Religion PDF: Testing the argument on same-sex communities in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Anthony Perez9 said:The only reason people keep whining about how same-sex relationships are basically incest is because they’re desperately trying to manufacture some kind of fake disgust toward it. It’s just that tired "it's all the same" logic, along with those other even grosser "comparisons" people try to pull... ☕

Look, plenty of folks—myself included—feel a natural gut reaction against same-sex stuff, so nobody needs to try and force anything on anyone in that department.
My main goal when I bring up that comparison is really just to point out how inconsistent some people are being! To me, if you're totally fine with homosexual relationships, then there’s honestly no reason why you wouldn't also be okay with incestuous ones (since they don't result in kids) or even polygamy. You guys set the bar for tolerance so high yourselves! There’s really no logical reason to draw a line in the sand and say, "Okay, this group fits in my circle of tolerance, but that group doesn't."
So why the discrimination? 😁 People just love each other! Why does it matter what they’re doing behind their own four walls? Now you want to go peeking into their bedrooms and deciding who they can or can't be with? I mean... in what actual way are they threatening you or getting in your way? (Seriously, that's the best argument I've ever heard from the pro-gay side, and I truly don't have a sensible comeback for it!) Etc.

silvertiger11 said:So, look: you have two people who love each other, live together, and want to make their commitment official under the law. The only actual difference is that one is gay and the other is straight.

Where on earth is the logic that leads anyone to claim this involves incest?
By that ridiculous reasoning, should we just ban marriage for everyone? After all, we might run into a brother and sister who actually want to tie the knot.
The only real connection between these two scenarios is that society chooses to be outraged by both.

You can actually have gay incest too🤷

Actually, you can't—because it's strictly illegal and totally taboo in our society. Just like how non-incestuous gay relationships were viewed until a certain point in history. See the connection now?

And just like that, we’ve spiraled into debating incest and homosexuality on the FBI forum :rofl

Christian Torres3 said:How many real-life examples do you actually have of brothers or sisters wanting to legalize their living situation?

What a f***ing garbage argument.

Look, it doesn't even matter—one single pair is enough to prove the point. Like, personally, I don't know a single gay person in my actual day-to-day life, but so what? Maybe they're more visible in some "more advanced" parts of the US. Honestly, if it were socially acceptable and legal here, plenty of people might finally come out of the closet. How would you even know for sure?

steelskipper5 said:Look, if we could actually discuss this in a rational, argued, and civilized way, then the "argument" wouldn't be banned in the first place. ☕

Honestly, this is such a helpful little realization for me—I’m definitely gonna jot this explanation down somewhere for future reference! 😉

Thanks!

Sam Alvarez4 said:I am speaking strictly for myself.

If I say, "The fact that people live together and love one another should be enough to allow them to enter into a civil marriage," I am inherently assuming we are talking about consenting adults who share no close blood relation.
The latter—incest—would only cross a person's mind if they had a truly warped psyche.

Okay, listen, for some people, an "a priori" assumption also implies we're talking about straight couples, too!

And regarding that "warped psyche" thing—well, back in the day (like, up until 1978 or whenever), homosexuality was actually officially labeled as having a warped psyche, and honestly, plenty of people still see it that way today. 🤷

Anyway, from what I gather, on the Politics and Religion forum, it's forbidden to draw parallels between incest and homosexuality. So, I'm curious—if we can't talk about it there, where on earth *can* we actually have a civilized debate or argue the point? Like, over on the FBI forum 😕

Looking for a new LCD monitor - any recommendations? in Computer Peripherals ·
http://www.nabava.net/trazilica.php?...acer+s220hqlbd

So, check this one out—it’s a 21.5'' model, but honestly? It recently crushed the competition over at Facebook and took the top spot hands down. People are saying it really stands out from all the other boring monitors out there. It was actually my number one pick too! But, uh, I ended up going with the ABC i2353 instead... and man, looking back now, I am totally kicking myself for that choice.
Man, if I were the one putting this poll together, I totally would've gone with Keanu Reeves vs. Kevin Spacey.
I don't know, there’s just something about those two that feels oddly similar to me, you know?😕

