mellowranger16 said:So, what’s the verdict from these ladies? 🍿

I mean, they saw the whole thing—me standing there visibly pregnant, looking like I was about to pop, and the guy just let me right through. To make matters worse, I’ve got two items in my hands and two full carts following me like lost puppies, and all I get is this judgmental side-eye from these ladies. 🙂 And the cashier? Moving at the speed of a tectonic plate!
That’s why I stick to the local corner bodega. Nobody acts like they’re too good for you there. It’s not like I expect everyone to cut the line for me every single time—honestly, half the time I don't even take it when someone does—but I just can't deal with these old ladies acting all high and mighty.
Man, dealing with people at a Target. As customers. It’s a whole different breed of thick-skinned jerks, honestly. That's why I don't bother going there anymore.
Dana Brown8 said:Good for you. How did she react? 😁

By the way, regarding Gastal and heartburn—it seems I have some incredibly resilient acid reflux because nothing helped me during my first pregnancy, either. Back then, the heartburn vanished the exact moment I gave birth. I suffered through it starting around week 20.
I really thought I might be spared this time around.

Same here... I'm two months out from my due date now and it seems to have dialed back a bit. 🤷But during my last one... You hit the nail on the head; it disappeared the moment I delivered. That last month was absolutely brutal.
And don't even get me started on store mirrors. They drive me crazy. I catch a glimpse of myself looking all "radiant" and I swear, I have a mini heart attack every single time because of how huge I look. 😲
Sam Baker6 said:Unfortunately, baking soda just acts as a neutralizer (I usually take it when the heartburn gets unbearable; I used to do it more often, but I’m being much more careful now that I'm pregnant, only when it's truly impossible to endure)... I had really hoped those tablets would be the solution for this fluid buildup without that constant burning sensation... -.-

And yeah, cutting back on food in the evening might help. 😁

I honestly wouldn't count on that. I think those are strictly for heartburn. 🤷
Sam Baker6 said:Does this also work for cases that aren't your typical heartburn? I mean, when there isn't really a burning sensation, but more of that feeling where liquid seems to be bubbling up into your throat... almost like you're about to gag?🙂

Just try some baking soda. If it actually works for you, you'll know. Mostly, those pills should help neutralize the acid a bit.
Dana Brown8 said:I'm 25 now, and the acid reflux has officially arrived. Every single day. Great.
If I eat even a little too much for dinner, I can’t sleep because everything feels stuck in my throat, like I’m about to throw up. But if I don't eat enough, I still can't get any rest; I'll drift off only to wake up at 3:00 AM for a bathroom break, and then I'm just staring at the ceiling until 5:00.
Just wonderful. Ha!

Renny, try some lozenges or just dissolve half a teaspoon of baking soda in some water. Don't overthink it—baking soda in water doesn't even taste like anything.
Look, if heaven forbid the baby comes early, you just pick up some mid-tier sedan or whatever and deal with it later. I get the logic behind everything, really, I do, but acting like we need to go into full panic mode—as if she’s out there hiking the Rocky Mountains on foot or something—is just 🙄.
Jeremy Thomas5, I’m actually about to tear up here. Of course they’re freaking out. It’s totally normal. My folks practically tried to pay for a chauffeur when I told them I was driving myself around town. It was constant 🙂, but honestly? I don't give a damn. 🤷 Once my husband finally said "enough is enough," I just hung my keys up on a hook and now everyone else is breathing down my neck. 😳 Look, we just do what we agree on. Period. Other people can talk all they want. Take my father-in-law, for example. He had this one massive, stubborn vision for our wedding that would have completely hijacked the whole thing. He refused to budge. So, we gave him an answer: fine, if you don't like it, you don't have to come. And just like that—peace and quiet. Now he’s barely even in the picture.

