Losing interest in everything in Psychology ·
I just finished reading your post. Honestly, I feel exactly the same way you do. I remember hearing this piece of advice once: "What do you do when you’re struggling? And what do you do when you’re doing fine?" It’s basically telling you to lean into those coping mechanisms—do the things that pull you through the dark times, and keep doing the things that sustain you when life is good. For me, it’s always been drawing and listening to music; that’s honestly been my lifeline. Sometimes, life just hits you all at once—questions about love, purpose, or why things are the way they are—and the weight of it can be so heavy that you genuinely run out of words. The absolute worst thing you can do is shut everyone out. That’s how you lose your grip on everyday life. If you start withdrawing and stop talking to people for long stretches, it becomes your new "normal." Even three days of total silence is pushing it. All I can tell you is what works for me: whenever I sit down to draw while playing music (whether it’s upbeat or sad), I feel like I’m purging everything—all the heartache and frustration—right onto the page. Once it's out, I feel like myself again. I look at my art and see all that emotion captured there, and it actually makes me feel proud because I turned something heavy into something tangible. It’s all about balance. No one else can find that rhythm for you; you have to discover it yourself. Just a little heads-up: don't get *too* lost in your hobbies, or you'll forget to actually live your real life. Sending hugs, you've got this.

Down syndrome in Health ·
Hi everyone,
I have a quick question for anyone who might have gone through something similar. I just had my nuchal translucency scan today, and at only 13 weeks pregnant, they measured it at 5 mm. I think I read somewhere that there’s a chance this measurement could normalize during the second trimester. Given that, what are the actual odds that my baby has Darwinian syndrome? Has anyone else dealt with a high reading like this?
Hormone issues: What's your experience? in Health ·
I just went in for some blood work to check my hormone levels. Everything came back totally normal except for one thing: my Estradiol (E2) is at 11.6. The standard range for girls my age is usually 0.07 to 10.7. Since mine is slightly high, I was wondering if anyone here knows what this specific hormone actually does and if having it elevated is something I should be worried about? Just for context, I'm 15.
Thanks!

You’re clearly a pretty intense person, and honestly, you need a hobby that’s totally unconventional and extreme 😁
Dealing with low self-esteem in Psychology ·
Sometimes I honestly can’t believe my life feels like one of those gritty, depressing Lifetime movies they play on afternoon TV back in the day.🙂
I dealt with an abusive stepfather who was 55 years older than me, and when my mother—who struggled with schizophrenia and never hid how much she hated me—found out about it, she actually told me I was just a little brat trying to steal her husband...
I was only nine years old at the time...
So yeah, even now at 21, I’m constantly fighting these internal demons. Some mornings, getting out of bed feels like an impossible mountain to climb, even though I try not to dwell on the past too much (which might actually be a blessing in disguise). I guess I'm finally feeling the fallout from all the trauma I tried to push down during my teenage years...
On the bright side, I’m fully aware of what I’m dealing with—both the stuff I have now and the things that might catch up to me later—and I really think being part of a community like this will help me navigate it all.🙂
Best,
the pacifier-duda

Hey everyone!!!
I finally beat that brutal illness. Today, I’m a successful, independent businessman. It honestly stings some people that I made it this far, mostly because they can't wrap their heads around how I did it.
It wasn't luck or anything else—it was just pure grit and the ability to actually laugh in the face of my darkest moments.
That’s how you strip those demons of their power; once you stop fearing them, they lose their grip on you.
If you just drift through life taking the path of least resistance, you end up vulnerable to mental breakdowns—things like psychosis, schizophrenia, or paranoia, much like what I went through.
The secret is learning when to stop giving certain things your attention. Once you stop feeding the fire, the flame dies out.
For me, the first step was stepping outside my own ego and getting over that narcissistic mindset.
From there, I had to start building something on my own terms.
There is absolutely nothing more vital than reigniting your ambition and actually putting in the work.
Ten years ago, I was absolutely nobody.
Now, everything is different. Believe it or not, no one even realized what I was going through back then.

Kind of ironic, isn't it?

Goodbye, delusions and hallucinations!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe I'm a bit off base here...

I’m not really up to speed on what land is going for out in the Midwest lately... but I'm looking into it...
Does anyone have an idea of the rough prices per acre?
Also, how much can you actually make if you decide to lease the land out?
Thinking about trying drugs in Health ·
There are plenty of better ways to get an adrenaline rush, like cocaine—I’ve tried it a few times myself and honestly, I don’t feel any smarter for it. Besides, I heard most of what's on the street is just straight-up trash anyway; I tried it about 10 years ago. TRY GOING FOR A WILD MOTORCYCLE RIDE instead. It clears your head and gives you that same kind of feeling, just make sure you watch your back or pay attention to who's driving you. As for the drugs, I don't have much advice, but DON'T MESS THIS UP because you'll ruin your life. It's ALL CUT WITH SOME KIND OF TOXINS, and you're only 17

Neurological exam in Health ·
So, I finally called the Mayo Clinic and booked an appointment for Monday. I’m scheduled for a neurological exam $83, and then we'll see what else they need to do and what the damage to my wallet will be since I don't have coverage through them... the receptionists there are actually really sweet 😁

Angela Wright said:😲 That is absolutely terrible. I learned a little trick along the way: if you're dealing with this over a weekend, head straight to a neurological emergency ward. You tell them you're feeling miserable—mention the dizziness, the nausea, the vomiting—and they’ll fast-track you to the neurologist on call and get you straight into a CT scan. It might feel a bit manipulative, but it's nothing compared to how they just brushed you off earlier.😳

I wasn't expecting much from the ER to begin with, unfortunately... plus, I'm a terrible actress, so I doubt your suggestion would work on me😁 but thanks anyway! I was mostly wondering if anyone knew a good private clinic with a solid neurologist... I don't have a ton of cash to throw around, but I'd pay for a consultation and any extra tests if it meant getting answers. It's my health on the line, after all... there is absolutely no way I'm waiting a month just to see a specialist!

I went to the ER and they told me my blood pressure was totally fine. They just gave me two shots in the butt and told me to take it easy for a few days... then they sent me straight home! I felt dizzy all day long and even a little bit the next morning. I'm feeling okay now, but honestly, I'm pretty worried about it!
Neurological exam in Health ·
Hey everyone 👋 I’m new here and I’m honestly freaking out! A few days ago, I got hit with such intense dizziness that I ended up in the ER... they basically told me they couldn't figure out what was wrong and that I should follow up with my primary care doctor. So, I did, and he referred me to a neurologist... but the specialist can't see me for another month 😲
The thing is, I’m almost never sick—I have no idea where to turn to get this checked out sooner! Does anyone have any good advice? Maybe a recommendation for a private clinic or something similar? Help me out
