'Dead Reckoning' featuring Boggy... a total noir classic.

Also, can't forget 'Bambi' by Walt Disney.
We are still on the hunt for a female gynecologist. Any recommendations? Thanks!!!

A burger without onions?! You're crazy! Bite into that damn burger properly, for crying out loud!

If you go into a new album already convinced it's just mindless noise and that everyone who likes it is totally unhinged, you're probably never going to enjoy it.
Personally, I don't think music defines who someone is, but I definitely gravitate toward people with similar tastes. At the very least, it gives us something to talk about right off the bat.

I honestly can't wrap my head around what's so "wrong" with crazy people that this kind of music is actually good to them.😛
Can someone from that crowd actually explain to me what the appeal is?
Maybe if you actually gave it a shot without all those preconceived notions, you might actually get it.

Everyone, just chill out—no need to panic here...
Everything has some kind of toxin in it; honestly, in this day and age, you can't avoid toxins entirely.
But seriously... what's next? Are we just going to stop walking outside because we might get hit by a car? Man... we deal with such ridiculous nonsense every single day about what's "unhealthy." Now people are acting like we shouldn't even eat food because there are certain ingredients in gum they claim are toxic... I mean, come on, are we just supposed to stop eating altogether? Nothing is perfectly healthy; everyone has a different opinion on it...
🙄 😁 😁
Everyone, just relax—no need to panic here...
Everything has some level of toxicity; in this day and age, it’s almost impossible to avoid toxins entirely.
But,
the real issue is dosage
some people are more sensitive to substance X while others aren't, or someone might be allergic to Y while someone else isn't...
you really need to pay attention to your own body and physiology, and actually listen to what it's telling you 😉 🙂
What can I even say? I guess there are just some things I have to let go of. Regardless, thanks for looking out for me and helping me work through this!
"The real question is whether it’s even worth hanging out with highly intelligent people at all. Every time I look around, it seems like they just use those massive Google scores to win petty arguments and manipulate others." [/B]
Man, I honestly don't get why you're so bitter. Look at where you are... you've got a wife, a stable life, everything's sorted
, which means you've already won your battles.
Just look forward and enjoy your life. Stop worrying about saving the whole world. 🙂

