Don't wash your hair during your period?!? WTF in Women's Health ·
Sophia White74 said:Just for context—during a typical week-long period, a woman loses about a teaspoon of actual blood, plus some mucus and bits of uterine lining and vaginal cells.

Please don't rub salt in the wound!
I almost lost my best friend at the beach last summer because she had the nerve to tell me she only needs half a pack of Tampax a month and wondered why I was acting like it was such a big deal for two and a half days.
Honestly, if I didn't have such a curvy figure, I'd probably just be wearing diapers!

Rachel Brooks63 said:jadesailor14 will be along shortly to explain that whole theory about shower habits, then it'll all make sense to you! 🤣 🤣
(yeah, I know I'm totally off-topic 😢 oops 😢 )

here I am 😁

My neighbor (who actually showed up to protest because the sound of running water in the tub bothers her!) claims that only certain types of women need daily showers, while a "respectable lady" only needs to wash up on Saturdays. 🙂
Trust me, you don't want to hear my rant about that one. 🙈

Anyway, this topic is absolutely genius—I'm so bummed I didn't start it sooner!
Seriously though, what are you guys even saying? Some of you asking how people don't wash? If I didn't shower, I’d probably spend the first four days just sitting on the toilet using the bidet spray instead! 🙄
During those days, I go through five or six packs of overnight pads a day, so if I wasn't staying clean, I'd basically have a crowd of local guys hanging out on my front porch waiting for me.
I guess that's why they tell that joke about the guy at the fish market! 😬

And regarding jumping straight back into bed—unless it's one of those rare extreme cases—staying active and moving moderately really helps manage the pain.
It's just common sense; it's not like we're incapacitated or anything!
Someone mentioned just popping two Advil 👍 and powering through, like nobody's even asking if you're actually feeling up to it.

Everything works perfectly when he uses it!
But if he skips applying it right after shaving, his skin flares up immediately with those annoying red bumps.
He has to shave every single day—back when he was working, he actually had to do it twice a day just to stay ahead. If he misses even one day, his skin is a total mess the next morning. Taking a "rest day" from shaving definitely doesn't work for him.

My dad has been sticking to the same routine for over 50 years now 😁 using a 3% salicylic acid solution he grabs from the local drugstore
It’s funny how much the beauty industry has changed over the decades (which is a pretty long time, right? 😁). They launch all these "miracle" products that promise the world, but after a few hours, you just end up looking like a teenager with a breakout again, so he always goes right back to his trusty alcohol-based formula

The thing is, this specific formula doesn't sting like pure alcohol would. If you give it a shot, I bet it won't even bother you, and if it does, it's definitely not breaking the bank

I wouldn't have mentioned that he shouldn't be doing 100 sit-ups every single night without protecting his lower back, like everyone else is telling him to do... I was just offering what I honestly think is the best advice for a kid his age. And who knows his psychomotor skills and personality better than his PE teacher? Someone who could actually point him toward a sport that fits him—or one he actually wants to play—by talking to him directly, maybe even keeping an eye on his interests during class...

That would be the logical way to handle it, but unfortunately, a lot of people just don't seem to care

What does his pediatrician say about where he sits on the growth chart? 🙂 😎

It’s a shame we're seeing this at thirteen nowadays... it all starts out looking innocent, just a little extra weight around the waist. Type 2 diabetes used to be called "adult-onset," but now we're seeing it in kids constantly... 😢

Cardio exercises.
Vegetables with every meal.
Lean proteins (chicken, fish, dairy products
).
Whole grains.

At 5'5" and 123 lbs, that puts my BMI right at 20.6! I just can't get over how much I love this! It’s such a great vibe.
They're only 13! Someone here said it perfectly earlier—it’s just a phase of puberty that they'll grow right out of as they mature.

You’ve been on this forum forever! Based on your writing style, I’d bet you’re actually a few years older than me, and honestly, your advice is the gold standard for this whole thread. 🙄
Does a guy really need to drop 10 pounds overnight? Honestly, if it means he’s going to wreck his health and end up seriously ill, I don't think it's worth it. I'd much rather see him have a little extra cushion around the waist—it's totally normal for someone his age!
Holy cow! 🙄🙄🙄

Nick didn't say don't do 100 sit-ups. If you actually paid attention to what was being said, you'd see I'm not talking about the sheer number of reps... look, you have to train the antagonists too—doesn't matter if it's today or tomorrow, but there needs to be some balance—otherwise, you end up with postural deformities. You guys were doing plenty of other exercises that involve the back muscles, not just hitting 100 sit-ups every single night like he’s being advised... and the kid doesn't realize it's common sense to include those too.... "Coincidentally," I know a thing or two about kinesiology from both a professional standpoint and life experience... and wouldn't you know it, I actually work with kids aged 6 to 14, including a group with special needs 🙄

I'll leave it at that. Go ahead, kid, keep doing those 100 sit-ups without any back work, and in a year you'll be walking around with cramped abs and an overextended back well there's your deformity... (which advice 😵)

Have a nice day, and goodbye 👍 no offense intended

Well, if you're such an expert, why aren't you giving the kid any actual advice? 😕
Why just sit there acting all superior like something terrible is about to happen 🤔

GO SEE A DOCTOR

there isn't really any other way
all you can do here is sit around and worry about your fate, alas
if you're actually dealing with a health issue, this forum isn't going to cure you

you really need someone to get you to a clinic
otherwise, you'll probably just panic and freeze up, and then you'll likely forget to tell the doctor half the things you're feeling—and if you don't give them the full picture, they won't be able to help you much at all!

brisklynx13 said:So, here’s my take on what happened with Smith and Huber.

