I mean, look, some people are gonna jump in and some aren't, it's just how it goes. 🙂 Like casualcobra5 was saying once, these prizes aren't really the main point, they're more like a little "nod" or maybe just a tiny nudge to get people typing. I mean, if you actually live and breathe horror, you’re gonna sit down and write a review whether there’s a prize attached or not—and honestly, we've seen plenty of those anyway. Besides, what’s the big deal? All you're doing is carving out maybe thirty minutes or an hour of your free time to jot down your thoughts on a horror flick you watched. Nobody is asking you to write some twenty-page academic dissertation or anything crazy like that; we just want a quick take from a fellow horror fan about a movie, and that’s pretty much it 🙂
Look, nobody’s going to get their feelings hurt over this, so there's really no need to get worked up about it 🙂
I’m just saying, horror fans usually actually want to engage with this kind of stuff rather than just grabbing a movie and calling it a day. It seems like most people wrap up their reviews by basically begging to have 😁 included if they make the shortlist, though I did see a few folks who don't even care about the actual film—they just sent in enough content just to say they participated, I guess.
Anyway, I’ll take your point into consideration and pass it along 😉

It's a total long shot, I guess, but man, I'm really holding out hope that lady luck finally decides to swing my way this time.🙂
I’m crossing my fingers for you! 😉
Lord of Terror said:I mean, look, my laziness is probably gonna catch up with me eventually, which is just how it goes, I guess, but maybe there’s still a slim chance I might actually show up for this thing. Not that the prize is really blowing my mind or anything, though, so I don't know, I'm honestly not feeling particularly drawn to it. 😁
So you’re one of those people, huh? Like, does it even matter if you show up or not? I guess it’s kind of pointless to even bother participating if that's how you're gonna play it, maybe. 🙂 I mean, honestly, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to snag something just for participating, especially if you actually turn in a decent review, I guess. 🙂
silvertiger11 said:Honestly, this is hands down the absolute worst giveaway I’ve seen in ages, like, seriously... it kind of reminds me of that one insane sweepstakes where the grand prize was just a two-person trip to Chernobyl. Just a total disaster from start to finish, I guess.
I mean, I guess you could only really pull off a move like picking Carrie if the competition was absolute garbage, you know? Like, if everyone else in the race is totally out of their league, then sure, maybe that's a viable play. But otherwise? Probably not. 🙂
I mean, I totally missed that part in the first post where it says nobody's actually being forced to join this giveaway or anything, so I guess I'll just go with that whole "don't look a gift horse in the mouth" thing, you know? 🙂.
Hey everyone, just a quick heads-up here. When you're sending over an address along with your review, please make sure you include the actual, full street address where we can ship the movie to you; just listing the city you're in isn't really going to cut it 🙂 I've been seeing way too many reviews coming in with nothing but a name and a city mentioned.
I didn't even mean it like 😁 I just hope they don't totally butcher it with some crappy remake and mess up everything that made it good 😁
Not at all. 🙂
Honestly, we could probably start a massive debate right now and end up drifting way off topic 😁. I guess you either dig a certain role or you don't, simple as that. It’s not like it’s my absolute favorite thing ever, but man, it was pretty solid 🙂
And hey, if you're actually into horror movies, maybe you should just write up a review for one of your favorites—doesn't even have to be some huge "classic" 😬
Man, you just reminded me of something I totally missed in that first post, but basically, the author of the top review gets to pick one out of the five movies, then the winner of the second review picks from the remaining four, the third one takes one from the three left, and so on...
The editor and two of the site's reviewers are the ones who actually pick the top 5 reviews that end up winning prizes.
First off, massive props for putting together a giveaway like this specifically for us horror junkies. I'm jumping in with a ton of excitement and, I don't know, maybe a little hope that I might actually snag a prize, but honestly, just being part of it is what matters most.
Exactly, and if I'm being honest, we really could use more contests like this tailored for the horror crowd, which, judging by how much people are talking about this thread, is actually pretty huge.🙂
Rebecca Harris said:This is totally off-topic, but since when did Black Swan become some kind of cult horror classic? 😕
I mean, I guess they might be thinking of Carrie, but honestly, I'm just copy-pasting stuff from a game here. Carrie is definitely one of those cult horror hits that’s actually worth sitting through—I feel like most people have already seen it, but it wouldn't hurt to have it in your DVD collection, I suppose. 😁 There's a remake coming out in November too, and I'm kind of curious to see if it actually holds up to the original quality or if it's just going to be a dud.😉
Patrick Martin said:I watched that Shutter remake too, but man, the original is way better. Hopkins is great on his own, and I've heard pretty good things about Black Swan. Now I see there's an One Missed Call remake too, but I'd say stick to the original Chakushin truth.
True, Black Swan is excellent and definitely has those horror elements, even if it leans more toward mystery, so I guess it fits the category somehow. I actually rewatched it the other day and Natalie Portman is just incredible.
Patrick Martin said:They aren't bad movies. I haven't seen Black Swan, Shutter is just the American remake, and I haven't checked out Hopkins yet either. Carrie and One Missed Call are great.
Actually, some reviewer was checking out The Rite the other day and posted a review, so maybe give The Rite / Black Swan (2011) a look.