Anyway, I ended up voting for Edward Norton—mostly because I just can't get enough of "The Grifters" and "Generation X."🙏
Saw II in Movies ·
I gotta say, the first part actually blew me away—it was surprisingly good!
I haven't even had the chance to dive into the second one yet, but some guy at a bar already spilled the beans to my buddy about who killed his mom...😠 🙂
Damson said:So, I finally sat down yesterday and powered through Terminator 3! 😁 I gotta admit, though—the thing is just absolutely packed with spectacular scenes! 🙂

I am totally with you on Terminator! Honestly, if we're talking about top-tier stuff, I’d definitely throw Matrix into that mix too—it's such a trip—and hey, Black Hawk Down is honestly a banger as well. Not something to sleep on at all!
Oh man, you also have to check out that one scene in Apocalypse Now where they drop the napalm—seriously, the whole room just shakes!
The Cave in Movies ·
restlesslynx said:This movie hits basically the same beats as The Descent (you know, cave explorers getting trapped by creatures living underground), and even though everyone on IMDb raves about Descent while Cave gets pretty mediocre reviews, I actually felt the exact opposite! I gave Descent a 4/10—honestly, it was kind of a slog and I was just counting down the minutes until it ended—but Cave? I’d give that an 8/10! It’s seriously good! It’s got everything you want in a survival adventure/horror flick... awesome, capable characters (Jack, Tyler, Top...), legit monsters, great fights, crazy stunts, and this claustrophobic vibe that doesn't leave you totally lost (like, there's darkness and they don't always know who is who or where they're headed, but the movie keeps it clear enough)... As they push through the cavern, nowhere feels like a repetitive déjà vu; one minute they're in this massive hall, then they're hitting an underwater tunnel, then a steep ledge, then an icy cliffside... you can tell they weren't just filming on some tiny 100sq ft set 👍, and honestly, the cave itself looks totally believable—it's actually spectacular at times! I find it hard to believe any of this was shot in a studio because nothing felt fake or artificial to me. Plus, the whole origin story of the monsters is super intriguing, and the ending caught me totally off guard in the best way possible. My only question is what that V. S. S. F. thing meant if anyone else caught it... 🙂 Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a thrilling adventure movie! 👍

Man, I have a completely different take on this one.
Basically, my advice to everyone is to steer clear of this one like the plague. 👍
Independence Day (1996) in Movies ·
Honestly, this is one of those movies I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve rewatched—which pretty much says everything about how much I love it.

I mean, obviously, I wasn't about to miss my chance to dive back in this time around, either😁.

The atmosphere in this flick is just unbeatable (okay, fine, let’s just gloss over the ending because it's kind of ridiculous, but whatever...).

Man, those ships look absolutely magnificent, and honestly, they still hold up so well even today...🙏🙏

Zachary Rodriguez32 said:I used to know—and I can still pull it off if I really try—that when I’m crossing a crosswalk, I have to stick strictly to those white stripes. It was the same deal with shadows; I knew I had to make sure I wasn't stepping on anyone else's shadow, and honestly, I still try to do that (just maybe not as obsessively as I used to). 😁

As far as those floor tiles go, I used to be so hyper-focused on making sure my feet landed perfectly inside the squares, but it wasn't just some simple thing... 😬
Check out the attachment... you're looking at a literal floor plan (basically a map of the ground 😁) showing where all those squares are. I’m moving from the bottom of the image toward the top. "R" stands for right foot steps, and "L" is for left foot steps.

Obviously, I don't walk on sidewalk tiles like that anymore... the only things—let's call them what they are, obsessions—that I still struggle with are avoiding people's shadows and being careful on crosswalks, but even then, it happens SUPER RARELY now.

