What do you want to leave behind when you're gone? in Miscellaneous ·
I just want to leave behind a positive memory for those who are still around and actually knew me. That’s really all there is to it.
If I could achieve that, it would be my greatest sense of fulfillment.
I tend to look at it this way: if I could somehow revisit the past and overhear people talking about what a good, reliable friend I was, I’d feel like my mission here on Earth was complete. That legacy is exactly what I’ve been striving for.
Kyle Vaughn8 said:We all know that one person who just can't seem to keep it clean—always leaning into the dirty jokes or coarse language, right?

What’s your take on people like that? You know, the ones who constantly push the envelope with vulgarity or constant sexual innuendos just to get a reaction out of the group?
What kind of personality does that actually point to, and how do you guys really feel when you're hanging out with them?

Why do you think some people feel this massive urge to stand out by being crude or talking about sex non-stop? 🤷

What are they actually trying to achieve there... is it just a sign of something deeper? Like, are there certain character traits that always seem to travel with that kind of behavior?

I honestly think we overthink swearing a bit too much. I don't swear around strangers, but when I'm with my close friends, I don't hold back if a word slips out.
As long as it isn't directed at someone specifically—if it's just used as an exclamation or a comment—I don't see the issue.
It doesn't bother me if a friend lets a certain four-letter word fly.

I've never really understood why some people get so offended by those kinds of mentions.

The thing that actually bothers me about profanity is when people use those old, misogynistic insults that degrade women. Not only is it disrespectful, but those phrases are so incredibly cliché that the people using them just come off as boring.😁

Man, imagine if this happened at Spa-Francorchamps. 🙂

It’s not just Spa, though. It could happen on any track because these cars are going to get faster every single weekend.
If you listen to the post-race interviews from Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, or Red Bull Racing, they all seem to agree on one thing: there is still massive room for development. 🙂

Monaco is going to be epic. I can hardly wait!
Ferrari and Mercedes look close, but I’m still banking on Mercedes being the frontrunners for the next two races.
That race was a mess. We know Lewis can struggle when things go south right from the start, and he’s never been the best at managing tires. He also tends to get a bit defeatist with his radio calls and what he shares with us.
On the other hand, I think Valtteri Bottas's performance actually proves just how good that car really is. There's no way Bottas would have landed on the podium in his first race if that machine wasn't a winner.

By the way, what did you all think about the Magnussen-Ericsson incident? That was a close one; last year, Kevin Magnussen probably would have walked away with a penalty for that.
Amanda Kelly said:Both Mercedes-Benz cars nailed their starts.
Ferrari, on the other hand, was a mess, especially Kimi Räikkönen.
I can't tell if that was just a one-off disaster or if Mercedes actually perfected their launch control.

Was that at the Australian Grand Prix or was it with AMuS? It doesn't really matter now, but the Americans behind the wheel have such precise control that it might explain those clean launches. 😁

Jack Kelly5 said:I mean, couldn't you maybe just assume that the Mercedes-Benz cars and Max Verstappen were on the racing line, while the Ferrari guys ended up stuck on the dirty part of the track?

They kind of blew it during Saturday practice too, trying to squeeze out extra speed for qualifying and just totally messing it up.
At least they realized what happened, I guess.

True, which is pretty funny considering Lewis Hamilton was already complaining about having zero grip in his starting spot during the warm-up lap.
Fernando Alonso didn't actually say it was the greatest race of his entire life. He just said, "this is the best race i had." That's where he left it; what he really meant by that, who knows.
I'm guessing he was referring specifically to his time driving for McLaren.
If I've got this right, they were planning an undercut on Sebastian Vettel, but Lewis Hamilton beat them to it.
Congratulations Sebastian.
So you still think Ferrari has the fastest car on the grid... Los Angeles is such a strange track. It’s not about downforce or pure top speed; it feels more like a street circuit without the actual barriers lining the course.
Valtteri Bottas performed better than I expected.

The race starts at 7:00.
Those folks over on the sports news site were posting stuff about 8:00. 😬
I was expecting Meck to be the fastest car on the grid, but I didn't anticipate a gap this massive.
Being nearly half a second behind Meck tomorrow would be a total disaster for Ferrari. It’s such a huge failure that it makes me want to call for a complete overhaul of the technical team immediately.
I’ve always been a bit skeptical about the reliability at Ferrari, which is honestly why I’d be hesitant to bet my hard-earned cash on a Lewis Hamilton win. Q1 will be the first real indicator of where everyone actually stands. My gut tells me even F1 won't be performing at its peak just yet; Ferrari will likely focus on grinding out as many laps as possible to fine-tune that engine, since everything usually shifts significantly by the end of testing.

Harold Anderson3 said:I don't follow basketball, but why Andy Murray? He only won one Grand Slam. Usually, tennis players take home those awards after winning three Grand Slams in a single season.
The point is that nobody dominated their sport quite like Usain Bolt did in 2016, even if his times weren't actually at their absolute peak that year. He’s run much faster before.

Personally, I think these multi-sport awards are pretty pointless. They just don't make sense.
It feels wrong to compare someone like Usain Bolt, who might win eight 100m races in a season, to pro tennis players battling through Grand Slams and Masters tournaments.
If you want to give Usain Bolt that kind of weight, he'd need to compete way more often. Three wins in a season just isn't enough to crown an athlete of the year. Comparing him to top-tier tennis pros—who rack up about 50 wins a season and grind through twenty matches lasting over three hours—is just a bad comparison.

The very nature of certain sports makes it impossible to put them in the same category. You can't judge athletes across different disciplines using the same yardstick.
bzv, I wouldn't give it to him. He’s already accomplished everything he set out to do by pulling off another medal triple, but Usain Bolt is the textbook example of a modern athlete managed by a crew where the bottom line is the only thing that matters. In his mind, just showing up to the Olympics is enough to check all the boxes.
You rarely see him competing throughout the year because nobody is willing to foot the bill for his entry fees upfront.

In my opinion, this should have gone to Andy Murray or LeBron James. Even if LeBron couldn't care less about the Laureus awards, he was still the most deserving pick for the honor.
Gummo in Movies ·
Gummo is an incredible film.
I honestly think it’s a raw, honest look at life on the fringes—that gritty, lawless territory where kids grow up without any decent role models to look up to. That was exactly what we were seeing on screen.
You have to watch a movie like this with an open mind. If you go in immediately trying to set boundaries or judging what’s too gross and what isn't just to put it in a box, you miss the point entirely.
Come on guys, push harder, we need this WIN!

Pesko has officially lost his mind!
LET'S GO RIGHT NOW!!!!!
Horvat is on his third attempt. 🤣
What a shame...
Highlighting those semifinal stats right before a game like this was a mistake. It just sets us up for even more heartbreak next time.

It wasn't Duvnjak who cost us the match; it was the lack of scoring from the likes of Stepančić and Šebetić. They didn't even attempt a shot, a pass, or a hard strike against the block.
The second half is underway, and we’re already struggling to get any momentum with this sluggish ball movement.
