Sudden personality changes in Psychology ·
It appears I am undergoing yet another reverse transformation; having once been the most boisterous and uninhibited presence in any social circle, I find myself gradually morphing into someone rather tranquil and contemplative...

I can only assume this signifies some form of personal evolution toward a better version of myself.😉

urbannomad12 said:Sure, that’s exactly how things would work in some flawless utopia. Instead, let me offer a little glimpse into our rather flawed reality. It was a Saturday night, and like most groups do, we were hanging out at someone's place before heading out into downtown Chicago. I happen to spot this incredibly attractive woman. I approach her, rambling on with the kind of mindless nonsense I usually avoid, driven by a singular, primal focus. She smiles back, seemingly eager for things to escalate. After a brief period of anticipation, everything moves quite rapidly—boom, boom. Only later do I realize I was completely blinded by lust and actually know absolutely nothing about her. Naturally, when we finally meet up for a proper date a few days later, the whole thing turns into an absolute train wreck.

Fast forward a month: I head out without any particular agenda or intention. Suddenly, I cross paths with the perfect woman. We both ditch our friends and spend two hours tucked away in a quiet pub, talking about everything under the sun. No games, no physical advances, just pure conversation. For those two hours, I felt as though I had known her for a year. Yet, when the moment comes to ask for her number, she tells me, "You're such a great guy, but..."

I can't help but wonder: what if I hadn't treated her like a human being, but instead focused solely on my desire to sleep with her? I am eighty percent certain it would have worked. It seems that when I am being my authentic self, I fail miserably, whereas when I am merely performing the role of a "player," I succeed. (Ladies, please believe me, it is purely an act. 🙂)

This is an incredibly common phenomenon—it’s that classic, albeit tragic, notion that "the worse you treat women, the more they fall for you."👎 It is a sad truth, but a truth nonetheless.
I absolutely loathe it when someone tries to convince me that I’ll eventually grow a taste for country music—it honestly irritates me to the point where I feel like knocking a few of their front teeth out. 🙂
By what logic can anyone possibly conclude what my future musical preferences will be??? It makes zero sense to me. 😕
People who act like such know-it-alls clearly have a massive middle finger to offer. 🙂
arna said:While I realize taste is subjective and everyone should be free to listen to whatever they desire, the real issue with this mainstream trash—this overproduced, low-brow pop junk—is the way it stirs up such primal, base instincts in people. It inevitably leads to broken glassware, total debauchery, a complete loss of inhibition, and quite often spirals into outright aggression and senseless brawls.

It’s incredibly grating when fans of this music act as if the entire neighborhood is obligated to endure their playlist at deafening volumes, which really just highlights their utter lack of consideration for others. You never see someone blasting Beethoven or Bach from their car, nor even Deep Purple or Metallica.

If they kept it to themselves, one could hardly complain, given that we aren't all operating on the exact same cultural or intellectual wavelength. But when they adopt this "scorched earth" policy where they essentially force their chaos onto everyone else, it naturally triggers a visceral resistance from anyone who prefers a more refined atmosphere.

You hit the nail on the head 👍

absolutely spot on from start to finish 😉
It seems every man is determined to sing his own praises and nothing more, which effectively renders this entire debate a lost cause—everyone is far too busy clinging to their own narrow perspectives to actually digest what anyone else is saying, and then, predictably, three or four people swoop in to bicker amongst themselves like hens in a coop, utterly dismantling whatever shred of meaningful discussion we were attempting to build

How pathetic; this particular brand of psychology is starting to feel a little too much like a gossip column in a suburban women's magazine🙂
Anthony Rodriguez58 said:They are essentially just bragging about their own prejudices.

And really, why on earth should I feel any sense of shame for disliking folk music or simply having no affinity for those who find it appealing?😕 😕

Please, you cannot make me laugh with such nonsense.

The fact that you take offense at my posts and those of Ziggy Stardust, yet simultaneously bow down to us over at Just For Fun, suggests to me that you actually enjoy that kind of music quite a bit—but frankly, that is your business; do whatever you wish, but there is absolutely no reason to pretend otherwise.