But I am not shifting my plans just because someone starts whining. Let it all go south for all I care. Good grief, you just get in the car and drive. It’s not like you’re going to be pushing him down the street manually. 🤦
🤦 Honestly, being around you guys makes me feel like such a terrible daughter... Not a terrible daughter-in-law, though, because my mother-in-law is great—she stays out of my business entirely. But when it comes to my own folks? Yeah, I tell them to back off without a second thought. (Sorry for the language, I’m just a bit worked up about all this meddling).
Look, fine, if they think they have some sage advice to offer, let them talk. I always end up doing things my way regardless. That’s just how I am, and frankly, sometimes I don't even care when my brother starts lecturing me, but now my mom is acting all hurt. So what? She's upset because I told her I don't need her playing nanny here after the baby arrives; I'd rather she just come over as a guest for coffee once in a while. What am I supposed to do? Just cave and stress myself out just so someone else—even my own mother—can feel better? There is zero chance of that happening. You never win by constantly catering to everyone else. My priority is making sure my husband and I are happy, and that's it. No one else's feelings are going to dictate our lives.
Jeremy Thomas5 said:Taylor Perez, Nicholas Gonzalez2, please forgive me, but I honestly can't even process your concerns right now because I am just so incredibly frustrated. I feel like such an idiot—what was I thinking, planning a trip to the beach in Santa Monica right now? 😵 😵 😕
The best they can do is ask: "But what if you end up having a baby there?"
And what am I supposed to say? I don't know... thank you all for encouraging me to head to the coast, I guess? *Sigh.* In the end, we won't be going at all. 🙂 🙂 I'm just feeling so exhausted... and angry... all at once.

What if something happens to me? What if I give birth there? 🙂 I truly have no idea how to answer such ridiculous, senseless questions.

Jesus, what if you give birth by the ocean... Is the kid gonna be born with fins instead of feet or something? I don't get it. You just check the GPS for the nearest hospital and call it a day. Do women in Santa Monica not have babies or what? It really gets under my skin when people are this unintentionally stupid and indecisive—especially when their stupidity reaches a level where it actually ruins someone else's plans. 🤦
It drives me absolutely nuts that I can't just manifest a baby through sheer willpower. ☕
They apologized, said they’d take action, and basically begged me to keep using their service. And 🙂 I think I still have that email buried somewhere...

...honestly, this whole thing just sent my blood pressure through the roof! Back when I was first pregnant, I was absolutely craving sour milk, you know? Like, obsessed. And she used to go out and buy this raw milk from a local farmer and put it in jars to ferment for me...but man, I guess I learned my lesson, because after reading all those scary stories about fake Listeria outbreaks, I totally stopped drinking it. But then, she goes ahead and buys three more gallons and puts them in two big jars anyway! I told her straight up, "Look, I am not touching that anymore, please just leave me alone, I don't need any Listeria in my life..." That was back on Friday...and then she headed off to Canada...and we followed her over the weekend since it was the anniversary of my father-in-law's uncle passing away. Well, today I’m looking at that milk...the cream that had risen to the top has thickened up weirdly, and there are these little spots of red, pink, green, and black...it looks like a freaking rainbow. Translation: bacteria!!! 😲😲 'So there's three gallons of milk sitting there....so I just tossed it...👍 ...and then she calls me up...."Hey, honey, grab that milk from downstairs and use it to make some burek or mashed potatoes!" and I was like, "No way, it went bad, I threw it out..." Oh my god.....she goes, "Why?! Seriously, it doesn't matter if it's spoiled, that's just how it is! You shouldn't have done that, what a waste...!!!" 😱 😠

...yeah, sure, I should have just swallowed it and poisoned myself, my baby, and my husband just so she wouldn't feel like she wasted a few bucks $6.75!!! ...yeah...of course... 🙏🙏 🙄

My mother is exactly the same way... "It's nothing" is practically tattooed on her face when she says stuff like that. For Easter, she made this cake I absolutely love, but she bought the eggs a week early and left them in the pantry instead of the fridge, thinking it was "cool enough." Yeah, right. Outside temperatures were hitting 80 degrees, and I guarantee that pantry was at least 40. 🙄
Naturally, I didn't touch the cake or the eggs.

Anthony Watson35 said:Look, if your $6.75 goes bad, that's a way bigger deal. Every woman knows that—just ask my mother-in-law. 😳
And it doesn't even mean it's spoiled; even stuff at the grocery store has an expiration date, but that doesn't mean it's actually rotten later on...

I sent an email to the local transit authority. I know it's probably pointless... but I'm still shaking from how pissed off I got...

