So, I guess the first requirement for writing prescriptions or recipes is officially checked off!
Eye irritation and makeup: what works? in Health ·
I’ve been wearing contacts for about 28 years now, and I’ve dealt with eye infections just twice in all that time.
The main thing is you have to actually cure the infection, not just mask the symptoms.
To figure out exactly what's going on, you really need to go get an eye swab at a specialist clinic—like if you're over in New York City, you'd head to a top-tier ophthalmology center.
Then, you have to do another swab after your treatment to make sure everything is totally cleared up.
The first time it happened, I skipped that second step, and sure enough, it came right back!
In the meantime, you should definitely switch to glasses.
And honestly? Just toss your old contacts, your lens case, any eye makeup, and even those eye creams straight into the trash.
I didn't throw out my makeup the first time around, which was a mistake.

Once I finally finished the treatment and tossed everything out, the infection never bothered me again.
That was about 7 years ago.

I'm sorry to say it, but there's really no other way to do it right!
Quick question about credit cards in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
I’ve got my Master's degree
As far as what I actually need, I'm totally satisfied
I can use it to shop anywhere in the US or online

I don't play games with credit cards; if I buy something, I just pay it off from my main checking account immediately
I'm already juggling a pretty significant mortgage, and if I started putting everything else—like little extras or random treats—on installment plans, the math would get so messy I'd end up bankrupt
And honestly, I just can't let that happen!

You could honestly spend all night reading through that one!
Justin Fox said:Pain is such a personal thing—it hits everyone differently! I remember when I had that terrible bout of food poisoning last year, and honestly, I felt like I was dying while my roommate just sat there totally fine. It really does vary from person to person.

I think you might have gotten a few things mixed up there!
I’m going to sit this one out because I really don't see the point in debating someone who clearly doesn't have a clue! It's not like you're an expert on the subject, and honestly, you've never even been through pregnancy yourself.
Honestly, I think this is one of those massive, total facepalms!
Everyone feels pain just the same, I think. It really just comes down to how much patience and common sense someone actually has for others. Some people have enough grace to stay calm instead of screaming, while others turn their own past struggles into an excuse to act out. I've definitely learned that the hard way!

Justin Fox said:I was looking at some statistics earlier (I'll drop the link once I track it down!), and it turns out that in Switzerland, the best outcomes for vaginal births—meaning zero complications like tearing, vacuum assistance, or injuries to the baby—actually happened right before a scheduled C-section! It seems those cases had the most minimal impact on both mom and baby. Such an interesting finding!

Let's goooooooo!
Wow, those statistics are seriously impressive!
Even the most old-fashioned grandma in a small town like Topeka would know that!

I'm having a little trouble following your logic there!
I'm feeling pretty good today! Just wanted to pop in and say hi to everyone. Hope you're all having an awesome week! 👎 But man, that is just absolutely awesome! 👍
I honestly don't think the smaller procedures cut it, but if you go big, it’s absolutely worth it! I had a similar experience last year and, man, what a difference. 😕

Mine works just like that too,

David Jackson2 said:I tried getting used to RGP lenses for about six months. I wore them just a little bit every day, following my eye doctor's instructions to slowly increase the time. Oh man, what a struggle that was! 😢.
Then I switched to soft contacts (like Acuvue or Surevue), and honestly, there was almost no adjustment period at all. I can barely even feel them in my eyes.

That’s pretty much my experience too!
Except I actually started wearing contacts back in the late '70s, way before you could even find them easily at a local US optometrist.
First, I struggled through hard lenses, then moved on to rigid gas permeable ones.
Just thinking about how much those used to hurt brings tears to my eyes!
It took me a full month of adjusting before I finally felt comfortable enough to leave the house.
Ever since soft lenses became common, I've stuck with them—probably for at least 15 years now.
And everything has been great!

As for whether hard or RGP lenses stop your prescription from changing, I wouldn't know.
My vision actually got worse while I was wearing them (I started when I was about 14).
But prescriptions change even with glasses, and since my vision is just clearer with contacts, they're always my first choice!
In the last 10 years or so, my prescription hasn't budged at all.
But hey, I'm 42 now, so my development finished a long time ago!

My daughter has worn soft contacts since she was 10, and now that she's 17, her prescription has only gone up by 0.5.
Chloe Palmer2 said:I remember back when I had my tonsils out (I was about 10 years old), the adults gave the doctor $500. Since then, thanks to them, I haven't needed any surgeries, so I have no idea what things cost these days! 😁

My dad actually just had his tonsils out about 10 days ago
and we ended up giving a whole string of doctors and nurses about $0.00 (counting all different currencies)
plus some nice little gifts like coffee and boxes of chocolates, totaling about $0.00 worth of treats!
The bedside manner was absolutely top-notch!
As for the hospital service itself... well, it was classic American style—we were at the local Mayo Clinic, in the urology department.

