Did Hitler kill civilians? YES
Did Bush kill civilians? YES
Was Hitler an imperialist? YES
Was Bush an imperialist? YES
Did Hitler torture civilians and suspected dissidents? YES
Does Bush torture civilians and suspected dissidents? YES
The guilt of the people...
Did Hitler come to power through democratic means? NO
Did Bush come to power democratically and then get re-elected? YES
Go ahead, give me your thoughts... but I truly believe there’s no distinction here, other than the fact that Bush rose to the presidency by the will of the people and was subsequently voted back into office.😛
Hitler actually rose to power through democratic processes, specifically via elections.
As a representative of the German far-right, Hitler exploited the widespread discontent of much of the German population caused by economic instability and the heavy reparations imposed following World War I and his party secured victories in two consecutive parliamentary elections in 1932, after which, in 1933, Paul von Hindenburg appointed him Chancellor. A year later, in 1934, with the support of all German parties except the Democratic Party, he sidelined Parliament from the legislative process, effectively establishing a party and personal dictatorship. This culminated in 1939 with the initiation of wars of aggression and genocide against certain European nations, most notably the Jew (see: Holocaust).
