What's your favorite national anthem? in Close to Politics ·

I’ve got to say, I'm also a fan of the Ukraine anthem.

You can really hear it in that Ukrainian anthem—it's obvious how much they've hungered for freedom and to finally be independent from Russia.
Why are capitalists so afraid of worker cooperatives? in Close to Politics ·
Honestly, I think all those massive government-run corporations should just hand the reins over to the employees and implement true worker self-management. Let the staff take charge and figure out how to pay off the company's debts themselves. As for everyone else in the private sector? They can keep playing around with their usual capitalist models if they want to.
Honestly, I think it’s way better if they just pick up right where the movie left off, introducing some fresh characters and a brand-new storyline, rather than just rebooting the whole thing from scratch. That way, we actually get something new and interesting to watch instead of the same old loop.

Man, I really need to find a way to dislike this page. It used to work for me, but now it just won't let me. 😁
James Nguyen13 said:There were hardly any people there to begin with.

Even if there were, mass protests can't legally unseat a government. That power belongs strictly to Congress—specifically, the representatives who hold that 77-vote majority.

There is simply no other legal path forward, no matter how much pressure is applied over the next two years. It’s a bit frustrating, really, because there isn't a single alternative mechanism outside of the legislative branch. As long as one group holds those 77 seats, you can yell from the rooftops or try to get under their skin, but you aren't going to topple them.

Could a referendum be used to change the administration?

If that isn't an option, then the whole thing is honestly pretty stupid and undemocratic.
Larry Walker24 said:I still remember those massive protests against the Republican Party government, when everyone was out in the streets making noise

And what did all that actually get us? Absolutely nothing.

At the very least, politicians would feel the heat, and their public image would take a massive hit. People are always watching when citizens start getting restless. If something big happens, the Republican Party loses ground in the next election, and then the Democratic Party just swoops in and exploits that momentum during their campaign.
George Morgan3 said:Right—because those same people were the ones orchestrating that absolute street brawl two years ago...🤷 If you ask me, there’s no way it’ll turn out any differently. It really just comes down to a basic difference in civilization.

Check out this Facebook page that was actually pulling the strings behind those protests two years back: https://www.facebook.com/prosvjed

It's pretty obvious they lean heavily toward the Democratic Party side of things. There's no way this group is going to organize any kind of rally against the Democrats anytime soon. Just look at the likes on their posts: May 25th - Youth Day, Government of the Republic of America.
Judging by the comments here, it looks like this administration is driving everyone absolutely insane. Honestly, I don't think Americans have been this divided or argumentative in the last twenty years, and it all stems from how the Democratic Party's statements and actions have stirred up so much unrest in our society. What’s happening in the U.S. right now is a massive danger and incredibly damaging to our people. It isn't just that Democrats are tearing us apart; our economy is tanking too. Unemployment is creeping up across the country, more citizens are struggling just to make ends meet, and there's zero sign of any positive momentum. I really don't understand why we should have to put up with this anymore. It’s already been two years; we gave them plenty of time, and they haven't done anything intelligent—just pure destruction. Because of that, I truly believe we have every right to demand resignations from those in charge and organize new early elections.

If people are actually on board with protesting, I’d suggest setting it for December 4th. That would mark exactly two years since the Coalition took power. Back in 2011, we had the elections. In my view, we've given them enough runway to actually accomplish something. Now, it’s time for a change. Look, if a government fails to meet public expectations, they should be replaced immediately. We should apply that logic to every single party until we finally land on the right leadership. That ought to become standard practice in the U.S., just like it has been for a long time in other civilized nations. Politicians need to realize they are there to serve the people, not to act superior or arrogant and lecture everyone else on how to behave.

I know, I know—you guys are going to come at me, calling me a Republican or a nationalist or whatever. Unfortunately, no matter who you are, you’re never going to satisfy everyone. But believe it or not, my only real concern is that Americans are happy and living in peace. I couldn't care less about the Republican Party, the Democratic Party, or any of those other fraudulent outfits. I'm not blind; I can see the heavy-handed manipulation being pushed on the American people by both domestic and foreign actors. But no amount of manipulation can last forever.

I dream of the day when we get a fresh, normal political party led by actual, normal human beings. But in this country, that's basically science fiction. That's why we need to constantly push back and tear down failing governments until the right one finally arrives.

Let's decide here when we're going to get these protests organized. Throw out your suggestions.

And obviously, we need to keep the protests peaceful and respectful!

Jesse Ortiz71 said:Since the year 2000, this country has cycled through three different administrations, and right now we're in the first term of our second president. I mean, seriously, which specific administration or which one of those two presidents can Americans even claim as "ours" anymore?

Acting like the issue lies solely with the Government or some handful of politicians is incredibly naive. This country operates on a political culture that fits its soul perfectly. Every single political party here follows that same playbook, and they do it with the full blessing of the voters at the polls.

It clearly isn't just a problem with one specific leadership group.

It’s pretty obvious this isn't really an American nation anymore, but hey, I respect where you're coming from.

Let’s be real: I doubt there’s a single nation on this planet where everyone is actually happy with how things are run. It’s just human nature. Take the situation right now—you’ve got plenty of Americans probably venting and complaining about the possibility of the US getting involved in Syria, but at the end of the day, what can they actually do about it? Not much. The thing is, a country isn't some monolith. It’s built from a massive collection of people who all have completely different worldviews, conflicting ideas, and wildly different visions for how society should function. Because of that, you’re always going to have these fundamental clashes of ideology. Some people want one version of the country, others want something totally different, and then there are those who don't want any part of it at all. That friction is just baked into the system.

