quietangler5 said:Meanwhile, young people in Austria seem much more aligned with the demographics in Poland, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. Even in Mexico, the youth tend to skew more conservative than the general population. I’d assume the situation in America follows a similar pattern. I'm curious to know how this dynamic plays out in other parts of the world—specifically within Scandinavia.

On a separate note, I am fairly convinced that the Republican Party in Germany and the Republicans in France would see significantly better results if they shifted their platforms to mirror the approach taken by the Republican Party in Austria.

My take is that young voters in Vienna likely voted differently than the national average, leaning left.
If my memory serves me right, that's the general trend: while the right wing might be winning overall, when you look at the youth in major metropolitan hubs, they mostly swing toward the social democrats.
Labeling: A powerful psychological weapon in Psychology ·
In the past, I didn't really care about labeling—whether it was directed at me or someone else. I'll admit, I was just being oblivious and insensitive back then.
Now, I’ve become much more sensitive, though I find I feel it more when I say something to someone else rather than when it's said to me.
I know who I am. For the most part, I can handle being put into a box because I know exactly what's going on in my own head. But it's different when I'm the one doing the categorizing. It becomes a heavy responsibility. I never truly know how someone actually reacted in the moment; there's always that awkward factor where a person might just say "it's fine" because they're too embarrassed to admit they were hurt. If I've misstepped, I often feel powerless to fix it. I can't exactly jump inside their mind and hit a reset button to undo what I said before it landed. That's why I try to be careful now. If I feel the need to label someone, I prefer to let it come up naturally through a real conversation rather than just blurting it out.
Major brain fog/mental block in Psychology & Therapy ·
1. Look, you’re clearly one of those people who can't stand seeing someone else struggle, yet you have zero intention of actually helping. From what you're saying, it sounds like you're just worried about how her weight gain might affect your own image. If she gained 20 pounds, you'd be embarrassed to show up in public with her. You're looking out for yourself. Honestly, I get it, but
2. You aren't exactly perfect either. Just like her hypothyroidism bothers you, there are things about your own mental health struggles that probably bother her—but you don't seem to give those any thought.
3. The truth is, you don't love her. You claim you do, but you're getting hung up on a physical flaw. That's pretty awful. 😁
How do you deal with the horrors you see and hear? in Psychology & Therapy ·
I make it a point to stay away from websites that constantly highlight death and other heavy life tragedies.
I can handle reading local crime news, provided they still respect the dignity of those involved.
I cope by holding onto the belief in a better tomorrow—that the world will actually improve. I truly believe that we, as people, have the power to influence things; if we read a heartbreaking story today, we can at least try to ensure it doesn't happen again tomorrow.
I also deal with it by talking things through with the people closest to me.

It’s not about being stoic and pretending everything is perfect. Some news hits me hard, whether it makes me tear up or just leaves me feeling miserable for the rest of the day. But over the years, I've learned that instead of dumping all my energy into a "doom and gloom" mindset, I should redirect some of that strength toward understanding the situation—both mine and the world's—and finding the lessons within it.

Just taking a walk. ☕

I’d give her the win.
To me, it seems totally reasonable to overlook those minor details about the sand. Even if he touched a bit more of the weaker sand than intended, who cares? You have to look at the body position of the entire jump; that’s what really matters. If she had accidentally scratched the sand with a manicured nail 😁, I wouldn't have thought twice about it either. At that point, it’s practically part of the athlete. Numbers are just numbers.

And just like that, we’re moving forward 🤣

Španovićka is jumping great again, though she just doesn't seem to have any real competition to push her further.

If Wilson keeps performing at this level, there’s a real shot at her grabbing a podium spot alongside Semeny. She was basically just jogging during those last 100 meters, yet she still managed to clock in under two minutes.

Kendra barely made it to the finals.
I’m pulling for Sally in the championship—it’s going to be an absolute thriller!

I really thought Richards was going to snatch the gold. He was dragging his feet through the rain yesterday, crossing the line at 20.15, and today he’s barely showing any speed.
By the way, Bolt would have walked away with the gold here; no matter how much he struggled, he still would've outpaced this guy. 😁

Francis pulled off a career-best performance during the SP finals, even with the rain pouring down. 🙏

At eighteen, Amos clocked a 1.41, but when the pressure was truly on, he ended up running 5.6 seconds slower than expected.

Ali McLeod is playing in a completely different league compared to the rest. 🙏

He’s more than good enough for this field.
Does anyone else besides him even have the capacity to run sub-13s?
I was just watching some of his races on YouTube, and as someone who doesn't know much about track, I noticed he never seems to stumble. He rarely even loses his stride.
What really matters is that he walked away with pure gold yesterday.
Everything that happened before doesn't help his reputation, but you can't change the past. Around 10:45 PM last night, there was a second situation that had absolutely nothing to do with what happened previously.

That Etiopljanka is something else. I honestly can't tell if she was exhausted because, looking at her face, I couldn't decide if she just finished a quick 15-minute jog through the woods or if she was actually competing6.2 miles at the SPu.
rustylynx5 said:I haven't been following the qualifiers very closely. Is Bolt really looking that bad?

There's no way he's taking gold.
Unless everyone else completely falls apart or picks up a disqualification.
Do you think Bolt is actually going to lose his hundred percent? I’m putting all my money on it.

I'm on board, but only if we go all out—something massive, like Singapore. 😁
Everything stays within a reasonable budget. Tickets aren't always the huge expense; we could just fly a slightly more modest airline to balance things out. 😁

Just saying ☕

That’s because of the DRS. I remember one race where, without DRS, Sebastian Vettel was hitting around 322, while Lewis Hamilton was up at about 345. 😁
I'm watching this and I honestly can't believe my eyes.

jadeseal7 said:If you look at the onboard footage, there’s clear telemetry on the left side. Lewis Hamilton enters the corner at 66 KP, then slows down to 51 KP on the exit.

EDIT: He was also more than ten car lengths behind the SC.

Didn't that happen toward the end of the lap? Martin Brundle mentioned that Ham stepped on it to catch the SC by the very next turn. 😁
I still don't get why everyone is making such a fuss. Did Ham cut him off?
Yeah, he did, but honestly, that's just what everyone does in these situations. : D
Plus, he closed the gap by about 15 mph, which isn't exactly a full stop.
To me, it looks more like Sebastian Vettel accelerated rather than Hamilton cutting him off.
Essentially, both drivers share some blame here. They were both trying to squeeze every bit of advantage out of that SC restart, and when two people try to take up the same space, things go sideways. 😁
