to all the LDS mods (only phiber replied, saying he had been contacted and confirmed I hadn't caused any issues).
As for the Football section, I just messaged the super-mod, the edge, because there are too many people in that group to ask everyone individually. I haven't heard back from him yet.

Sure, I don't exactly have a stellar reputation.🙂 However, enough time has passed that things have cooled down. Regardless, I know I’ve never caused trouble on the main PDFs, but if anyone else here—specifically the moderators of those PDFs—has a serious issue with my work, please speak up.

🙂

No problem at all.

secondly, I don't think you were even an LDS moderator when I was posting over there,

Fair point, I wasn't. 🙂 But regarding this:

so it wouldn't be right for you to judge my writing over there. I hope you won't take it the wrong way.

I'm not so sure about that.

I get what you're trying to say—really, I do—which is exactly why I held back on my response earlier.
But, look, let's be real here: today, I AM an LDS moderator, and if I'm not feeling your vibe on the PDF, then yeah, I absolutely have the right to call out your writing style because, at the end of the day, I'm the one who's going to have to quote and moderate your posts anyway.

I hope you see where I'm coming from.

yeah, I don't exactly have a stellar reputation 🙂 but it's been a while, heads have cooled down... anyway, I know I never caused trouble on the "main" PDFs,

Sometimes time heals things, and sometimes it just doesn't. 🤷
It’s up to you to prove yourself if the rest of the team thinks it's okay to have you back.

vividranger162 said:Hey there. I was told I could reach out at the beginning of May regarding my permanent ban, so here I am. I did use a couple of alt accounts shortly after being banned, but I gave rustydrifter10 my word that I wouldn't touch them until it was actually time to request an appeal. It’s not that I was posting under someone else; it’s just that I haven't even logged into the forum for several months.

I recently sent rustydrifter10 a private message asking if she had checked with the mods regarding the 2-3 PDFs where I was most active (LDS, football, and fitness). She said she did, and apparently, nobody was in favor of lifting the ban. However, I reached out to some of the mods via PM myself, and every single one told me they had been contacted and confirmed that I hadn't been problematic. I have the screenshots of those messages to prove it.
I honestly don't know why rustydrifter10 won't let me back on the forum, especially since she's been told I'm not a troublemaker. That's really a question for her.

That thread about women's bodies in rural towns—where I picked up a few warnings—is problematic in its own right. Women there are constantly dealing with drama; I know that was the case when I was posting, and I assume nothing has changed. One female user I used to clash with was always picking fights with others, so it likely remains the same. So much for being "only" the one causing conflict. I won't deny I caused issues and acted provocatively in that specific thread. But generally speaking, the atmosphere in that section isn't great.

I'm asking for this permanent ban to be lifted. I've learned my lesson. 😉 Or, if the administration truly believes I'm going to keep causing trouble on Zionist Kitchen, feel free to leave the ban in place for the other sections. You can even keep me off Fashion Nova, though I only have about 20 posts in that PDF. Honestly, there shouldn't be a reason to keep me out.

I'd like to call on the mods from LDS, fitness, and football to speak up here and confirm whether they ever had any issues with me. To be fair, I'll admit I have one warning over in the football section (I think it was just some trolling).

Best, dedina tambura

Correction—you didn't hear from *every* single one of us.
As for me? You haven't heard from me because, look, I'm still relatively new to the mod team and I don't fully know your history yet—and let's be honest, your reputation isn't exactly glowing around here—so I was waiting for the other mods to weigh in first.

That's all from my end.
I'm just waiting on/asking the veteran mods to speak up and clarify things.