Back when I saw Smith about five years ago, I was mostly sipping on this tea—honestly, it was fantastic for digestion and acting as a diuretic—and sticking to fruit in the mornings, lunch mid-day, and then meat or fish with veggies for dinner. Basically, kept the glycemic index pretty low.
I managed to drop 4 pounds in 40 days... but then I lost my job two months later, so obviously, I stopped going.

Then there was Huber last year. I went for two months and lost 10 pounds. Of course, I gained 7 of them back within two months.
I was heading in about six times a month for $17. I wasn't starving; I was eating meat, cheese, vegetables, salads, just a little fruit...
Since it was vacation season, she actually suggested I try a single pill of Prozac—which isn't addictive, mind you—just to help me get through those two weeks without the need for acupuncture. And honestly? It really helped. Now, I suspect there might be some "off-the-books" stuff going on, but look, nobody is forcing you to walk through those doors.
The food portions aren't strictly regulated, and you don't *have* to take the pills if you don't want to. She didn't even give them to me directly; she just told me to go talk to my primary care physician. When I explained the situation to my doctor, she gave me exactly one box to cover that period.
I’m not crazy enough to sit there popping those things for months on end...
I did like the doctor, though. She had stories about people losing 90 pounds in a single year and whatnot.
Of course, plenty of people end up right back where they started once the weight creeps back on. She admitted herself that it's impossible to eat nothing but meat and vegetables for the rest of your life. But when those first couple of pounds come back, going back for a session of acupuncture can help stimulate things and maybe dull the appetite a bit.
I have no strong feelings either way on acupuncture.
These days, I’m just hitting the gym in the zone, and I’m happy with it.
Good luck to everyone.👍

I’m feeling so scatterbrained today! 🙄
I totally forgot to mention

I know this guy who went to see Huber years ago and dropped a massive amount of weight—over 60 pounds!—and quit smoking at the same time.
Now, he just pops in for an acupuncture session once every month or two, and he's been doing that for years.
He eats normally—not "normally" like when he was bingeing, but just genuinely balanced meals.

I honestly think the secret is all in that balance: learning to recognize what your body actually needs and can handle, and just listening to it.

What part are you finding hard to believe?
Do you think everyone else is doing better?
The Emperor is just bullying you mentally, yelling if you don't hit those impossible goals he's set in his head—like living on nothing but air and water! So many people have posted about that kind of pressure on the forums.
I remember seeing an article about someone at that clinic over in downtown San Francisco (my brain is a bit foggy today, I can't even recall the street name 😁 ) where they were basically being told to eat 20 ounces of plain cauliflower a day. That's what the news report said, anyway!
With Huber, at least you can actually enjoy some roasted chicken, steamed veggies, or a nice salad. 🙂
I haven't had any personal experience there to share, but who knows! 😬

And of course, most diets fail because once people drop the weight and hit their goal, they go absolutely wild on food like they haven't eaten in years!
The real trick is changing your actual eating habits, and knowing when to stop before you overdo it.
That’s really all there is to it, though sadly, it seems out of reach for a lot of people.
I totally agree! 😁

Let's all just take a deep breath and cool things down a bit!

It's true that Dr. Huber suggests taking calming tablets if someone is struggling to manage without eating,
but she definitely isn't handing them out like candy from her desk drawer!
Plus, you can't just grab medication from the Sesvete Community Health Center on a whim—they don't just hand those out there anyway, so getting them isn't that simple. 😉

As for the diet, she recommends cutting out carbs entirely and eating unlimited meat and low-carb veggies, with one day a week dedicated strictly to vegetables.

While I think her meal plan leaves a lot to be desired, it's really not as bad as you're making it out to be.

Waiting until things get so bad that they end up in the ER.

Oh, totally, we all know how it is 🙄
but some people just dodge the doctor until things go completely south.

You can't force anyone to visit their primary care physician, or follow up with a specialist, or go for those routine checkups if they aren't interested.
Plus, sometimes it's just a logistical nightmare for them.
But once that person is actually doubled over in pain, someone else finally steps up and calls 911.
Or they'll grab a neighbor to drive them to the hospital in the middle of the night and really put the doctors through the wringer.
What could these symptoms indicate? in Health ·
Melissa Garcia51 said:I’m worried that calling 911 might not actually solve the core issue. Aside from getting some pain relief, they might eventually suggest she be admitted to the hospital. And honestly, they might not even do that if they decide her symptoms can just be handled through outpatient testing
.
..

And I honestly don't see the downside here! 😕
They'll run all the necessary tests and get her the treatment she needs
.
I actually know a few people who dealt with this recently where it wasn't even an emergency at first
. The local paramedics showed up, sorted things out immediately, and gave clear instructions on what follow-up care was needed—which, of course, didn't happen
. Then they had to call them back once, then again, and eventually, our "doctor-avoider" hero ended up stuck in a hospital bed for a few days after a mountain of tests and a full treatment plan were finally put in place
. So trust me, it's definitely not like the EMTs just show up, give a quick shot, and leave without caring
.