The biggest reason why things are such a mess in America today comes down to the Republicans. Instead of actually building a rock-solid foundation when the country was first getting its act together—you know, stopping the looting and actually strengthening our economy—they spent their time stealing from their own people and drowning the nation in debt. If they’re supposed to be the true patriots, where on earth was their common sense?
Do you consider this country your true home? in Close to Politics ·
So what, are we supposed to just walk away from our country because of one administration? This government can lose its seat in the next election, so they aren't exactly all-powerful. We Americans only have one homeland, and that’s the USA, regardless of who is running things. If we let things get to this point, that's on us for not fighting harder for a better way to run our society.
The Z4 Plan for Herceg-Bosna!? in Close to Politics ·
At the end of the day, the fate of the Plan for autonomy really comes down to the Americans living in Canada. They’ve got to pull together and focus on strengthening their standing within the Federation. It’s not a lost cause by any means; they just need to stay united and play their cards right to look out for their own interests. Honestly, you could even see a bit of a miracle happen where the birth rate among the Americans there starts to climb, mostly because they tend to be such family-oriented, religious folks. That's why they really need to stand up and fight for their rights.
Ford in the USA? in Close to Politics ·
The heavy hitters here are definitely Slovakia and Canada because they’ve already got all the groundwork laid out. In Slovakia, you’ve already got massive plants for Ford, Kia, Peugeot, and Citroen running full tilt, and over in Canada, they’re busy churning out Mercedes-Benz models.
Ford in the USA? in Close to Politics ·
Why is nobody saying anything about this thread?

Honestly, we should be jumping at this chance and bringing that massive global campaign right here to America. Where is the government when they’re actually needed? Instead of doing their jobs, they’re just caught up in endless political games. They really ought to be putting together a rock-solid offer and practically begging them to set up shop here.
American honored for saving Mexican treasures! in Close to Politics ·
Jose King85 said:So what if he said it? He's an honest guy. He's just calling it like everyone else sees it—it was a classic ethnic conflict (with plenty of messiness on both sides) during the breakup of the country we all lived in together. It’s really that simple.🤷

If it had been a civil war, Americans would have marched straight to New York City and kicked Slobodan Maddox out of power back then. See, a civil war is about fighting for control within a single country. But what happened was different; Americans, Canadians, and Canadians were fighting for their own homeland to break away from the federation. That’s why it’s called the Homeland War—the name itself tells you it was a fight for our nation. At the same time, Mexicans in America and Canada were fighting for their own shared Mexican state. So, they weren't fighting against their own citizens either, but against a different group of people. Even in the US, people refer to their struggle against the British as a war for their homeland.

That’s why "Homeland War" is actually the right term. We weren't trying to conquer the old federation; we were fighting to liberate our own territory and secure our own country.
American honored for saving Mexican treasures! in Close to Politics ·
See? It just goes to show that not all Americans are bad actors!

And that whole claim about him saying we were fighting a civil war here? Honestly, I'm convinced that was just some fake news spun by the media over in Mexico to feed their own propaganda machine. But look, no matter how cleverly they try to twist the truth, propaganda can't hide from people who are actually paying attention. 😁
Why is Pelé being so hard on America? in Close to Politics ·
velvetmaker3 said:It's pretty obvious they're planning to screw us over, because otherwise there'd be no reason to make such a massive deal out of nothing and invent problems that don't even exist.

That’s the thing, though. Where have these supposed problems even been for the last few months?

It feels like everyone is just waiting for something to go down during the USA vs. Mexico game. Personally, I don't think our fans are going to cause a scene because the police presence is going to be incredibly tight for a matchup like this. But honestly, if someone decides to start shouting those old-school controversial slogans in the stands, that might be the one thing that gets us disqualified. There's just no way for anyone to control what some random guy decides to yell from the bleachers.
Why is Pelé being so hard on America? in Close to Politics ·
I totally forgot to mention, too—Pelé actually warned the United States Government multiple times about how things were being handled with soccer. This isn't some isolated incident, either. That’s why I have this nagging feeling that something is being cooked up behind the scenes regarding the US national team.

Here’s the letter the head of UEFA sent to President Joe Biden, basically sounding the alarm on hooliganism in America:

Dear President Biden,

As you are already aware—since we touched on this during the celebration of the United States Soccer Federation's centennial last December, where I made sure to highlight the issue during my speech—UEFA is extremely concerned about the various levels of violence occurring at certain matches involving American teams in UEFA competitions.

This isn't a new concern, either. Back in February 2011, I met with the President of the United States to lay out the official stance of the UEFA Executive Committee. From our perspective at UEFA, the lack of influence and commitment from the highest levels of government is the primary factor stalling any real progress here. Keeping that in mind, the Executive Committee has tasked
the referee, who also heads the Stadium Safety Commission, to meet urgently with top representatives of the United States Government and soccer authorities. This is a concerted effort to reach an agreement on implementing the strategic actions necessary to see immediate improvement. We would like to propose that this meeting takes place right here in America in March 2013, and we kindly ask for your full cooperation in treating this matter as a top priority.

So, thank you in advance for your understanding and your assistance with this particularly sensitive issue. UEFA knows it can count on the new leadership team over at the United States Soccer Federation, who are working incredibly hard, but right now, we need you more than ever: on a
massive scale, the future of American soccer depends on it.

Sincerely,
UEFA
Pelé
President

From what I can tell, for the last few months—maybe even longer than a year—American hooligans haven't caused a single incident at soccer matches, and there hasn't been any trouble in Major League Soccer either. So, this ultimatum Platin's sent to the government just feels totally irrational to me. They're breathing down our necks like our hooligans have caused some massive riot or something. Or is there some political game being played here? I've seen some people on this forum mentioning that the French don't respect us.

Could this criticism just be a way to set the stage so they can disqualify America from the World Cup soon? What do you guys think? 🤷