Hey there, fellow horror fans and everyone hanging out on the forums. 😁
IMDb So, we’re teaming up with Paramount Pictures to give you guys a shot at winning some DVDs of absolute horror classics. I mean, we're talking about stuff that actually holds up, right? Like, you've got the original Carrie from '76, which, honestly, still hits just as hard today as it did back then—it's basically always on some top ten list somewhere. Then there's the heavy hitters like Black Swan, Shutter, One Missed Call, and even that Hopkins flick, The Rite. It's a pretty solid lineup, I guess, if you're into that kind of thing.
So, look, if you want a shot at winning, all you really have to do is get one horror movie review over to us by April 25th—just pick whatever flick you feel like reviewing, I guess—and then five of the luckiest people out there are gonna walk away with a horror movie on DVD.
Movies you could actually win:
The Rite
Black Swan
Ghost Image (Shutter)
So, I was thinking about Carrie from '76 again, and honestly, man, it’s just one of those movies that stays with you, you know? It’s heavy. Like, really heavy. I guess if you haven't seen it, you're seriously missing out on a total masterpiece of psychological tension. It's not just some cheap jump-scare flick; it’s actually deeply unsettling because of how much it gets under your skin. I mean, looking back at it through the lens of something like IMDb, you can see why people still obsess over it decades later. It’s just... intense. Maybe it's the way it handles that whole feeling of being an outsider, or maybe it's just the sheer chaos of the ending, but either way, it hits hard. I don't know, I could ramble about this for hours, but yeah, it's a classic for a reason.
One Missed Call (2008)
Just send over your review along with your details—you know, like your First and Last Name and your home address—to this email:
IMDb
We’re gonna shoot an email over to the winners to let them know, and then we'll just post the whole list right here on our site! Good luck!
Check out more details about the giveaway over at: One review per movie!
So you've started grouping the mods into little "factions" and "teams," which honestly just feels totally pointless. I mean, look, a moderator is still just a regular user on Reddit at the end of the day, so they have every right to jump into threads and chat like anyone else—which is exactly what I’ve been doing and what I’ll keep doing. As for ambermason16 and Beyoncé, if you ask me, they aren't really engaging in these threads as active community members, but rather strictly acting in their capacity as moderators, so this whole argument about bias doesn't really hold any water. And you should probably keep in mind that the higher-ups above the mod team see your canned, repetitive posts, and they see the deleted ones too, so they're definitely aware of any partiality going on.
And just because you were only posting in one specific thread doesn't mean you can't get flagged for the entire sub-forum where that thread lives. You broke the rules to the point where a penalty was warranted, regardless of whether you trashed ten different threads in the sub-forum or just focused all your energy on one.
Starting a new thread to complain about bias every two or three months isn't a solution, and it sure as hell isn't going to speed things up if someone actually does get removed. Anyway, that's my two cents on the matter.
wiredwolf442, you didn't just get banned out of nowhere or some random act of God.
Look, people kept telling you—repeatedly, I might add—to quit picking fights with everyone on Reddit and to stop being such a relentless troll over in the soap factory threads, especially whenever the topic of Suleiman the Magnificent came up. Beyond the official warnings you got via bans—and that wasn't just coming from one mod, but from the entire moderation team running the soap factory section (ambermason16, Walter Brown30, and myself)—you were also warned several times through direct messages.
When we’re actually considering banning a user, the protocol is to give them a fair heads-up first, basically saying, "Hey, knock it off or you're getting banned," so you can't really claim you weren't warned, because you definitely were, and more than once.
Now, I get that you might feel one moderator is being biased—that happens, I guess—but claiming the entire moderation team is biased, specifically the exact same group of people who were constantly handing you bans before this final move, just doesn't hold any water.
And honestly, let's not forget you were making burner accounts, sending insulting DMs, and all that other stuff.
Wait, is Julius Caesar actually your handle or what? If it is, you probably need to submit a request to change it from that specific account. The rule about needing a certain number of posts was scrapped a while back. You can actually ask for a name change regardless of how much you've posted now. All the updated rules are sitting right there in the first post if you care to look.
Regarding that specific change you mentioned: C@es@r-Spele@us... honestly, once you've put it out there like that, it’s a no-go, because they aren't even close enough to be considered similar. As for the email situation, you can only link one handle to a single email address. If you're trying to use an email that's already tied to an account to make a new one, I guess you just have to go into the old profile, swap its email out for something else, and then that "old" address is free to use again for the new setup.
Look, this like button has been sitting right there for ages, so I'm telling you, this whole mess with the template crashing has absolutely nothing to do with it 🙂
If you’re looking to use a GIF for your avatar, you really have to be careful about the dimensions 🙂 Anything works fine for an animation. Just drop the GIF—or whatever animation you're trying to use—right here, and I guess I can shrink it down for you if you don't really know how to do that stuff yourself.
Did you ever get a chance to hit up Nica with that link to the post where I gave the okay for the change? Maybe just shoot it over to her again if it's been a while—I mean, maybe the DM didn't go through or something, so no biggie, but let's just try not to blow up her inbox all at once, okay?🙂
