It seems like everything changed once I hit my 30s
I used to be able to get way more rest than this

Just headed out toward the outskirts near Chicago!
Even H&M has some pretty decent numbers these days.
You can actually find some stylish stuff at C&A too—it’s definitely moved past those old-fashioned, outdated vibes. Plus, if you're a size 46 here, you'll be rocking a 42 there, which is such a win because you feel so much smaller!
The prices are super reasonable, too.

Now I'm really curious—which number? What's the story?

This kind of thing reminds me of a debate I had with a few "experts" on another forum about this exact topic.
QUOTE]

Actually, we already had this same discussion here a few years back.
And man, there were just as many comments back then as there are now.
It was always the same stuff—people claiming they had "inside info" from their cousin’s roommate’s buddy who knows a guy... basically saying they heard through the grapevine that certain things happened.🤣
People were even going as far as to say anyone who carries a donor card gets put on some blacklist, or that their family doctors are secretly running extra tests on them behind their backs. Some people even claimed it’s only a matter of time before someone pulls you over and robs you of your organs!
Honestly, what a great thread—it's an incredible concentration of nonsense all in one place.

I think most of you know where I stand on this.
If anyone actually needs help or wants to take anything, don't worry about me; I won't be needing any of that.
I’ve probably carried my donor card since the day it was invented. Even if it doesn't change much legally, I like to think of it as making my stance clear.
But hey, I do get one little perk out of it!
Since I keep it tucked right in my driver's license, the highway patrol guys usually let me off with a warning instead of a ticket. Thanks, boys in blue!🙂

That kind of thing really helps with rheumatism, arthritis, and those types of aches
and dogs too!
In England (I'm positive about this, though it probably happens elsewhere), they actually bring dogs into hospitals for exactly that purpose.

OT—question for the experts here: wouldn't glucosamine sulfate be helpful for this too?
At least, that's what I've heard from others.
Even though it says it's meant for joints and cartilage...

Man, I miss those days when you could just walk right into the doctor's office without an appointment! 😬

So, where exactly did they put those screws and plates?
Total Cure for Cancer and Leukemia? in Health ·
I’ve never been much of a believer in alternative medicine myself, so I don't really buy into those methods
but my rheumatoid arthritis definitely behaves much better when I actually use my head and stick to the diet described here.

Daniel Murphy43 said:I struggle with rheumatoid arthritis, and I notice it gets way worse whenever I cut back on food or fast. After just a day or two of fasting, I feel so much better—my fingers aren't swollen anymore and my joints move much more freely. Because of that, I'm actually preparing for a full fasting regimen. My doctor wants me to ramp up the heavy stuff, like corticosteroids and cytostatics, but I think I'll try a three-week fast first, following Dr. Breuss's approach.

I don't think I could handle a total fast because I honestly love snacking way too much!
And hey, at the end of the day, you've got to eat to live, right?
I'd much rather be full and dealing with my health issues than starving myself just to feel healthy (that’s just me poking fun at myself, so please don't take it personally!)

For me, life gets so much better when I cut out high-carb foods—you know, all the grains, fruit, sugar, and things like beans and peas.
I also steer clear of beef, lamb, and dairy products.
Raw meat just doesn't sit well with me anyway.
In the end, my diet mostly consists of poultry, eggs, fish, veggies, and maybe a little fresh cheese just to keep me happy!
It truly makes such a massive difference in how I feel within just a few days.
Now, I just need to find the willpower to stick to this kind of eating for at least six months straight!
Oh, and no alcohol either, though luckily I don't drink, so that part is easy.😬
Placenta issues/concerns in Health ·
rustymoose54 said:The placenta isn't actually part of the body, Justin Fox 😁—not after you give birth! The body just expels it (heaven forbid it stayed inside, a woman would die from sepsis). If they offered me my own placenta right after delivery, what on earth do you think I'd do with that bloody, slimy, web-like mass of tissue?

It looked so wild that if they’d asked me what I wanted to do with it in that moment, I probably would've screamed, "Just flush it down the toilet!"😬

Though, if I had actually asked them to save it, maybe they would have packed it up for me, who knows?

That woman who wanted to preserve stem cells—did she actually manage to pull that off in Austin? I know that was the goal.

They have an office in Chicago

Word is they’re great and actually get the job done much better than most places I've been to.
The catch is they only work up to -4 diopters—honestly, if you have really bad vision, they might be useless for you! 😬
I think the total cost for $1667 everything, including the lenses and the exam, comes out to about
. Either way, you really need to go in for a consultation first just to see if they can even help you at all.

We've actually chatted about them on the forum a few times before, so feel free to dig through the old threads to see what everyone else said!
Social security or whatever it's called? in Health ·
Jessica Davis12 said:Health insurance isn't tied to the unemployment office anymore, so you actually have to head over to Medicare to get registered.

But you still have to pay for it, right?
If I hadn't signed up with the unemployment office on time, I would've been in such a jam!
I remember how it used to be—you'd end up paying for six months all at once, plus a monthly fee,
otherwise, you don't get any coverage at all.

Old wives' remedy: ear ointment

For all you guys who are constantly cleaning out your ears and living in them—try chloramphenicol (I think I spelled that right!)

Chatting with our doctor in Health ·
Switching doctors has become so much easier lately!

All you really have to do is visit a new provider, chat about transferring your care, and then let them notify your insurance
You don't even need to give your old doctor a heads-up—they'll just be a little surprised when they see the update!
Honestly, you can switch anytime you want; it’s entirely up to you.

fadedtrucker19 said:Right now, whether they're brand new or not, I just wash my lenses with regular dish soap (like Dawn) and some tap water.

To be fair, these aren't exactly fresh out of the box; I've definitely had this pair for at least 4 or 5 years!

...

hard lenses?
Honestly, the absolute best thing I've ever used for them is just baby shampoo!

Personally, I've always found Allergan solutions to be the gold standard,
whether I'm dealing with hard lenses or soft ones.
Surgical excision for under $100??? in Health ·
You actually get a huge tax break here! 😬
It just goes to show that the government really does look out for people dealing with health issues
though you can't exactly be more unwell than $4000 per year 🦷

You guys turned such a serious topic into a complete joke! 🙄
I totally lost track of this thread even though I meant to chime in!

So glad you bumped it up.

I just wanted to jump back in and share another positive experience.
Last week, my daughter had surgery at Mayo Clinic.
They didn't make us jumping through any hoops or meet any weird requirements;
everyone was just incredibly kind and wonderful,
from the head of the department all the way down to the cleaning staff.
Honestly, I could never do that job myself.
Even if the benefits were amazing and the paychecks were huge, I just don't think I have it in me!
Anyone into yoga? in Health ·
Elizabeth Nelson23 said:Hi everyone! I'm not sure if this is the right spot for this, but I really need to start doing yoga to help with some neck tension. My only issue is that I'm just not into any of that "energy" stuff or religious/spiritual preaching. I'm purely interested in the stretching part! If anyone knows a great instructor who keeps things strictly physical without the sermonizing, please let me know where they are located (I'm based in Chicago)

thanks!

They didn't preach at all last year!
I think they're a totally solid choice
