Look, regarding clones—honestly, you can have as many accounts as your heart desires, I guess, but like dawn said, you aren't allowed to go posting under two different handles within the same thread. Also, if one of your accounts happens to be banned, you're pretty much barred from posting at all, regardless of what other names you're using.
If someone actually wants to switch over and use a fresh handle on a thread where they were previously active under an old one, they've gotta give the mods a heads-up first, letting them know the old account is retired and they'll be sticking to the new one for that discussion from here on out.

I was actually chewing on that same idea myself, and now that I'm looking over your suggestion, I think we definitely need to look into tweaking the vBulletin setup down the road to accommodate something like this.

Everyone gets one shot at a change. I mean, wouldn't it be way better if you just came up with a nickname correction without adding those numbers at the end? The name looks so much cleaner that way, plus once we swap it, it stays permanent. 🙂

Nah, it’s definitely not set up that way by default. I mean, it’s all down to how the server is configured, you know? Nobody just flips a switch and leaves it on like that; it’s just how things are built, I guess.
Look, this thread is already fifty pages deep with over a thousand posts, and right above yours, someone actually put together this massive breakdown about all the rule changes and what you need to watch out for when suggesting updates. They even linked back to the very first post, and the title literally says Read the first post! But then you go and suggest a change that asks for an @ symbol, which is totally against the rules—if you’d just taken a second to read that opening post, you’d know exactly what’s allowed and what isn't.
So, I’m just gonna drop the link to the first post right here. Do me a favor and actually click on it, get through the guidelines, and then maybe come back with a suggestion that actually fits 🙂
