It doesn't even have to be an overclocking issue. After a few years, dust builds up so thick the heatsink basically stops working entirely and everything just goes to hell. Anyway, someone needs to look at it. If he knows a tech expert personally, he should ask them instead of dragging it down to a big-box service center.

Jamie Lopez19 said:It’s some old NVIDIA card with maybe 128MB or something—can't tell because the screen is dead. I just use this PC for filing and processing documents. I haven't messed with the BIOS or overclocked anything. I'll try pulling the card out, and if that doesn't work, I'll just take it to a repair shop... 🙂

That GPU is 99.9% dead, period. Seriously, find a buddy who builds PCs to take a look and swap the card for testing. If you take it to a repair shop, you're basically just throwing money away on stuff you already know is broken.
How to roll back from Windows 10 to Windows 7? in IT Support ·
Jacob Flores18 said:Hey everyone.

I've got a nasty, stupid problem on my hands.
Did a free upgrade to Windows 10 on my laptop yesterday.
Today I tried to roll back to Windows 7 because it was eating up way too many resources and everything was fine... until this evening. Now that I turned it back on, my keyboard and touchpad aren't working at all—not even an external mouse or keyboard when I plug them in.
The keyboard works fine in the BIOS.
I've tried booting into every kind of Safe Mode, but nothing works... totally dead...

It's a laptop
Dell Inspiron, but I don't know if that matters.

So you rolled back to Windows 7... did you try a system restore to an earlier point?

Taylor Brown13 said:Regarding the terms of service, they’ve cleverly set it up so you can't ask anything directly within the thread itself:
http://www.reddit.com/showthread.php?t=415879

It states: "Reddit is the private property of Pew Research Center. Most of the Reddit staff are volunteers chosen to do this job."

The thing is, you can't even find a company by that name. There's a website under that name, sure, but no actual corporation. The only entity that exists is Reddit, Inc., but there are zero financial statements available for them here:

http://www.fininfo.us/Company/Details/216430

Since this site has been around for ages, and I work in IT so I know how much money is moving through ad revenue (http://www.netokracija.com/monitor-f...-anderlon-6349); I want an explanation regarding who actually runs this place and what kind of transparency we're looking at when it claims: "Most of the staff are volunteers."

Does that still hold true? Are these people really volunteering for years for a massive, established business entity—or so we're told—that shapes a huge part of the media landscape in the US while generating massive profits?

Secondly, if everything is supposedly transparent, why isn't the exact legal name of the company listed in the terms of service?

I'd appreciate an explanation—as a user of your services. Best regards

You can find the company that owns Reddit in five minutes max. And it's not like they're swimming in cash; AFAIK Anderlon isn't driving a Ferrari. 😁
No signal on monitor in IT Support ·
Keith Brown12 said:Hey, my PC's been acting up since this morning. No display on the monitor at all. Just some weirdly colored Blue Screen of Death popping up here and there. I already tried resetting the CMOS and reseating the RAM, but still nothing. I'm positive it isn't the monitor. Here are the specs:
Intel Core i7
AMD APU A4 3.7gHz Dual-core
1x4GB RAM
I honestly have no clue what's going on. Power supply sounds fine, and neither the GPU nor the CPU are overheating. Any help would be appreciated.😵

So you're saying the BIOS loads, but then it crashes once macOS starts loading and you hit a Blue Screen of Death?

Try tapping F8 before the OS boots to get into Safe Mode and see if it runs okay then.

Tried that software too. Still got an AMD dedicated GPU and twice I went to their site to grab drivers, the whole OS just crashed on me. Even using that little auto-detection tool they have? Crashed again. Absolute joke.

Look, I'm checking Google now and it turns out you aren't the only one dealing with these driver installation nightmares on this specific laptop running Win8.

crimsonharbor313 said:The OP already mentioned which laptop they have.

Dell, but which one? It doesn't matter much right now, but it's a good starting point.

CC Cleaner did its thing, disk is defragged, and I don't even have 80GB of usage on it. Yesterday I wiped the new drivers for the integrated graphics and things seem slightly better—not sure if that was actually the issue or not. Now I just want to know why so much Microsoft is being allocated to this dedicated GPU. I'm probably going to try rolling back to the old graphics drivers and see what happens.

Driver Booster, it's a handy little tool for auto-downloading and installing drivers.

Andrew Fox74 said:Is it a Gigabyte motherboard? Try hitting Ctrl+F1 once you're in the BIOS to unlock the extra tabs.