I am perfectly content with my biases, whereas you seem to enjoy your folk tunes while remaining perpetually unsure if you should even admit to it.😕 😘

🤣

Megan Gray7 said:Mmm... I truly dislike it when someone disparages any genre of music... personally, I find myself in coffee shops where they play folk music, but only because I have no other choice. It is a small town and there aren't many "normal" venues for pop or rock, especially where people actually go to dance. The main reason I end up there is because most of the men are looking to flirt and dance. The lyrics themselves aren't anything special, though there are a few decent songs. I much prefer rock music. :-)

I find myself in those same folk clubs as well—entirely by necessity—because ninety percent of my social circle listens to it, so what am I supposed to do? I go along with them, we share a drink, we talk about women, but I would never dream of letting that stuff play in my own home or my car.👎

Occasionally, when the group is feeling generous, we might venture somewhere that actually suits my tastes.🙂 🙏 🙏 🙏
Good grief.
Jacob Long said:First of all, you don't argue about taste...

Furthermore, based on your post, one might conclude that you view your own girlfriend as nothing more than a heavy-set caricature...

As for everything else you wrote regarding your interpretation of the average country music listener's profile—it is utter nonsense, and frankly, it’s a disgrace that you haven't been banned for such discriminatory claims... I truly cannot believe what I am reading...
...look, I listen to country music, I hold a Bachelor's degree, I am fluent in both English and German, and I have some proficiency in Italian and Spanish (having completed my first level of study), and I work in my actual field of expertise. I've traveled through Spain, Italy, France, and Germany... I plan to pursue further education, and I was quite the academic powerhouse in high school... winning competitions... and at university too... and so on... and now you're going to tell me that I don't understand the lyrics of an English song as if they contain deep philosophy... To be more specific, I also listen to international music, pop divas, B. Adams🙂 , Shania Twain, Bon Jovi🙂 , and so on... and I find something appealing in every genre... When I'm cleaning the house, I blast country music and let loose... I dance a little belly dance, get all worked up, and practice a little striptease for my man... Every now and then we go out into the city where they play pop and rock, and sometimes to those spots where they play country, and all those places offer something, each in its own way....

IN YOUR INITIAL POST, YOU DIDN'T ACTUALLY SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO LISTEN TO COUNTRY MUSIC; INSTEAD, YOU SPOKE ONLY OF YOURSELF—HOW INTOLERANT A PERSON YOU ARE, HOW YOU DRAW UNSUBSTANTIATED CONCLUSIONS, AND HOW YOU FEEL CAPABLE OF JUDGING A HUMAN BEING'S INTELLIGENCE, UPBRINGING, AND CHARACTER BASED SOLELY ON THEIR MUSICAL PREFERENCES. IT IS PATHETIC, UTTERLY PATHETIC.🙄
You're playing the part of someone who is pro-Western... when in reality, you are miles away from any modern worldview and are simply brimming with prejudice...🙂 🤮

Oh, darling, this suspicious rambling you've provided above is hardly high quality... It isn't clear to me whether you wrote all of that to make a point or if you were simply attempting to show off your "inexhaustible" intelligence and condescension... I mean, really... you certainly made your perceived brilliance known immediately (intelligent, perhaps, but certainly not wise, hah 🤔)
I completely agree with the thread starter—the moment I see someone tearing country music to shreds, I don't exactly feel any positive sentiments toward them.

And yes, please, do enlighten me with a lesson and throw in a few anecdotes from all those countries (I trust there must be over a hundred) that you've visited. And please, if you can... how do you say in Thai, "where did I leave my BMW keys?" 😛
rowdydriver18 said:Well, look, before you all collectively decide to bash folk music, perhaps you might consider educating yourselves slightly on what we actually mean by these "so-called" genres. To begin with, there are traditional folk songs, then there's country-pop, and finally, there is turbo-folk. Country-pop is more akin to those upbeat, catchy anthems you could sing along to all night long without end. Traditional folk, however, features artists like Safet Isović or Haris Džinović—musicians who actually write quality songs; even if the dramatic flair in a track like "My Paths Have Overgrown" might irritate some of you, the lyrics are undeniably excellent. Then, of course, there is turbo-folk, which personally doesn't appeal to me much either, similar to tracks like "On Force" by DJ Jogani.