Sophia Smith29 said:You just didn't live through it. You really haven't. There’s a massive difference between reading about something in some history book and actually being there—feeling the air change, seeing the chaos unfold right in front of your eyes. It’s one thing to watch a documentary on the History Channel, but it's a whole different beast when you're standing in the middle of it all, wondering if everything is about to go sideways. Some things you just can't wrap your head around until you've been in the thick of it yourself. Trust me on this one. Mud-slinging. Just constant, bottom-of-the-barrel mud-slinging everywhere you look lately—it’s honestly exhausting. It feels like nobody actually wants to debate the merits of a policy or talk about what’s actually happening in the country anymore; instead, everyone just takes a giant bucket of filth and throws it at anyone standing in their way. It’s become this endless cycle of character assassination where the goal isn't to win an argument, but just to make sure the other person looks as disgusting as possible. I was reading this thread earlier—and don't get me started on how toxic some of these digital spaces have become—and it's the same old story. People aren't even arguing points anymore; they're just digging for dirt, or worse, making stuff up out of thin air just to score a cheap point. It reminds me of that one time back in high school when the whole football team turned on the quarterback because of some ridiculous rumor—nothing ever changes, really. It’s just different faces, same petty tactics. We used to value substance, but now? Now it's all about who can scream the loudest about someone else's flaws. It’s pathetic. I mean, seriously... what did I even do to deserve this kind of treatment just because I posted an ad? It’s actually unreal. One minute you're just trying to get something done—just being a normal person putting a notice out there—and the next, everything goes sideways. Honestly, it feels like people are just looking for any excuse to jump down someone's throat these days. It's exhausting. ZadacnicaHonestly, you have no idea—you really don't—the kind of absolute nonsense I've had to deal with from the moderators lately. It’s been constant. 🙄

Does it really—and I mean *really*—bother you that much that Zadacnica exists in the US? Seriously, out of all the massive issues we could be debating right now, you’re choosing to get hung up on Zadacnica?

By the way—just so we're clear—I’m typing this as just another person hanging out on the forum, not as a mod.

Sophia Smith29 said:He’s actually held that position before—if you can even call it that. Honestly, he didn't exactly leave a glowing impression during his first run. It wasn't exactly a "gold star" performance, if you know what I mean. ☕

If you actually think the moderation over at LJES is handled well, then maybe there's a chance Phiber's style of moderating could actually do some good for this PDF—right? Or am I totally off base here? Do you honestly think the US would handle things differently?
Karen Garcia6 said:You’re totally misreading the situation... this isn't some deep dive into self-confidence, self-awareness, or being too chicken to speak your mind...

For instance: Person A and Person B are just talking, right? Then Person A says something, and Person B completely disagrees. Instead of debating it, everything just goes dead quiet and the conversation hits a wall. j

So, I guess my question for you guys is... where do you actually draw the line when it comes to dealing with someone who just refuses to respect your perspective?

But wait, let me flip the script on you for a second. Are *you* actually respecting their side? Like, if you're standing there insisting the sky is blue and they're dead set on saying it's yellow, are you actually willing to sit back and consider their logic? Or do you just get all huffy and shut down because they aren't nodding along with everything you say?

Timothy Davis59 said:No, I’m talking about testing that one scheme I mentioned before. We comment on the selection of the new moderator, and if there aren't any serious criticisms, then the new moderator is accepted. That doesn't mean the administration will actually listen to those critiques—they probably won't—but at least we'd have a say if things get bad. On the flip side, if the feedback is positive, it might actually motivate the candidate. Looking at how many people here turn down the moderator role, this could be a decent way to encourage someone to actually step up... 🤷

I don't read much, but I think they're talking about Susan Price. My picks are Alex and Hildegard... 😁

I have no clue where you got that idea from—especially if you claim you barely even read this stuff—but no, they aren't talking about Susan Price. 🙂
Lost sense of smell after a cold? in Health ·
Douglas Booth2 said:Please forgive my clumsy phrasing and any misunderstanding on my part...
Dealing with a deviated septum and vasomotor rhinitis meant I was stuck using nasal sprays for quite some time, which unfortunately stripped away my sense of smell altogether. Once I finally underwent surgery to correct the septum, those sprays became unnecessary, and after a period of waiting, my sense of smell eventually returned to normal. It is worth noting that I had been relying on those nasal drops—and similar preparations—for months at a time, so I suspect you won't face any lasting issues with your sense of smell returning... Patience is key...

Man, I really hope so because this whole thing is starting to get on my last nerve. Seriously—it was only yesterday, after I’d already polished off half a pint of Ben & Jerry's, that I actually started tasting anything at all... 😁

However, following a corrective sinus surgery to address the underlying issues, my olfactory senses began to return to me gradually. It has been years now, and everything has finally stabilized. I suspect that things will eventually settle for you as well, though it will likely require a great deal of patience and the passage of time...
