I can definitely get behind enjoying a cold beer, but I sure as hell wouldn't say the same about taking my meds.

P.S. That’s some killer graffiti.

.
As for those intrusive thoughts, look, I get it. They're messed up, but they're also actually pretty straightforward: the best thing you can do is just ignore them. When they pop up, try to view them as nothing out of the ordinary. So many people deal with these kinds of thoughts and still go on to live totally normal lives.
The goal is to find a way to stop giving them weight. If you can manage to brush them off, even just occasionally, they’ll eventually start to fade away.
(Though, honestly, smoking weed definitely makes that whole process a lot harder.)

Everyone deals with unwanted thoughts and feelings at some point, even if they aren't aware of it—especially stuff tied to anxiety. I’m not talking about physical fear, like that survival instinct that keeps you safe in a dangerous situation; I mean that pervasive, underlying psychological dread that holds us all back and keeps us stuck.

And there's a real issue there too. Let me give you an example...

June rolled around and I finished the school year with the grades I was hoping for. Everything seemed great, but while everyone else was out having the time of their lives, I was glued to my computer, scrolling the internet and pulling all-nighters. I try to tell myself to be happy—like, "Hey, you've got three months of summer before the next semester starts, just relax!" But I can't. I immediately spiral into a depression, thinking, "Why bother being happy when school starts again in three months and my free time is gone?" It’s like that in every single situation. I just instinctively flip everything over to the
absolute worst-case scenario...

Look, I know what I’m saying... this isn't the first time people have taken me the wrong way. But honestly? I'm done playing games. I just need one more "real" reason to snap, and that'll be it. Every single day is just another struggle. It sucks living in a place where nobody gets you... I don't even feel like typing anymore; there's no point. All I know is that next time, I'm going to do something massive.
How do I stop racing thoughts? in Psychology ·
I’ve said this before, and I’m saying it again tonight, but nobody seems to give a damn. People just steamroll right over you without listening... they won't hear a word I say. Honestly, I’m losing the motivation to even try. Part of me just wants to tell everyone to screw off and lock myself in my room. As long as I have the internet, I'll be fine. But once that's gone? Well, you know how it goes. It's over. I just don't have the energy to keep explaining myself,

From here on out, I’m done acting like my usual self around them. That means no more joking around, no more messing about, and no more being the life of the party—stuff I used to do both for others and just for fun. If that doesn't fly with them, then we can just call it quits for good. I'm tapped out.

Words can't even describe what I'm feeling right now... I am at my absolute breaking point. If one more thing goes wrong, I am going to snap. I'm trying everything I can to keep this rage under control, but I don't know how much longer I can hold it in.
How do I stop racing thoughts? in Psychology ·
Everything just went south again today... honestly, I don't know how much longer I can deal with this. I'm so close to finally losing my mind. Most people around me—everyone from family to old friends and acquaintances—just doesn't get my sense of humor. They take everything way too seriously and get offended instantly. Like, come on, we’ve known each other for years and they still don't realize I'm just kidding around. So now what? Now I'm expected to apologize for something that was clearly just a joke, even though apparently it wasn't "funny" enough for THEM. God, life is exhausting...
Just hanging in there... I feel like I swallowed a shovel and a bucket of tennis balls.

No, no, and absolutely not. If things go south—God forbid—then we can talk.

Here’s my take on this: since the guy who ended up killing them (was it John or Tom?) was such an aggressive homophobe—getting all drunk and creepy with Brandon before finally raping Brandon/Teena—I’d say he might actually be a closeted homosexual. It feels like he was struggling with his own identity and lashed out through that assault just to prove to himself that his attraction to Brandon wasn't about gender, but rather convinced himself he was reacting to a woman.
Ugh, I totally rambled there, but I hope you guys catch my drift...
Besides, plenty of studies suggest that extreme homophobia—especially when it reaches the level of being willing to kill—is often just a way for people to rationalize and deny their own latent homosexuality.

In those kinds of small-town, old-fashioned areas, most people are pretty homophobic. And honestly, it goes even deeper than that. 😁

Why else would they assault her?
Their whole goal was just to humiliate her in every possible way before erasing any trace of what they did—and her entirely—because her very existence felt like a threat to theirs.
That’s how they perceived it.
So why kill her at all?
Monsters don't die; you take out whoever poses a threat to you.

If you actually clicked the link I posted, you'd see the real reason she was killed was to keep her from testifying against them, not because of her sexuality (which, by the way, someone rightly pointed out wasn't even the case). This movie is a creative interpretation of actual events, so it's totally normal for some details to be tweaked. So, are we here to analyze the movie and its plot, or are we debating the actual true crime case?
Allergic to belt buckles? in Health ·
Every single belt with a metal buckle that touches my bare skin even a tiny bit triggers a rash and leaves me incredibly itchy. I haven't been able to find a belt with a genuine sterling silver buckle anywhere, and honestly, who knows how much a custom one would even run me? So, what’s the move here? Should I try some kind of ointment? Maybe coat the buckle in something? What? (It’s way too hot for undershirts, if that was anyone's first thought).

Walter Myers4 said:I find it really interesting how this guy, after he finally kills her, keeps shooting at her several times and even stabs her with a knife.
It’s almost like her being a lesbian threatened his masculinity so much.
Really fascinating stuff.

From what I've read, one guy stabbed her while the other shot her (though in reality, three people were involved). Since their testimonies don't actually line up, we're pretty much just left guessing.
Personally, I don't think it was about bruised egos or masculinity—it felt more like they just saw Teena as a monster. But then again...😕

Ugh... honestly, I could only stomach the highlights. I ended up turning it off about two-thirds of the way through because I already knew exactly what was coming. 😢I remember crying my eyes out when I first saw it, but I was much younger back then. Maybe I could handle it now. Still...
The real question is: who actually wants to dive into the full story?

How do I stop racing thoughts? in Psychology ·
...here I go again... Honestly, I don't have any issues when it comes to women. I’m the type who loves joking around and keeping things lighthearted whenever I'm out on the town, you know? But man, the boredom and the loneliness are killing me. I spend way too much time stuck in my own head because there's just nothing to do. And look, if I wanted to find a girlfriend right now, I could—it wouldn't be hard. But I made a decision for myself: until I've got my finances in order, I'm staying celibate. It's just how it is for now.
She’s an incredible woman—major props to her. But honestly, I bet she knew exactly what was coming, because there’s no way she would have said a single word about it if she hadn't. 😲
How do I become an early bird? in Health ·
Set up a coffee date at 8:00 AM in the neighborhood with a fellow early bird. That’s just how I roll—it’s become a total habit for me, and it works perfectly for the other person who actually enjoys getting an early start too.🙂