Furthermore, one should view tongue-in-cheek tracks like "The Whole Village is My Sweetheart" or certain irreverent numbers from Braco as mere jokes; the whole point is that the authors are having a laugh, which stands in stark contrast to those utterly mindless turbo-folk tracks.

I trust this provides a sufficiently exhaustive overview for your needs.

And let's not forget the disco hits.
You seem to have conveniently omitted those from your deeply exhaustive, scientifically grounded treatise, which I assume was peer-reviewed and approved by the world's leading institutions of folk and various other musical genres.😈
My entire hometown heads straight to the local honky-tonk, where everyone loses their minds over those classic country ballads that somehow manage to describe every single person's life story; "the whole town's sniffing white lightning..." 🙂 "

wanderingdrifter46 said:these roles are just things imposed by time or whatever... and what on earth does that have to do with intelligence?
you’re essentially sharing that role with millions of others, simply adhering to pre-established social norms...

where is the actual self-fulfillment in that—that sense of bohemian audacity required to step forward, solely because you've allowed yourself to be camouflaged by the artificial constraints placed upon your own intellect?

I fail to grasp why you insist on constantly countering William Gonzalez3 with arguments that aren't particularly brilliant to begin with... I have no desire to bicker or attempt to prove the unprovable, but I truly believe this discussion should aim toward some semblance of a conclusion rather than circling the drain while trying to convince individuals who are perpetually tripping over their own baseless assertions.

if you find yourself unable to comprehend what a person is actually attempting to convey, perhaps try reading what they wrote twice (or even three times, if necessary).

your logic is frankly all over the place.

no offense intended😉

It is truly a lamentable state of affairs when everyone operates under the delusion of their own brilliance, whereas in reality, true intellect is a vanishingly rare commodity 👎

What do Americans think about Russians? in Miscellaneous ·
Russia remains such a quintessential symbol of raw power, and I must admit, I’ve often harbored a quiet desire to travel over there just once to witness its scale firsthand.

As for the Russians, they are simply the absolute best at everything. 🙏 🙏

I find it utterly difficult to wrap my head around the fact that, in this glorious 21st century, there are actually individuals under the age of 25 who still cling to a belief in God or the Devil

Honestly, people—none of that stuff actually exists. It is just us, plain and simple, and if you find yourself in a bind, neither a deity nor some horned entity is going to step in to lend a hand

Jose Chase2 said:It isn't quite that I believe he has the power to dismantle someone's faith, per se; rather, I am simply attempting to draw a line in the sand regarding Satanism. I harbor a profound, soul-deep contempt for anyone who aligns themselves with Satanic ideologies, and frankly, I believe they should be barred from accessing mainstream media altogether. In my view, freedom of speech reaches its limit when we start entertaining Satanism. Period. It would be a massive mistake if he continued his crusade against the Church while simultaneously flirting with such dark themes.

True, though the real irony lies in the fact that Satanism itself is essentially a construct fabricated by the Church—as if to say, "if you don't believe in God, then Satan will come for you." This is precisely how little children and certain "types" of people are kept in a state of perpetual fear.🙂

Furthermore, if one were to actually believe in Satan, wouldn't that necessitate a belief in the Bible, given that the Bible is the very thing that invented the concept of Satan in the first place? Therefore, all these Satanists are essentially just pretenders, playing parts and fighting against the very essence of what they claim to represent... it's all quite circular, really.

Just some food for thought, 😁

In my estimation, marijuana doesn't even qualify as a drug because, quite simply,........, because it’s the law!!!! 😁

Would you be an organ donor? in Miscellaneous ·
Of course they would—in my estimation, those individuals who refuse to provide even the most basic level of honesty when it is actually required 🙂—would be weeping like toddlers if the situation were reversed, yet the moment someone else needs support, they suddenly become completely indifferent. 👎 🙂
