What a total disaster of a movie. First off, from a technical standpoint, the filmmaking is just amateurish across the board—it reminds me of those cheap British period pieces you see trying to recreate ancient Rome. Second, this isn't even close to what actual Rome looked like. Honestly, one single episode of Spartak would be ten times more valuable than this wreck. It’s such a waste of time, and frankly, seeing movies still being made with this level of quality feels like a crime against film itself.
McConaughey is a fantastic actor, but I don't think this role is one of his absolute best. I’m just not a huge fan of those "socially conscious" movies—they often feel like your typical, mid-tier tear-jerkers. That said, Jared Leto is absolutely incredible.
Someone decided to be a bit too helpful and merged my issue into a thread where it doesn't even belong. As it stands, I’m still not being automatically subscribed to threads when I type "subscribe." Just testing things out here.
pees: Looks like it actually works! We just need to figure out how to stop those email notifications from firing off for every subscription.🙂
I used to be automatically subscribed to any thread I posted in, but it doesn't seem to work that way anymore. Is this an intentional feature update or just a bug? 😬
I’m jumping on board with silentridge3 here. As a first step, I’d love to see the thread title updated so there’s absolutely no confusion: we are talking about discrimination against men.
Discrimination against men is happening all over the Western world, and America is right in line with these global trends. If you want to stop ignoring the facts, there are some really insightful books that break down exactly what’s happening in the US and how these shifts in policy will eventually impact us all:
Men on Strike> The Manipulated Man> The War Against Men> Women First, Men Last: The Feminist War Against Men and Its Devastating Consequences>
There isn't much point in beating a dead horse here. We've circled the drain discussing the religion subreddits way too many times without ever seeing any actual progress, even when people bring some really solid ideas to the table. It’s high time we just accept that this specific subreddit was essentially designed to be an antireligion space, even if they haven't officially rebranded it that way. ☕

If you're going to keep coming back to call out the mods in these philosophical discussions, please be specific and give us an actual example.😁
Is that really such a massive crime? There’s a balance between order and chaos, and a decent moderator knows how to tell the difference. Besides, this forum isn't the New York Times—you shouldn't need an iron fist to run it.
I think there are two solid reasons why we should be open to discussing incest:
- From a historical standpoint, incest was actually more socially acceptable than homosexual relationships for thousands of years. Many ancient civilizations practiced it—for instance, the Pharaohs in Egypt married their own sisters and mothers, and several European royal bloodlines followed similar patterns.
- Right here in the States, there has been ongoing debate for over three years regarding the decriminalization of incest, and it’s pretty certain that legislative changes will happen in the near future.
So, in my view, any outright bans feel excessive and arbitrary.
