Mixing tips? in Software ·
Kyle Diaz6 said:FL Studio 7 👍

Don't talk nonsense... do you even realize what FL is actually for? It's a production tool, not a mixing suite. So just hush...

If you’re looking to get into mixing music... honestly, just grab Traktor or Virtual DJ...
because all those fancy editing programs aren't going to do squat for a beginner. You need to actually learn the craft. Stick to Traktor or Virtual DJ and master them until you can do it in your sleep.

Man, screw it... why the hell wouldn't they be able to? I honestly don't get what your deal is here... seriously, I have no clue what your problem is even about...

I mean, why don't you just scour the web for some DVD converter... or maybe find a DivX tool and rip the files directly to DivX or a DVD format?

So, look, you can just try burning it directly through Windows... pop a blank CD into the drive... head over to "This PC," open up that empty disc, and just drag and drop the movie file and the subtitles right onto it. Then, you just hit that "burn" button on the side. Simple enough, right?
Torrents and Google magic are actually working...

Rebecca Jones3DJ!
Thanks for the walkthrough. Definitely picked up some new tricks here. Hopefully, I didn't screw anything up along the way.
Thanks to everyone else for jumping in too.
Let me know if everything worked out okay. Fingers crossed I don't have to retake this class.🙂

Everything looks great... see? You learned something new today.👍

Thanks for the tip. I can't really dive into this right this second, though. I've gotta finish building this one PC first, and then I have to migrate all those audio files from floppy disks over to the hard drive. My plan is to dump everything into a shared folder, one disk at a time. Do I need to compress that stuff before putting it on Dropbox?
I'll send it to your address too, just in case I mess something up on Dropbox.
I'll hit you up as soon as I'm done.

No worries... we're all here to help each other out. Who knows, right? If the total size isn't hitting 100 MB—which it definitely won't be—then I'd say just toss everything into one folder and upload it. Or just zip the whole thing up and upload that.

Edward Foster23 said:Look, I’ve never actually done this before, so who knows if I can pull it off? If you walk me through it, I’ll get it up just like you asked. Actually, why don't you just shoot me an email at vincent.zuba@gmail.com or vincent.zuba@gmail.com and I'll send it straight to you.
I'm glad someone might actually find these useful.

Man, I definitely need those fonts too... look, just head over to Dropbox.
As soon as the page loads, you'll see a blank bar with a "browse" button right next to it. Just click that, find where you saved the files on your computer, select them, and hit OK. Then, right next to the browse button, there’s an "upload" option—click that. Once the upload finishes, you'll get a link. Just copy that link and paste it here in this thread and you're golden. Seriously, give it a shot; I'd really appreciate it. If it's too much of a headache, just email it to me at bozzoDJ@hotmail.com.

Heh... my precious little Avast... it just killed the download instantly. I mean, seriously, what is this garbage doing on my computer? Heh...

So basically: Avast—oh yeah, totally fine—flagged it right in the middle of the download.

rowdytinker95 said:Sure, you could try to pull that off, but the quality would be absolute garbage. You just can't do it perfectly.

And how exactly do you plan on cleaning up or stripping away every single sound in a track except for the bass? Like, seriously? You might manage it, but you aren't getting actual bass—you're just going to end up with muddy low-end hum and some deep, hollow tones. But that’s not what he’s looking for; he wants punchy, real bass. Look, I've been messing around with music for a long time, and as a DJ, I know how this works. I work as a producer. Even with all the gear I have sitting in my studio (not trying to flex here, haha), you just can't clean a track up like that. The only way to get what he wants is through MIDI.

Look, you just can't—and I mean absolutely cannot—strip everything out of a track and leave just one isolated element. It’s physically impossible. The best you can do is try to dial back the other elements, but they're always going to bleed through. You'll still hear them. If you really want that specific sound you're chasing, here's the play: download the track as a MIDI file and grab a DAW like Ableton or Logic. Drop that MIDI into the software, strip away everything except the bassline, and then export it to an MP3 or whatever. That's it. That's the only way. MIDI is designed specifically so you can tweak and edit the individual sounds; every other format is baked together as a single unit. And I am STRESSING that this is not possible any other way. Good luck. Peace.

Honestly, I think Adobe Audition is the gold standard... plus, you can pretty easily track down a version and a key online if you know where to look. If you really need help finding something, shoot me an email and I can walk you through it.
