Jumanji: The Next Level (2019) in Movies ·
Honestly, it’s just a fun, low-stakes ride. Watching Hart and The Rock go absolutely wild as the avatars for Glover and DeVito was easily the best part. If I’m being real, they might have actually stolen the show from the guys they were playing.

I honestly didn't get the whole "copycat" vibe with him at all, but I see everyone just blathering on about it constantly... there are a million movies out there that follow that exact same formula.
Look, it wasn’t exactly groundbreaking or anything, but honestly? It was pretty solid. The action sequences actually landed for me—they had some real teeth. There was this one twist that felt a little forced, I won't lie, but hey, it caught me off guard and kept things interesting. Not bad at all.
Honestly, amidst the absolute sea of garbage that Gerard Butler has been churning out lately, he actually pulls this one off. It’s a rare win in a string of total flops.

What a joke. Honestly, that was a total six out of ten at best.

Honestly, I don't know... looks like just another unnecessary remake to me. That CGI is seriously hard to watch—it’s practically jumping off the screen in the worst way possible. People will probably still flock to see it, but if you ask me, Chucky's time has definitely passed.
What defines a "heavy" movie? in Movies ·
Movies where a dog dies or the owner kicks the bucket, leaving the poor pup all alone and heartbroken 😢
Honestly, those are the kinds of movies I just can't stomach. They’re brutal to sit through.
One just popped into my head—it's absolutely devastating, but man, it’s a masterpiece... Hachi

There was this constant buzzing coming through the speakers...
To be fair, I did manage to squeeze in three movies for $7.25, so I can't complain too much. 👍
If only I had enough points on my card to grab a student meal to go with the films...

What are you even talking about? 😁
What defines a "heavy" movie? in Movies ·
You’ve got Michael Haneke’s "Funny Games," "The Pianist" by Roman Polanski, "Salò"... I could go on forever. But honestly, calling a movie "heavy" is such a relative, loaded term. For some people, a "heavy" film is just some mindless horror flick because they can't stomach seeing blood on screen or they're generally terrified of scary movies. Then you have the other side of the coin—movies that are actually intellectually taxing, super complex to follow, or deep dives into tragic fates and stuff like that.
Everyone's got their own definition of what hits hard.
I feel like I'm just stating the obvious here, lol.😁

Linda Jackson22 said:It’s watchable. Not bad at all. I’ve always been a huge fan of Hellboy as a character, and honestly, he didn't disappoint much in this one.

You can tell right away this isn't a Del Toro film. I did dig the part near the end when those creatures burst out and start tearing people apart. 😍 Those action sequences were killer.

I agree that the cast is way too bloated. They tried to tie everyone together somehow, but there are just too many moving parts. I’m genuinely confused about whether this was supposed to be a prequel or just its own standalone thing. I mean, they have this scene where his father gets killed and we find Abea, but in Del Toro's version, the dad dies in the first movie and Abea has already been at the Institute for years while the father was still alive. It makes zero sense.

I haven't read the comics, so I had no idea he was King Arthur's descendant. To be honest, that connection felt incredibly forced in the movie—super clunky writing.

As for Hellboy himself... man, he's kind of ugly. Don't get me wrong, the mask is awesome—really detailed, lots of tight close-ups on the face—but the guy under it just doesn't work for me. It's a weird vibe when you're looking at an actor who doesn't quite fit the role, especially since I felt the exact opposite with the original Hellboy. Great mask, subpar casting.😁

All in all, it’s not a bad ride.

Actually, this movie isn't a prequel; it's a total reboot. It has nothing to do with the Del Toro duology. Think of it like how Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan both did Batman—same character, completely different universes, totally independent of each other.
If you actually like Hellboy, do yourself a favor and go read the comics. 🙂 The comics are the absolute gold standard.

Yeah, honestly, we were missing that final showdown—you know, one of those epic battles that leaves you breathless. Though, if I'm being real, I doubt even that would have saved this movie. It might have bumped it up a tiny bit, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

SPOILER!

If we're talking about how Hellboy actually came to be, they’re sticking pretty close to the original comics. He's basically King Arthur's descendant.

Man, what an absolute train wreck of a movie.
The pacing and the editing? Total disaster. They tried to cram in way too many comic book elements, but they stuffed them into two hours so poorly it’s actually painful to sit through. And don't even get me started on the soundtrack—why does every single scene need some loud, obnoxious song playing? It completely kills the mood. Honestly, Del Toro’s 2004 flick had better CGI than this total mess.
Pure, unadulterated trash...
David Harbour did alright with what he was given, I guess. But Milla? Huge thumbs down from me.
All in all, just a massive disappointment and a total bummer. 😢

Personally, I don’t drink or eat anything while I'm sitting in the theater. I just can't stand the sound of people smacking their lips, crunching away, or slurping through straws right next to my ear. It drives me insane.
For some folks, grabbing popcorn is practically a sacred ritual—part of the whole experience. I get it, really, I do. But at the same time, I wouldn't mind if they just banned food entirely and let us focus on the actual movie. I know, I know... in this day and age, that’s never going to happen. Total pipe dream, right? XD

Look, basic etiquette has to exist, at least some baseline level of decency. If you’re looking to loudly dissect a movie with your buddies, scroll through Reddit, or go absolutely ballistic throwing popcorn everywhere, then stay home. Don't go to a damn theater. Period. It doesn't need to be that tomb-like silence you're talking about, but a cinema isn't someone's living room or a lounge. Some people just want to sit there and actually watch the movie in peace.
That’s exactly why I’ve started hitting up the theater by myself more often, specifically avoiding the weekend rushes. And honestly? Half the time, even that doesn't help.
I’m part of the younger crowd, sure, but I have never—and I mean never—been one of those people who disrupts everyone else (and trust me, I’ve dealt with plenty of loud, obnoxious old folks just as much as I have with annoying kids).
I love going to the movies. It’s not just about the film; it’s a whole specific vibe and experience, which is why I hate it so much when other people ruin it for everyone else.

Honestly, Perlman was born to play Hellboy. It was absolute perfection when they cast him.
I’m holding off on any thoughts regarding Harbour until I actually sit down and watch the movie myself... but based on the early reviews hitting the internet, I should probably keep my expectations in the gutter.

Look, I didn't say it *is* one. I said it *could* be. We’ll just have to sit tight and see if the box office numbers back me up or prove me wrong.

Al Capone (2020) in Movies ·
I’m losing my grip on any kind of optimism regarding this movie. Honestly, I have a gut feeling it won't have much of a connection to the actual Al Capone at all. It's such a massive waste because Hardy is an absolute slam dunk for this role. This whole thing feels like it could be a total flop... just like Venom was.
Al Capone (2020) in Movies ·
Josh Trank? The guy behind that "masterpiece" remake of the Fantastic Four. 🤔
I don't know, man... I really want this to be good, but given who's in the director's chair, I can't help but feel a massive wave of skepticism hitting me. On the bright side, Hardy is a killer choice for Al Capone. We'll just have to wait and see how it plays out...