Susan Martin24 said:"Understanding" doctors... haha!
There’s actually such a thing as "clinical indications for a referral," and determining that is part of the doctor's job, not yours 😈
QUOTE]

Honestly, I think you're just wonderful
You really are such a great woman
But please don't judge every single doctor based on one bad experience
For instance, my primary care physician is absolutely amazing, but I know plenty of doctors who won't give you a referral even if you crawl to their office on your hands and knees
And once you start paying out-of-pocket for a specialist, there's zero chance they'll write you a prescription

If you can't "understand" your GP, it's incredibly easy to just switch to a different practice

I've heard nothing but glowing reviews about the Sunce clinic over by Jarun (it's right near the Red Cross, behind that old church mess)
They gave my colleague all the pricing details right over the phone when she called them up

restlesspanther1 said:So isn't it really about eating right rather than acupuncture? 😉

Exactly! 😬
But honestly, I think people need a little mental nudge to actually get their diet on track.

(I know this from my own experience 😁, and I bet jadesailor14 could use a little motivation like that too!)

restlesspanther1 said:I know a couple of people who actually tried it... and they both managed to drop all those extra pounds! 🙄

If they just went right back to bingeing like they did before losing the weight, it’s no surprise they ended up right back where they started! I learned that the hard way myself after my first attempt at a diet.
Neither acupuncture nor some weird cabbage soup diet is going to do the trick for them! I tried that soup once during a bad flu and, let me tell you, it was just a disaster.

Thirsting for 3 liters of water a day just isn't typical.

Have you had your blood sugar or hormones checked lately?

It really varies from person to person!
For me,
I've been like this for all 42 years of my life.
So, a recent checkup wouldn't really change much since
I've dealt with so many different health issues over these 42 years for all sorts of reasons.

nimbledriver81 said:Yeah, it’s definitely too much. You can roll your eyes all you want, but it's true. 😁

Too much?
It's actually not enough!
If I only drank a little over a liter a day, I'd be totally dehydrated by noon.

But seriously now,
I personally drink about 3 liters a day (sometimes even more!), because that's just what my body needs.
I've always been super thirsty.
I really think that just like everything else, everyone's water needs are different.
To me, obsessing over exact amounts feels silly if you aren't actually thirsty.
Just because it's a huge wellness trend right now doesn't mean it applies to everyone!

Robin Myers91 said:I actually got started with Herbalife because my cousin works as a distributor, plus I saw some people here on the forum speaking highly of it. I did try combining Herbalife with the Zone diet, just like MacGregor suggested. Honestly, don't go blaming him—that was my call, inspired by his posts which felt pretty grounded to me. To be fair, I couldn't stick to the Zone because it's way too complicated for me, so I ended up basically living on one apple a day.

And your cousin is probably a bit more intense about it, too!
It seems like that HL stuff really affects people's moods.

Who else on this forum actually has a good experience besides MacGregor and his many clones (and we all know they aren't different people, he's just repeating himself over and over)?
Plus, it's only "positive" for him because it's lining his pockets!
Judging by the photo, it didn't do much for his looks or staying fit.
And judging by how he writes on this forum, it certainly didn't help his intellect!
We can't really speak to the health side, but it doesn't look particularly healthy to me.

I have to ask again: what do your parents think about your diet?
I have a 17-year-old daughter, and if she were living on protein shakes and one single apple a day, it would be 🙂

Robin Myers91 said:What are your thoughts on rapid weight loss? Right now, I’m doing a Herbalife diet where I just have two shakes a day and one apple. I’ve already dropped 17 pounds in a single week! I know it’s probably not the healthiest way to go about it, but...

I actually came across your post over on Psychology Today
you mentioned you're only 17, right?
What do your parents think about you losing weight this fast?
Honestly, this meal plan is a total disaster, especially since you're still growing at your age!
If that wonderful guy MacGregor is the one who sold you on this, someone really needs to give him a piece of my mind!
Is that happening over on Jefferson now?
I still remember back when it was on Missouri and Columbus.

Since I work as a freelancer, I don't qualify for that discount.

So, do you have some kind of high-tech glasses?
I think it's definitely time for a change.

* Get 7-8 HOURS of sleep regularly
More like 4-6

* Be physically active for at least 30 minutes every day
If a quick walk with my dog counts, then I'm definitely checking that box!

* Eat breakfast on a regular basis
I just can't face food first thing in the morning, let alone a full meal

* Drink about 8 glasses of water daily
I actually drink more than that—around 100 ounces of fluids (water, coffee, tea) a day. It's not even for looks or health, I just get super thirsty!

* Split your daily food intake into five meals
Haha, more like two meals for me

* Avoid snacking between meals, and stay away from fatty, salty, or sugary foods
I actually follow this one by accident! Fatty food makes me feel gross, I'm pretty light on the salt, and I rarely eat sweets. Plus, I don't put sugar in my coffee or tea (and too much sugar makes me feel uneasy anyway)

* Eat fruits and vegetables every single day
Vegetables are in every meal, but fruit is rare for me—it's just way too sweet!

* Maintain a healthy body weight
🙄 , I wouldn't say so

* Avoid stressful situations and learn how to manage stress
That sounds lovely, but it's so hard to actually do in real life!

* Don't smoke cigarettes
I don't smoke a Marlboro

* Drink alcohol in moderation or avoid it altogether
A cold beer with a backyard BBQ is about as much as I handle
