Hey, I'm looking at picking up a new GPU specifically to play Battlefield 1, and I'm torn between an RX 460 or a GTX 1050. Some sites I've been digging through claim the RX 460 should actually pull ahead when running on DirectX 12, but honestly, I have no clue if that's legit or just hype.

So I’ve got this old Seagate BarraCuda 160 GB just sitting there, and I’m looking to grab a 120GB SSD—either used or new, whatever works. But honestly? I don't know the first thing about SSDs. I'm totally lost here. Does anyone even know if an SSD will actually work with my ASUS Prime N68 motherboard? I have no clue if it's even compatible.

I remember when Dell monitors used to actually include cables in the box—and I mean two of them, mind you. You'd get both VGA and DVI. That was back in the day, anyway. I’m not sure what their current policy is, but if you're heading down to Best Buy, definitely double-check the specs before you drop the cash.

A DVI-D cable (with the same connector on both ends) will fit perfectly into a DVI-I port on your graphics card, so that's the one you need.

🙄 Yeah, I tried plugging everything into the GPU, but the monitor isn't even giving me a signal, so I switched over to the motherboard video out just to try and get the drivers installed.

Everything is hooked up to the graphics card, but the monitor just sits there with a blinking green light—total dead end. Nothing.

Then I plugged it into the motherboard. I tried using both 6-pin connectors on the card, but still nothing. Tried using just one pin, and I actually got a picture, but then when I go to install the drivers, it can't even find the card because I don't have both pins connected.

I am losing my freaking mind here.

Yo, I’ve got a massive headache here. Every time I plug both 6-pin connectors into my card, nothing happens. My old CRT monitor is hooked up directly to the motherboard, and there’s just zero picture. Plus, sometimes the monitor starts making this constant, annoying "tick, tick, tick" sound. It's driving me nuts.

If I only plug in one 6-pin, the monitor actually works and the PC boots up fine, but obviously, it won't recognize the new card. Those red warning LEDs on the card stay lit, and I can't even get the drivers to install because the system isn't seeing the hardware properly.

Honestly, my motherboard is just acting total garbage right now. It’s nothing crazy, I don't need anything fancy—I just need to swap out this broken piece of junk so I can get back online. So, a lightning strike just fried my rig. Now the ethernet port is dead and one of the USB ports is totally toasted. The weirdest part? When I try to shut the damn thing down, the hard drive stops spinning, but everything else—GPU, CPU, you name it—just keeps running like nothing happened. It’s driving me nuts.
I'm honestly not sure if the power supply took a hit too, or if it's just the motherboard acting up.
Anyone got any leads on a decent replacement? I'm fine with something new or even some used parts if they aren't complete junk.

Look, I'm running the stock cooler on my CPU right now, which is a total disaster. If I don't leave the case wide open, the fan starts screaming at 6500 RPM just to keep up. It sounds like a damn jet engine in my room! So yeah, I definitely need some solid recommendations for a decent cooler. Once I get that sorted, I can finally blow out all this dust, shut the case back up, and stop living in a wind tunnel.😁