Why can't you just embrace being an ordinary, normal guy? Forget about what happened before—it sounds like things were rough, clearly, but it’s in the past now.
🙂
The thing is, I have a hard time letting certain things go. I really tried to push back against how my family treated me, trying to hold my own and be seen as their equal. Honestly, there was more than just verbal stuff—sometimes it turned physical, and it was pretty brutal. They’d just swing at me for no reason, like "let's go boxing," or land a heavy blow... and nobody wants to step in to help because they don't have time for my "nonsense" or my "complaining." It was always, "It was just an accident, and besides, it's your own fault for not watching your head." Because of how they acted—even if it wasn't constant, mostly they just threatened me or yelled, accusing me of getting special treatment while "they have to struggle"—I used to think that, at the very least, I was their intellectual equal.
Here’s my story. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to read this, and especially to those who take the time to reply.
I was born over thirty years ago into a family of six—my parents, two much older brothers, my grandmother, and myself. My childhood was pretty traumatic, to be honest. Aside from my grandma, everyone in the house treated me like I was incredibly dim-witted and incapable.
For instance, back in school, my grades hovered around a C or D average, while my brothers were straight-A students. My dad used to say he couldn't even trust me with the simplest task because I’d inevitably mess it up. There was also a lot of jealousy involved. I remember once when my parents bought me a model airplane kit to build (one of those classic Revelle sets you can still find today), my brother fought them on it, saying they were just throwing money away because I wouldn't be able to put it together anyway. To "help," my parents made him do it for me—and since he was actually experienced, he did. I remember counting his collection once; he had 117 models!
Well... years have passed since then. My parents moved out, taking me along with them, and my grandma passed away. My brothers graduated from Ivy League schools, climbed the corporate ladder, and started families of their own. My oldest brother took the Mensa test and scored an IQ of 148. My middle brother constantly brags about even higher scores, and apparently, his wife has an IQ of 160. My dad became a tenured professor at a major university, and his brother is an executive at a massive corporation...
... meanwhile, I finished school (with slightly better grades than before) and graduated from a mid-tier college. I managed to pick up a few awards from the university, but when my family congratulated me, the way they said it made it crystal clear they were actually mocking me.
Anyway, I eventually managed to get some distance from my parents and moved out. I found a girlfriend, we live together, and nowadays, I barely even speak to my parents or brothers.
A few months ago, I decided to go take the Mensa test. I went in feeling pretty confident, thinking the idea that I was significantly less intelligent than my brothers and the rest of my family was just nonsense...
... but the result didn't meet my expectations: 132. The letter from Mensa stated that the score was above average, placing me in the 92nd percentile (meaning I performed better than 92% of people). If I weren't surrounded by my current circle, I might be satisfied, but for me, it’s a disappointment because it's still nowhere near the level of my "terminator" relatives.
Is it possible they bullied and humiliated me all those years just because of that intelligence gap? Just a side note: I saw a psychiatrist once for some personal issues, but back then, I was convinced I couldn't possibly be that much less intelligent than my brothers. Even then, I got the impression the doctor was low-key laughing at me.
Should I go for testing one more time, just to be sure? Maybe try practicing IQ test prep questions? I don't know, I'm questioning the point of it all. Is there any sense in trying to reintegrate into the family? And honestly, does it even make sense to hang out with highly intelligent people, seeing how they seem to use their massive IQs: primarily as weapons in interpersonal power struggles.
Is Bingula actually retiring??? Are you kidding me! I finally just got settled into my life here... what am I supposed to do now???
There is absolutely no way I would step foot in a gynecologist's office if he were the last man on Earth. I have heard way too many stories about his verbal insults and all that sexist nonsense he spews. One friend of mine went in for emergency contraception, and he basically lectured her on what she thinks she's doing—she was in her twenties, not a child—telling her she should be at home playing housewife instead of wandering around out in the world. Honestly, I think I’d just leave him hanging. Seriously.
🙏 🙏
Guys, I really need some clarity here. In X-Men 2, did Wolverine actually bring himself back to life, or was Rogue's power involved in that? If he just resurrected himself, how is it even possible to kill him?
Thanks 🙏 🙏
Robert Cooper41 said:I mean, Steven Soderbergh was even in the jury... but I just don't get why they'd bring in Meg Ryan and those Bollywood stars. The whole program is supposed to be focused on "art house" cinema, so how does it make sense to have a mainstream actress and a Bollywood icon deciding the awards?!? I get the need for publicity, but still... 🙄
Now you're just making excuses 😉 😛 🙂
Amélie
The Others
Vanilla Sky
I honestly don't get why people keep grouping Tanović together with some Indian actress or Meg Ryan. It makes zero sense. 😕
On a side note, I actually thought Intimacy was a fantastic movie. 🙂 🙂
Maybe you have to be a woman to truly wrap your head around it... 😉 😛 😳 🙂
driftingowl27 said:By the way, word is that for Nicole Kidman's $10 million fee back then, the bulk of it was allegedly covered by the Danish Ministry of Culture. What a total scandal—they could have used that money to fund those Dogma films of theirs, maybe one would actually turn out decent....🙄
Where are you even getting that info about Nicole Kidman making $10 million for Dogville?
I was reading an interview with Lars recently where he mentioned she took a symbolic amount... something like 10 times less than her usual per-movie rate. Apparently, working with Lars had always been a dream of hers after seeing Lomeci val.... so she agreed to a huge pay cut jedino kaj jedva.
The only thing I'm actually looking forward to at the Cannes festival is the new Michael Haneke 🙂)) and the new Samir film 🙂 👋
Susan Wright12 said:Out of all of them, Nine Queens is the only one I actually enjoyed. The absolute worst was Sex and Lucia.
Oh, right—and Gosford Park. It was decent, but that’s from a couple of years back.
Ugh, I saw Nine Queens at a film festival about two years ago and felt like the whole thing was just a calculated rip-off. It feels like a blatant imitation of Mamet, or even Hill’s "The Sting"—though let's be honest, Hill totally copied Ritchie...
The movie is entertaining enough if you aren't familiar with Mamet or Hill... but for me, by the third act, it was so exhausting I was actually looking for the nearest exit...
Bielinsky definitely has potential, but if he's just trying to be a cheap Mamet clone, he's never going to make it...
I actually thought Sex and Lucia was one of the better films from last year... I generally love Almodóvar's work.🙂))
Personally, my favorite film of 2002 was Talk to Her.🙂)) My least favorite was Road to Perdition.🙂
What kind of movies have you guys even been watching if you think Malick's "Days of Heaven" is some boring, uninteresting flick? 😕 🙄