I emailed them too, and they actually replied. A driver once just let passengers off, slammed the doors, and drove away. We were just standing there at the station like idiots...what a total moron, I have no idea who they hire.
Dammit. My mom called me yesterday. And I didn't even wish her a happy Mother's Day. Completely slipped my mind. image
neonsurfer32 said:It’s driving me crazy, feeling this pathetic and miserable... I can't seem to help myself, and I have no clue how to snap out of it. I just can't stop crying.

Dammit! 🙂 Look, just let it all out. Honestly, cry until you're done; it usually makes me feel better once the storm passes. The only downside is looking like a complete wreck afterward—I get so swollen and red that I don't even look human for a good two days. image
What a massive pile of absolute nonsense... 🙄 The only people who could possibly look at kids born out of wedlock any differently are some folks living in rural West Virginia, probably over 75, who still think they need to hand over a tenth of their paycheck to the local church. But honestly, it’s the way everyone feels entitled to chime in and comment on every single kid's business—it drives me absolutely insane! 😠 How do they not feel any shame!
Man, I wouldn't want to be in your shoes. Honestly, I’d probably lose my mind after being brainwashed like that. Thank God we don't live around here. 🙂
It's a total disaster. Trying to juggle all that every single day... I don't know how anyone does it, seriously.
😂 Just finished some reading! Honestly, I feel like I might just pass out right here, and I haven't even done anything wrong, poor thing! But hey, better safe than sorry!

But man, there is one person who is seriously getting on my nerves. Look, for example—I’m due to give birth in maybe 20 days tops. And my husband just had his birthday. We ended up traveling back to where we grew up so he could celebrate with his friends, because let's be real, those people wouldn't bother driving to Washington, D.C. unless they needed a favor. Whatever. And then there's the godmother's wife—she doesn't just ignore us once in a while, she's constantly blowing us off. She’s always "sick" whenever we try to grab coffee or something. Of course, she didn't show up for the birthday either, and then the godfather has the nerve to drop this hint that we should call them the very next day after lunch to go get coffee... 😕😕😕 Seriously, get lost, you rude piece of work! 😠
Whenever we try to organize a get-together, she acts like a total pain. Then she expects me to be the one to reach out in front of the whole family to grab coffee just because she was "tired" last night??? Please. The woman doesn't even have a job... My own godmother worked from sunrise until 10 PM the day before, and she still showed up that day. Get outta here!
Naturally, we didn't call because I was dealing with some pains and just wanted to head home. I made sure to let everyone down there know, including my parents, that I wasn't coming back until they came to see me. 😳
Adam Evans62, I totally get where you're coming from. It’s not even about being lazy—though people love to throw that around—it’s just that we always thought, "Hey, we'll get there when we get there." But then suddenly, everything just feels exhausting. And let's be real, you can't just zip into Target, grab a cart, and call it a day. You need to browse, compare brands, maybe order something online if you can't find it in stock... So, honestly? I don't think it's too early at all.
We ended up buying ours around week 33—I think, anyway, my memory isn't perfect—and by then, I was ready to burst into tears just thinking about having to drive anywhere. 🙄

🙂
Don't let anyone get in your head and don't back down! Times have changed... My family gave me the same old speech, asking why I even needed a stroller and suggesting my godparents could just pick one out for the baby shower... Whatever. We bought absolutely everything ourselves. Luckily, my husband and I are on the exact same page, so I didn't have to fight him on it. I just didn't want to be stuck in a position where I'm waiting around for someone else to bring me what I actually need.
Robert Johnson6 said:Honestly? I'll take my own mother over a mother-in-law any day of the week. At least with Mom, you can actually stand up for yourself and talk back. With a mother-in-law? You just have to sit there and play nice while she smiles through her teeth.😂

Ugh, please. My mother-in-law is actually an absolute dream. All she said was, "If you need anything, I'm here for you." That was it. Simple. But my own mother... honestly, if God wasn't watching over me, she'd probably be standing in my living room right now without even knocking.
And then there's this pushy woman acting like she's going to come visit me in the hospital. It's not like anyone visits me in the hospital anyway, except for my husband. Plus, they live like two hours outside of Washington, D.C., so driving all the way into D.C. is a massive hassle for them... So I told her, look, you might as well just come by our place in the suburbs since you haven't even visited us there yet. But no, she's convinced it'll be the highlight of her life to sit in some sterile hospital room. image