Man, we really are something else, aren't we?😵😬

I actually try to "catch" a specific rhythm with my stride so that every single step lands perfectly within the square—you know, keeping the steps totally even. Usually, that ends up with me basically taking giant, goofy strides through the city🤣
But get this—I've been walking around all week without even "thinking" about where I'm stepping. So yeah, basically👋

Why is everyone freaking out about doors so much?😕 Honestly, I don't even bother locking mine👍.
Seriously guys, focus on the actual lines😵😬. Like, I’ve reached the point where I’m practically stepping over my own shadows now🤣

e afro, that’s just because you clearly haven't trained your eyes yet😉
Where on earth did you borrow that from? A local video rental shop or something?

If you really want, I can lend you an actual masterpiece of a film instead
OCD: General Discussion Thread in Psychology & Therapy ·
Come on guys, don't scare me like that!😁

Look, I could stop doing this whenever I felt like it—honestly—but it’s just become such a part of who I am since I've been at it for so long. It's kind of like how I bite my nails🙄. I remember this one girl I used to date told me she absolutely hated when I did that, so I actually quit for a while. But then we broke up, I went right back to it, and yep, here I am still biting them today😬.
But hey, just as an example, you can do anything if you really put your mind to it😳.
wearyotter24 said:I do that sometimes too—especially if the sidewalk is made of tiles,

Hey everyone, what's up!👋

I don't hang out in this corner of the forum all that much, so I’m honestly not sure if this—let's call it a "thing"—has already been brought up before. If it has, please don't come for me, mods! 😬

So, here's the deal: whenever I'm walking down the street, I go out of my way to avoid stepping on the cracks. 😵
You know how it is—sidewalks can be absolute death traps sometimes, whether it's because they're old or just built with cheap materials, and they end up covered in these deep grooves or lines. So there I am, hopping around and maneuvering like a total maniac—basically making a complete fool of myself—just so I don't land on a line.
I've been doing this since I was a little kid. At first, it was just a game, but now? It's definitely a full-blown habit.
It even got to the point where I started avoiding lines on playground courts, which actually messed up my game sometimes! 🤣
For the longest time, I was convinced I was just being weirdly obsessive, but then I watched that movie with Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt "As Good as It Gets" and realized the main character deals with similar "quirks." Okay, granted, he's a pretty intense guy—he basically avoids sidewalks where you *can't* help but hit a crack—but hey, at the rate I'm going, I might actually reach his level of eccentricity! 🤣.

So, does this "disorder" actually have a fancy professional name? Like, is this even considered a real thing in that category?

Michael Anderson10 said:I mean, seriously, what is life even worth if you think Three Colors is the absolute peak of cinema? Or if you're out here acting like some random trash movie is a masterpiece—or worse, if you're obsessed with those moody noir films? Like, come on! 🤮

😂
Man, you nailed that! Short, sweet, and straight to the point—I love it!🙏🙏

All jokes aside, here's one that everyone knows: "There's no accounting for taste."😉
I’ve always found this series absolutely hilarious—like, I swear, I don't think movies could ever get any stupider than these! It's just pure, ridiculous fun. On the flip side, though, things like "Blank pistol," "The Wayans brothers' stuff," and those other schemes never really landed for me... I actually avoided them like the plague!
Look, the bottom line is that those movies make a killing at the Box Office... usually!

Oh, it's totally fine! No worries at all.
My doctor actually mentioned over the phone that it stands for Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia—or CAH for short. 😕

Anyway, thanks a million to everyone for sharing those links! 😘

Hey everyone, what's up!👋 So, look—I haven’t really had any reason to jump in here and post until now (thankfully!), but here we go:
My niece just got diagnosed with this specific growth disorder—apparently, it’s all tied to some kind of hormone imbalance—and her doctors suggested I do a little digging online to see if I could find anything helpful. But honestly? I’m hitting a total brick wall. I can't seem to find much actual info on this particular condition anywhere. Since I know there are a ton of super smart, highly educated folks in this group, I was hoping I could tap into that collective brainpower! If anyone could point me toward a solid resource, drop a helpful link, or even just break down what this actually means in plain English, I would be seriously grateful.😕

Thanks a million!
