Just to wrap this little saga up. I sent my drive in for repair since it’s still under warranty. Since I was left without a computer, I just popped in a cheap 120 GB SSD and waited for the replacement to arrive. To my surprise, the new one showed up in just a week. I really want to give a shout-out to Best Buy for handling everything so professionally and without any unnecessary back-and-forth. They shipped the drive overseas, I sent them a note explaining the issue along with the receipt in the box, they inspected it—you can actually track the entire service progress on their website via a link they text you—and presto, a brand new unit arrived exactly seven days after I sent the old one off.
It seems to me that we’re looking at a lost cause here; that Bad sector count has actually climbed since I snapped those screenshots above... I’ve gone through the motions of inspecting the connectors and even swapped them out, but nothing changes... I suppose I’ll attempt a full format, but frankly, I don't have high hopes for a positive outcome.
The drive is still under warranty, but apparently, the protocol requires shipping it off to a service center first, and they’ve warned me the diagnostic process could drag on for over a month... Given that timeline, I think I’ll just bite the bullet and buy a replacement now, because if they somehow "fix" this one, I'll simply end up owning two drives.😬

Is this merely some phantom alarm, or should I start hunting for deals on a new hard drive?

Well, I actually know your boyfriend—and honestly, anyone who’s met him would recognize him instantly from your description. I was just catching up with him while he was working on some repairs, and he was telling me all about his latest urge to go jump off a bridge... and looking at the calendar, it seems he’s still around for another week or so. From what I can gather, he’s been making these suicide threats for maybe five or six years now, and I believe he’s actually attempted it about fifteen times.
I’ve engaged in these incredibly long, exhausting debates with him regarding his various paranormal delusions and those theories about reptilians, but at this point, that’s just his lifestyle; I’ve simply thrown my hands up in resignation.
Someone mentioned his parents earlier... and that really is the crux of it. He has been desperate for their attention for as long as I can remember, creating this endless, exhausting cycle.
This is an incredibly difficult situation; I can't help but think a little "tough love" might actually do wonders here, though perhaps my methods are a bit too extreme for most people. 🤷🤷🤷

I find myself in complete disagreement with your assessment. One might experience such vivid hallucinations from a single joint that they actually force a person to view certain aspects of reality through an entirely different lens, which means these moments don't necessarily have to beunpleasant or negative experiences.
Just a little observation of mine; I can't help but feel that our searcher is grappling with certain moral dilemmas, perhaps torn between being the paragon of virtue from a perfectly respectable family or simply loosening the reins a bit to indulge in some imperfection every now and then. We all faced those kinds of internal conflicts toward the end of our adolescence, but sooner or later, one inevitably "gets it out of their system" in one way or another (sooner or later)
