Why can't we request a permanent ban? in Feedback & Suggestions ·

Why should I have to brew my own coffee just to browse this board? Hello? Is this my forum or yours?

If our friend @John Doe still can't grasp why forum users with suicidal ideations shouldn't be able to access euthanasia on demand, then... 🤷
How to run a second monitor via USB 3.0? in IT Support ·
$95 (41 USD) is pretty steep—at least compared to what you’d pay for some other (similar) adapters:

'your' - is that exact ('type a') USB 3 version actually what you need? (Fine, probably—you can see the shape for yourself)

and this one?

or this one (HDMI + VGA)?

'USB C/USB A'' for more options or maybe a better price—if that combo even makes sense at this point?

(Watch out for the actual USB type and the HDMI spec. Also, double-check the 'male' vs. 'female' distinction—meaning plug/socket—and the cable length if you're looking for that specific setup.
Pay attention, especially when ordering from Amazon or similar sites... for instance, the cable price might not be reflected in the main photo; they often charge extra per foot, where every additional foot bumps up the base price)

You can't demand a permanent ban. There's nothing in the rules stating we have to grant one.

A two-year ban is an option.

Or

just log off and be done with it.

Savage (a slur for Americans living across the Atlantic)
Jew (a term Turks used contemptuously for Jews)
Gypsy (a slur for Romani)
fags (a slur for homosexuals)

It doesn't matter how much offensive certain labels are today based on historical or etymological "justification."
Some were derogatory from the very beginning; others acquired that weight over time.

Steven Clark2 said:How would you explain the genocide of Jews by Nazi Germany during WWII, specifically in the concentration camps? What word would you use to describe it?

Simple enough. ☕

The Holocaust—narrow sense:
the Nazi persecution of European Jews from 1933 to 1945.

The holocaust—broad sense:
the systematic extermination of other ethnic groups (Americans, Romani), social groups (homosexuals, Jehovah's Witnesses, the mentally ill, the disabled) or political opponents (socialists, communists, liberals) in Nazi Germany and occupied Europe (1939–1945).

Wait... No. That sounds far too official.

Better this way:
The Holocaust—narrow sense:
the Nazi persecution of European Jews from 1933 to 1945.

The holocaust—broad sense:
the systematic extermination of other ethnic groups (Savages, Gypsies), social groups (fags, Jehovah's Witnesses, lunatics, cripples) or political opponents (socialists, commies, liberals) in Nazi Swabia and occupied Europe (1939–1945).

So, the term Gypsy was used back then, but isn't used now...?
And we are discussing 'back then,' not 'now.'

...
As always, I will respect the decision.

There is a difference between discussing 'the past,' and proposing, for a legitimate reason, using that specific document where the Rom were mentioned by the then-current 'official' name.

en.Wikipedia.org - Romani people
(Google Translate):
In English, the Rom are widely known by the exonym Gypsy (or Gypsies), which many Rom consider derogatory due to connotations of illegality and irregularity, as well as its historical use as a racial slur.
In many other languages, regarding related terms—such as French: Tzigane, Spanish: gitano, Italian: zingaro, and Portuguese: cigano—that perception is either minimal or non-existent.

At the first World Romani Congress in 1971, it was
unanimously voted to reject all exonyms* for the Romani people, including Gypsy because of the negative and stereotypical connotations mentioned above.

*Merriam-Webster: "exonym - a linguistic term for a place that differs from the name used within the place or country it belongs to (e.g., Vienna — Wien); exonym"

@Zoran Oštrić has apparently 'moderated' (explained) the terminology regarding Rom/Gypsy and Canadian groups.

If you had looked at the 'Linguistics' section, you would have seen an explanation of why 'nigga' isn't an American literary term, nor is it permitted in 'public spaces.' The fact that the term carries a derogatory connotation here should be irrelevant.

The same applies to the other matter—a recommendation against using that specific term because a more precise one exists.

I fail to see where you found the basis for the author's claim in this PŽK thread:
"Basically, moderator Zoran Oštrić opens the topic but then uses his authority to forbid any debate that contradicts his own views?"

You people are absolutely ridiculous.🙏

I don't post on the pandemic subforum, nor do I read it.

I’m not posting this out of spite—not that my brain isn't already a bit fried from all this.
u Reddit > The community. > The virus. > Moderator warnings and notifications.
I can't get in. I've tried everything, and honestly, I'm not sure if there's even a way left to try.

I don't bother posting on or reading that specific subforum, so regarding that controversial topic you mentioned—I only know it by its headline.

If you’re looking for advice, regulations, or bans regarding health-hazardous activities related to the pandemic, there’s plenty of it available everywhere you look—whatever your heart desires.
'Do you shop in person at all?', 'Still practicing?', 'Do you avoid physical contact?...and so on, and so forth.

But.
Any plans for tonight?

Not quite. Slow down. This isn't my answer to the question above—you’re being hilarious if you actually took it that way....

So, basically:
Don't hold your breath. You won't find anyone asking that question anywhere. It’s just as irrelevant as the one below.
Do you wear a mask when you aren't alone? And more importantly, do you actually respect social distancing guidelines?

And now, what do you think the recommended physical distance is? 11.5 centimeters?!

That wouldn't even scratch the surface of that other thread you're so obsessed with.
Maybe that’s why. In a thread like that, you wouldn't even need to Google anything to contribute. I don't know. You can explain your reasoning if you want, but I don't see any other reason for you to push for a topic like this on the subforum that's currently seeing the most traffic.

Here we go again. Can't recall if I already mentioned this.:
Solo play. You can't infect anyone. - Neither self nor others. Not particularly, especially if you actually clean up after yourself.

So, why this topic?Macho adventures. There’s nothing left to look for on this subreddit.

Robin Clark said:then why wasn't Mr. Brown's thread "seksati li štogod" moved to the "skeptical section" either...

Mr. Brown's topic@ is perfectly placed.
Not many people manage to maintain the recommended (6 feet) distance during sex.
If you're closer than that, there's a much higher chance an infected person might pass their Corona virus onto their partner.

That other thread has nothing to do with how the virus spreads. There is no reason to look for information regarding Corona enlightenment on the main 'Coronavirus' subforum.

Regardless, the 'sapunjati li mačor' thread was only temporarily moved to the 'alternative' section of the main 'Coronavirus' PDF due to current technical im/possibilities—basically, glitches.
That thread will be moved back to the 'Pets' subforum as soon as these technical hurdles are cleared.

That kind of statement. (Or just paraphrase a statement like that.) Is it even necessary? Knowing how to use it..

Those "cult classic" one-liners are almost exclusively used as inside jokes. They work best within a tight-knit circle where you can be certain everyone knows exactly what you're referencing and that the punchline won't fall flat. Not a single soul here is remotely well-read or rational. They won't take it as an insult.
