lonebadger6 said:I was actually thinking the exact same thing as stormytiger4. Even if we did make it its own subforum—which might actually be pretty cool—it belongs under Alternative, just like how Alternative Medicine got moved away from Health.

If they move it to the alternative section, they're basically throwing a gauntlet down at all the freaks to tear it apart. If I were running the show, I'd take a long look at how things are currently working on this board before making any moves.
If you ask me, I’d be all for opening a subforum like that. I’ll pop in from time to time—there’s some interesting stuff there, and honestly, the discussions seem pretty decent so far.

Yeah, it's just like those pro-Libertarian Party activists who flood every single thread with spam the second their party is mentioned. But hey, let's not talk about that—I guess they're "funny," "unpredictable," and "mature" instead of just being annoying.

How to enable BIOS AHCI mode? in IT Support ·
David Morris13 said:Hey, I've got this issue:

I want to install Windows on an SSD, and once that's done, I need to switch the BIOS to AHCI mode to get the best performance, but the option just isn't there. Is it possible my BIOS doesn't even have that setting? I tried updating the BIOS using official Gigabyte updates, but every time I run them, they just crash. I tried messing with the registry too, but Samsung Magician keeps telling me I'm not running in AHCI mode. My motherboard is a GA-P31-S3G, and here's a shot of the BIOS:

You've got a problem right there. According to the manual for that board, Hard drives in RAID/AHCI mode are not supported.

Republican Party hacks.

Look, I’m not looking for a debate here, and yeah, maybe this isn't even the right subforum, but I feel like I'm basically flagging the mods to delete or punish anyone claiming the Republican Party is just the unofficial successor to the old Communist Party. Personally, I lean toward Goati's assessment—even if people have their subjective gripes about it. Why? Because I was actually there. I saw it happen. Almost without exception, the police brass in the Department of Justice and the New York City Police Department—people who were die-hard communists just yesterday—switched over to become Republican Party members. And even without that, you can find Communist Party membership tucked away in the bios of plenty of older Republican Party folks.

That's my two cents. ☕

Issues with my mechanic in Law ·
Bradley Adams34 said:Greetings,

About three weeks ago, I dropped my car off at a private repair shop for some work. Since then, the mechanic has gone completely radio silent. I’ve tried calling him three or four times; I finally managed to get him on the line once, and he promised to call me back the very next day with a list of parts I needed to pick up. Since that moment, nothing. Not a word. He isn't even picking up my calls anymore.

Is there any consumer protection law that actually applies here? I didn't leave my vehicle with some guy working out of his backyard shed; I left it with a registered LLC that, in my opinion, should be held to certain professional standards. In a civilized society, this is how things ought to work.

What I really want—aside from the guy actually doing the job—is to have some actual leverage when I show up at his shop in person and tell him, "If you don't finish this work as we agreed, I'm reporting you to the Better Business Bureau and the state authorities."

Let’s be clear: I have no intention of actually filing a report. I just want to use that threat to scare him enough to make sure he does his job properly.

Thanks and regards!

I don't know about the legal side, but this whole situation smells fishy. Three weeks is plenty of time to get a car back on the road, not just tinker with it. You should probably head over to an automotive forum and see what they suggest.
Upgrading from LGA 1155 socket in Desktops ·
Look, if you’re playing on this setup, you don't need an upgrade right now. Once you actually feel the CPU struggling to keep up with a game (whenever that may be), then come back and ask what to get, because by then, you'll need to know what's actually current.

I spotted two older Western Digital NAS units on Craigslist—one single-bay for $450 and a dual-bay for $700.$17 Honestly, that’s a pretty decent deal if you just want to get things running for the OP.
Politics > World > Trump Discussion @ KCCLK Forum in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Bradley Ramos7 said:Come on, lonebadger6, for crying out loud, unlock that Trump thread! It’s easily one of the best, most active discussions on the Forum. Not a single person posting there supports racism or Hitler.

Don't let us think you're scared of the anti-Trump crowd—that group installed by the Democratic Administration over at Buzina. If they give you any grief, just tell them about us; we've got your back. Tell them straight up they're nothing more than KKK-ovacs in disguise.

One of the "best" discussions? You gunning for Joke of the Year?
Christian Morales said:Hello everyone. 🙂

I'm running into a bit of a headache with the hardware on my Dell Inspiron, which is about five years old now. Specifically, I'm dealing with a failing CPU fan—that crucial little cooling component that keeps everything running smoothly. Without it working properly, the whole laptop starts overheating and just shuts itself down. The issue is that it's being temperamental; it'll work fine for a moment, then suddenly start making this awful grinding noise before seizing up entirely, causing the system to overheat and die. I've already visited three different repair shops in Washington, D.C., and wouldn't you know it, none of them could track down the specific part I need, even though they are official HP partners.

Does anyone happen to know of any reliable technicians in the Washington, D.C. area who might actually keep spare parts in stock for laptops that are five years old or even older? I am well aware that I could probably hunt this down online, but if someone could point me in the right direction or share how to find it quickly, it would save me so much time and frustration. Honestly, I have no desire to go out and buy a brand-new machine when I've already sunk nearly $2167 into this one. It's actually a really solid laptop, featuring an Intel processor paired with AMD graphics that can still handle pretty demanding applications, along with an Intel Core i5 processor that remains a standard for a reason. If I were to go out and buy a new one today, would I even see a significant upgrade over what I currently have? Probably not, so I’d truly appreciate any leads you might have. 🕺

Thanks in advance.

Keep in mind there are tons of different versions of the DV6 series out there, so not every part will fit yours. But if you can track down a decent replacement at a fair price, check these links.
Best external hard drives to buy right now? in Computer Peripherals ·
Dana Reyes4 said:I bought a WD 2.5 1 TB external drive, but when I plug it into my TV, nothing happens. It doesn't matter if it's empty or full—the TV just won't recognize it. Could it be a power issue? Like, maybe it needs more juice to spin up, so I should try using one of those special USB cables with extra power, or is there something else going on? Just so you know, I formatted it to exFAT (or whatever it's called, definitely not FAT)

It's likely NTFS, and you probably need to use that Y-cable for extra power.

It’ll be easier for you once you realize I’ve been a woman on this forum for ten years.

The Forumas was given some time to think, and I think that's exactly what it's doing.

I'm not even going to argue about it because after 13 years, I have zero intention of changing an avatar that isn't banned in America or anywhere else in the world. Whatever opinion you moderators want to label me with is entirely up to you.

Hasanebgović was wearing a different insignia, and I've already laid out my stance on that in the relevant thread.
