You'll find it at any decent electronics retailer or big-box store like Best Buy.
Windows 7 officially hits the shelves this Thursday, October 22nd.
Check here for more details on pricing and availability.
For info regarding upgrade options, look here.

Just type "free music downloads" into a search engine and you'll find plenty of options 😉

I don't know... Windows 7 actually managed to let me down. 🤷

Did you actually read EVERYTHING on that page I linked? Like, did you even bother opening it? That URL at the bottom of the page. And did she actually find the solution on there? 🤔

Not sure I follow you. 🤷
Are you asking about the actual "system requirements," or are you wondering how easy it is to customize the OS once it's installed? 🤔

Whenever I log into Windows 7, MSN Messenger kicks off automatically and signs me into my live.com account, plus I can check if anything hit my Outlook inbox.

When I minimize the app, the window just vanishes toward the system tray, though the icon stays active on the Taskbar. I actually used the "pin this application to the Taskbar" command a while back, which is why MSN Messenger is permanently stuck on the Taskbar.

There’s probably some "run in the background" or "minimize to tray" setting buried in there, but I haven't bothered looking at those specifics until now.

After digging around online for a bit, this is what I stumbled upon. You can see the exact steps demonstrated here and right here.

Henry Gonzalez67 said:Windows Media Center is my go-to for watching TV, so I was wondering what kind of Desktop shortcut I could create to keep it handy!😁 My alternative is clicking Start / All Programs / Windows Media Center every single time. It’s not exactly a struggle, but having a shortcut would be "easier." One more thing can I set it up so Media Center stays on top of everything else? Thanks!🙏

1) Here's what I suggest: just start typing "windows," "media," or "center" into the Start menu search box until the WMC link pops up. Once you launch it, when the icon shows up in the Taskbar, just "pin" it there. You don't even need a Desktop shortcut if you have it one click away on the Taskbar.

2) Yes, you can. Look up "Keep always on top"—you can find more details here

I already reinstalled the drivers and rebooted the modem... I spent time scouring forums about this bug, but nothing works..
Can anyone help me restore my faith in Windows 7?

ugh

Check out this thread on the Microsoft TechNet forum. There might be a fix for your issue in there. 😉

My uncle Sir Oliver handled everything. ☕

And yeah, Windows 7 runs flawlessly. I actually reached out to Microsoft just yesterday to let them know the product is solid and ready for retail. ☕

Even if they haven't prompted you for activation on Windows 7 Ultimate yet, it’s only a matter of time. It hasn't even hit the shelves in the US yet—maybe in about three weeks.

Then again, we're all Sir Oliver in this situation. 🙄

Please define "released." 🙂

Daniel Vaughn3 said:Windows 7 RTM is officially out. What can you actually buy that isn't fully finished yet?Windows 7 is officially ready to go. Most likely. Released October 22, 2009.

Where exactly am I supposed to go to buy an unfinished product? 🤔
That so-called "release date" of October 22, 2009, is absolute nonsense. It’s just not realistic. Final.

Thomas Hernandez21 said:You don't even need to explain it to me. I get it.

You're right—there are definitely other kids out there who should probably go back and review this material. 🙄

Daniel Vaughn3 said:The RTM version is being pushed to shelves now because it’s stable enough to act like it's actually finished. If I were in your shoes, I’d honestly just hold off for a little while longer...

Where can I pick this up? And what's the damage? 🤷
Windows 7 seems pretty stable so far—at least from what I've seen. The RTM version is officially out or "development frozen," meaning the W7 development cycle is wrapped up. It’s already been handed off to the OEMs for testing and pre-installing on their hardware configurations.

Thomas Hernandez21 said:So, you're telling me all the major PC manufacturers are shipping pre-built rigs with unfinished versions of Windows? Seriously?

Let's go over the material again.

Development for Windows 7 is officially wrapped up. According to Microsoft, the software has hit its target quality benchmarks, so now it’s being handed off to PC manufacturers to run through their own testing and get everything dialed in for their specific hardware configurations.

Who actually grabbed the beta? Was it the RC or the RTM version? Great. 🙄Who else is counting down the days until Thursday, October 22, 2009? 🙂

You can't perform a direct upgrade from the Windows 7 beta build 7100 to the final RTM build 7600.
There is one specific workaround 😉 that you can read about here.

If you had actually looked at the link provided, you would have seen this: "Buy your upgrade to Windows Vista now. Your upgrade to Windows 7 will follow later." 😳

Read the section titled "Love your computer?" more carefully. 😉

granitepanther8 said:I picked up Windows Vista Business today, but they handed me a product key for Windows 7 instead. What am I supposed to do with that? My Vista is 64-bit, and I was actually looking to get Windows 7 in 64-bit too...

Issues with Adobe Acrobat Reader in Software ·
Mark Ramos6 said:Does anyone know how to make a webpage resume exactly where I left off after I reload the file? Thanks.

U Adobe Reader 9. Still around, I guess. Some people cling to old software like it's a lifeline, even when it's clearly showing its age. If you're still running this on a modern machine, good luck with the stability.Hit Edit-Preferences (or just hit Ctrl+K), then go to Categories: Documents. Open Settings, check the box for "Restore last view settings when reopening documents," hit OK, and then restart the application. 😉

P.S. Will it work for me? Regularly. Trying to get Windows Vista up and running after performing a Change Drive Letter and Paths operation.

Will we start losing drive letters on Windows Vista in the coming weeks?
It shouldn't. Just restart the week and see if everything's working properly.

Robert Johnson63 said:Hey everyone!
Here's my situation:
I've got Windows Vista on one partition and Windows 7 on another, all running dual boot on a single hard drive. When I boot into Vista, all my partitions show up fine. But when I boot into Windows 7, the partition holding Vista just disappears. Any way to fix this?
Thanks, everybody.

Hit the Start menu, type diskmgmt.msc, and hit ENTER

Right-click that Vista partition, then click Change Drive Letter and Paths

Click Add

Select the first option, Assign The following Drive letter, and pick a letter from the dropdown—either the suggested one or whatever you prefer.

Confirm by clicking OK

Once you head back to Computer, that Vista partition should be right there.

It’s been nearly a year since the first post in this thread about Seven was even written. We're sitting here with 40 pages and over 1,500 comments, yet Windows 7 😉 still hasn't even hit the shelves. I am just thrilled with how things are progressing. My hope is that more people will jump into this discussion to share their thoughts, gripes, and advice with the rest of us.

Even though Windows isn't my primary OS, I have to admit—Windows 7 really, really caught me by surprise. It's actually quite pleasant.

You mean McAfee Total Protection?

There are some issues, which McAfee themselves actually admitted.

One way to fix it is laid out in detail on this page.

I have Windows 7 installed, but whenever I go to Shut down -> Shut down, my PC just goes into sleep mode instead. It won't actually turn off. My only option right now is the old-school method—just hitting the physical button!
Anyone got any advice? Thanks!

Have you tried adjusting things in "Control Panel \ Hardware and Sound \ Power Options"? 🤔