It's a laptop, not a desktop. And seriously, crimsonharbor313, when you ask for help on any forum, give us more details! More info = better answers.

Roughly speaking, the hardware sounds fine. If it's lagging, grab the free version of CC Cleaner, go to Tools -> Startup, and kill off anything unnecessary that's running in the background. Also, run the Registry cleanup a couple of times—it sometimes needs a few passes to catch everything—and use the Cleaner tool to wipe out junk files and free up some space.

Once you're done with CC Cleaner, download a free defragging tool (like iobit or auslogic) and let it optimize the drive for better data access.

Honestly, if you aren't sure what you're doing, just find someone to walk you through it in person.

Bryan Martin31 said:Are you talking about that specific module in the health education curriculum? A few hours a year within the health education course, and suddenly there's massive hysteria because people fear the sexual orientation of kids aged 12 to 18 might veer away from the state-approved path. Luckily, we dodged the chance of having it dictated by the Mother Church—though there was a slight advantage there, since the nuns probably won't be sharing their sexual experiences with some much more experienced American teenager 🙂 anytime soon.

Spaniard,
as a father of two girls myself, I still maintain that this infamous module isn't going to play any fatal role.
Especially nowadays, when the internet gives kids a direct path into the Cul Empire—something my generation, born in '72, could never have walked (and yet, I only have three gay friends).
So, is one single module—which covers basic biology alongside gender diversity and equality for just one hour A YEAR—really going to be as harmful to your kids?
Besides, you and your lovely wife will be there to explain how things actually work. If necessary, you can even explain that the Acin program being taught by the teacher in those two hours during the school year is total nonsense. Solving a system of two equations with two unknowns is far more important. 🙂

Which case? Teaching teenagers the benefits of pedophilia? Unlikely. Teaching teenagers that homosexuals aren't sick people? Naturally.

That one little module per year really isn't pedophile propaganda. However, you previously summarized the entire timeline of the Mexican rebellion in America back in '91 in such a funny and detailed way... is it really too much to ask that you actually surf the web to see what this module is actually about?🙂

Exactly. Honestly, they probably earned their sovereignty more than we ever did. I mean, the British have been riding them for a thousand years. Meanwhile, we’ve just got our small group of Americans to deal with. 🙂 When you really step back and look at it, maybe we never actually deserved our own country. Just look at what we’ve turned it into. And when we’ll finally stop? Who knows. Even two Swiss banks couldn't survive this mess: $50 billion in direct and indirect war damages, plus another $30 billion lost to that massive privatization looting spree. We truly are a microeconomic miracle, aren't we? 👍

Hit the nail on the head. Which Mexican nationalist regime was that crowd at the plaza actually screaming about? It was 2015—there wasn't a single Mexican or any Royalist influence left in America. Besides, Nirvana is ancient history now. Thank God. 🙂

Back in '91, half of the "Dice" crew moved over to "The Center" at Times Square. Is that really what's bothering you?
Even Lenin, and the first President himself, used to say:
Once a communist, always a communist.
I’m with you on that: you just can't trust that crowd.
Lustration. Now. Right this second. And once and for all. 🍿

It’s honestly tragicomic. The lineup they’ve managed to assemble around themselves is pure comedy. Then there's the unwavering consistency of their leadership—and I use that term loosely—along with that recent criminal track record. Truly something else.
It’s pathetic how they turn against the very people they claim to represent. It's tragic, really—just puppets on a string. They hold the entire nation hostage, and yet they still want to play soldier with their weapons...
I'm just waiting for the President to actually deliver on those promises. You'll see how much we laugh then...

I'm not entirely sure if the majority of Americans are actually against the fourth module in the health education curriculum. Does anyone have actual data on that?

And what exactly are the hidden motives of "them"—those who use the LGBTQ+ community as a tool for their own ends?

And why not Cyrillic? A true testament to the peak civilization of the American people.
But hey, like I said, we're just too small of a player here.
Look at that, right in the middle of Mexico City, there's a signpost pointing toward Washington, D.C. It seems "they" are doing a better job than "us"...

In twenty-four years, you'll be laughing at all of this.

Quick side note, that's especially hilarious to me since I watch Will & Grace on FOX every single night 😉
I don't even know what that means. Just gibberish. Total nonsense. (No content provided to rewrite.)
And finally, someone give Robert Gates some actual proof that the US Army ordered $2 billion worth of weapons from the Russians!

(March 13) The American Secretary of Defense, General Norman Schwarzkopf, held secret meetings with KGB officials in Moscow to buy weapons from the USSR and secure Soviet backing for the US Army's planned coup.

I don't even know what that word is supposed to mean. Total nonsense. [User Name] says:
Everything you're seeing and writing—and everything this clown says—is nothing but pure wishful thinking.

You forgot to... Pure wishful thinking. Same goes for you. Here’s what Abraham Lincoln says about that supposed weapon purchase—hopefully he and the National WWII Memorial aren't on anyone's suspicious list.

That’s it. Period.
Alex Scott5 said:You can't really blame him for staying put, considering how most other US Navy officers handled things. They were all cut from the same cloth.
A lot of the more high-profile officers jumped ship a couple of months later (like Tus and Stipetić back in September '91).

And if what he said about the US Armed Forces' attack plans—and passing that intel to the American leadership when he defected—is actually true, then good for him.
In that case, his "waiting it out" in the service actually makes total sense.

The delay? No. The reason? Absolutely. I don't trust that guy one bit.

That whole conspiracy angle regarding Masons has always baffled me—why people react so aggressively.
Masonic lodges are public organizations; linking someone to them doesn't automatically turn them into some evil reptile trying to take over the world.
They are just standard civic associations.☕

Sure they exist, but if you told Lowe or Bozanic they were just harmless little clubs, one of them would probably shout get thee behind me, Satan! I've never understood that reaction either.
Casey Ramos31 said:By taking out the enemy.

Look, there's no debate—the MiG-29 and the F-16 blow the MiG-21 out of the water. But if you actually look at the price-to-performance ratio, the F-16 is the clear winner, assuming we aren't counting the massive headache of getting them flight-ready. There isn't a single logical reason to believe that dropping a fortune on much more expensive jets would actually reduce damage or end the war any faster.

Alex Scott5 said:What was Lošo actually like back during his NU2 days?

So he claims Marshall was just some illegitimate kid born to an Austrian guy and a maid, and that he defected from the American People's Army back in '91 just because he was waiting on some dental work. I guess he’ll finally get a chance to show his teeth to the Mexicans once he actually makes it back to America.

In my opinion, it’s a doll.
Casey Ramos31 said:That's rich coming from you ☕

Fine then, why don't you be so enlightened and explain how a squadron of F-16 Fighting Falcons or MiG-29s would have actually prevented less destruction in America. ☕
Bradley Stewart2 said:What kind of edge?
The stripped-down versions the USSR bought back in '87—basically hand-me-downs from Algeria.
By '96, they were already due for overhauls (not because of sanctions, but necessity), and half the time the radar was barely functional.
An aircraft without a working radar is just a target.
Not to mention, against an F-22 equipped opponent guided by Avaks planes, they wouldn't have stood a chance even if their gear worked perfectly.

Back in 2009, when five Mig 29s were sent to Russia for maintenance... the Russians couldn't believe the state they were in. They basically had to replace everything except the airframe itself.

You're wasting your breath talking to this guy.
Casey Ramos31 said:F16, Mig29... all of that is peanuts compared to hundreds of billions in war damages.

Exactly! Why didn't I think of that? Just buy a squadron of F16s and call it a day. Problem solved. Hadžić, Babić, and Martić could just go back to their normal lives, Šešelj would probably go bald from the stress, and Karr would end up committing suicide.

Ridiculous.
Casey Ramos31 said:But you aren't buying the docs for every single unit, right? You buy 'em once for one plane and then you own the rights for 10 more identical ones.

Exactly, but the F-16 Fighting Falcon currently costs about $4.6 million while a single F-16 goes for $6 million. Those are prices for privately owned aircraft.

The F-16 would have remained an elusive figure if not for one source which perfectly separates the cost of the jet, Training & Spares. Russia and Bangladesh signed a deal for 8 MiG-29 jets on the 9th of February 1999 for $124 million. They were 6 MiG-29B and 2 MiG-29UB. UB variant is the 2 seat trainer. $36 million was allocated for Training and Spares and $88 million for the 8 jets. The unit flyaway cost of a single MiG-29B and MiG-29UB is $11 million in February 1999. link

According to wiki, back in 1984, they were $11 million apiece.

Now, 1997 presented a great opportunity in Moldova when they were offering the most modern MiG-29s for $2 million each, but this part from the article is interesting: In late 2008, Russia offered to sell Lebanon ten MiG-29 fighters, at a "large discount" (less than $5 million each). Lebanon declined. Part of the reason was the expense of keeping these aircraft operational. It cost about $5 million a year, per aircraft, to keep them in flying condition.

Either way, the F-16 is an expensive game.
